We consider a method of transferring the temperature of the triple point of water with an acoustic resonator configuration for measuring the Boltzmann constant. It is shown that the transfer of the temperature of the triple point of water in a resonator using a highly sensitive differentiator does not require the use of absolute means of measurement and implemented with uncertainty limited only by thermal noise. The method enables reducing uncertainty in the temperature transfer when measuring the Boltzmann constant, whose accurate measurement is necessary for transition to a new definition of the unit of temperature.

A new type of semiconductor superlattice with design based on figurate numbers is proposed and investigated. A comparison of tunneling transparencies and the distributions of the electron density of figurate superlattices with the resonant tunneling characteristics of standard Fibonacci superlattices is given. The results that have been obtained are intended for use in nanotechnologies.

Methods of determining the scattering parameters of coaxial inch-to-metric thread transitions by the movable load method are considered. It is shown that the parameters of the transitions can be established as analytical functions of the frequency using an air line, a short-circuiting device and an unknown matched load in several frequency windows (subbands) with an error no worse than that of traditional calibration methods.

New methods of determining the parameters of circuit models of resistive microwave structures are considered, based on a measurement of the wave scattering parameters of the contact device, consisting of coaxial-stripline transitions, a stripline transmission line and the structure analyzed. Results which demonstrate the high efficiency of the proposed methods of solving the problem are presented.

Results are given for experimental studies in creating a system for measuring the parameters of nanotechnological preparation of electronic devices made from quantum threads by their assembly from nanoparticles

Results of research aimed at creating a new generation of quantum frequency standards, i.e., a cesium fountain, are presented. Measurement data for controlling and detecting cold atoms are analyzed. The possibility of cooling cesium atoms to a level of the order of 2 µK is demonstrated by experiment.

A highly automated facility for investigating the properties of materials at low temperatures is described, which contains a BKT-10 cryostat, operating over the 1.5–370 K temperature range with changeable modules for calibrating resistance thermometers and for measuring heat capacity and thermal conductivity. The AK6.25 data acquisition system controlled by an IBM personal computer is used for the measurements.

The calorimetric equipment of the GET 67–75 State Special Standard is described. Results obtained in improving the stability with which the temperature is maintained in the thermostats of this equipment, achieved using Etalon Company equipment, are presented.

The Research Institute of Electronics Industry, in a joint project with Aksamit Engineering Industrial Cooperative, has developed a system for parametric checking of LSI and VLSI test boards. The system measures the following parameters: voltometric characteristics of diodes and transistors, contact and surface resistances, volt-farad characteristics, ring oscillator frequencies, and breakdown characteristics.

1. The magnetically-controlled measurements contacts of different switching systems can be operated by means of a transverse magnetic field. 2. As a result of an experimental data analysis, formulas have been obtained which serve to design contact controlling devices in a transverse magnetic field with a precision adequate for practical purposes. 3. If measurement contacts are used in a transverse magnetic field, the dispersion of the certified values for closing ampere turns should be small. 4. The measurement contacts intended for operation in a transverse magnetic field should have electrodes with a smaller diameter than contacts used in a longitudinal magnetic field. 5. Existence of a “dead zone” in the operation of the contacts by means of a transverse magnetic field serves to implement different logics in their operation.

The basis of any experiment is a measurement method. Methods often involve repeating measurement procedures in order to determine the optimum working conditions. The cost of such preliminary trials is comparable with that of the measurements themselves. Such costs are reduced by managing the measurements not with hardware but with software, at least partially. This reduces the time to establish the method, and the method also becomes more flexible, which is most important, as the experimenter can react rapidly to any unforeseen change in conditions. The main advantages of the software described below make themselves felt at the stage of developing experimental methods.
