Abstract: Metastable hexagonal molybdenum trioxide has been synthesized by chemical precipitation and hydrothermal treatment at low temperature. X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to characterize the product, which has a unique hexagonal prism-like morphology. Excellent electrochemical performances were exhibited: the first reversible discharge specific capacity can reach 402mAhg−1 versus Li metal at 0.1mAcm−2 (voltage range 1.2–4.0V). Abstract: Sb2O3 nanorods were successfully prepared via a mild hydrothermal route based on the reactions between SbCl3 and NH3·H2O in aqueous solution at 120–180°C for 12h. The as-prepared Sb2O3 nanorods were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electronic microscopy (TEM), and X-ray photoelctron spectroscopy (XPS). Results showed that NH3·H2O played a significant role in the formation of Sb2O3 nanorods. The presence of NH3·H2O could greatly favor the reaction progress toward the right-hand side and led to the orientation growth of Sb2O3 nanorods. A possible mechanism for the formation of Sb2O3 nanocrystallites was discussed. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

A novel ternary graphene oxide (GO)/Ag 3 PO 4 /AgBr composite was synthesized by an in situ growth of Ag 3 PO 4 /AgBr on GO nanosheets. The photocatalytic efficiency of the nanocomposite under visible light irradiation was much enhanced due to the coupling of GO nanosheets and Ag 3 PO 4 /AgBr, which enlarged the absorption region, facilitated the charge transportation, and enhanced the charge collection efficiency. According to the photocatalytic results, the 0.625%GO/Ag 3 PO 4 /AgBr sample shows the highest photocatalytic activity, about 3.6 times higher than that of Ag 3 PO 4 . According to the radical trapping test, the O 2 − and OH radicals, together with h + are the dominant active species in the GO/Ag 3 PO 4 /AgBr photocatalytic process. A possible photocatalytic mechanism for photocatalytic degradation over GO/Ag 3 PO 4 /AgBr was proposed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper reports a hydrothermal conversion process of rare earth microstructures, Y(OH) 3 nanofiber bundles, into YVO 4 polyhedrons, together with the investigation on the related photocatalytic properties. The as-synthesized samples were characterized by a variety of techniques, including XRD, SEM, TEM and UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activities of YVO 4 polyhedrons were comparatively evaluated by the photodegradation of Rhodamine B and methylene blue. In contrast to the bulk oxide, the photocatalytic performance of the polyhedrons was much improved. The mechanism and the main active species involved in photocatalytic oxidative reaction were also investigated through the carriers trapping experiments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
