An algorithm is presented for design of a gradient system for a multiphase flowmeter based on the phenomenon of nuclear magnetic resonance. An algorithm for the construction of the magnetic system of a flowmeter of multiphase fluid media that assures its minimal weight and minimal overall dimensions is presented. The influence of the speed of sound on the expansion coefficient of constrictions is considered. It is shown that the expansion equation for standard nozzles may be expressed in terms of the speed of sound. An analysis is presented in which the criterion of the range of applicability for the gas expansion equation beyond the nozzles is evaluated in measurements of the flow rate and quantity of gas. Convective heat transfer of a sphere at low values of the Reynolds number (Re ≤ 65) is analyzed. It is shown that, in the region investigated, the theoretical parameters considerably exceed those obtained experimentally, due to the physically unjustified overestimate of the contribution of forced convection to the total. It is concluded that, for this range, one must set up a separate criterion equation in the form, as a minimum, of a quadratic polynomial in the Reynolds number. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We consider the typical features of application of the laser Doppler method for determination of blood flow rate in hemodialysis machines. We have analyzed the scattering characteristics of blood and blood flow in the blood tubing.
