Abstract

We present the case of an HIV-infected patient who developed life-threatening rhabdomyolysis and Fanconi syndrome 11 years after initiation of TDF-based combination antiretroviral therapy (cART). Apart from our patient, the association of rhabdomyolysis and concomitant tubular nephropathy has been reported in three other patients in the literature [[5]]. The tubular nephropathy was diagnosed as Fanconi syndrome in two patients and acute tubular necrosis in the two other patients. [Extracted from the article]
