The harsh service environment of aeroengine hot-end components requires superalloys possessing excellent antioxidant properties. This study investigated the effect of pre-strain on the oxidation behavior of polycrystalline Ni3Al-based superalloys. The growth behaviors of oxidation products were analyzed by scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The results indicated that the 5% pre-strained alloys exhibited lower mass gain, shallower oxidation depth and more compact oxide film structures compared to the original alloy. This is mainly attributed to the formation of rapid diffusion paths for Al atoms diffusing to the surface under 5% pre-strain, which promotes the faster formation of protective Al2O3 film while continuing to increase the pre-strain to 25% results in less protective transient oxidation behavior being aggravated due to the increase in dislocation density within the alloy, which prevents the timely formation of the protective Al2O3 film, resulting in uneven oxidation behavior on the alloy. To study the influence of multi-factors, such as long sunshine, sand erosion, and so on, in southern Xinjiang, we selected two kinds of composite insulators for the transmission lines in southern Xinjiang to study the aging characteristics of the umbrella skirt surface. The results of scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) show that the surface roughness of the umbrella skirt is high and there are a large number of micron inorganic particles. The skirt has the characteristics of low C/O element ratio and high Al element content. The results of thermogravimetric analysis and micro infrared test show that the aging depth of the Myli Line skirt after 19 years of operation is 160~190 µm and that of Yuhe Line 1 after 14 years of operation is greater than 180 µm. The plasma discharge method was used to simulate the corona discharge in the actual operation to accelerate the aging of the surface of the umbrella skirt and the hydrophobic recovery of the umbrella skirt was investigated. The results show that the temperature has a great influence on the surface hydrophobic recovery performance after plasma treatment. Marine biofouling is a worldwide problem in marine systems. Nowadays, innovative non-toxic antifouling and fouling-release materials are highly desirable. In this study, a strategy for preparing antifouling and fouling-release materials via one-step dip coating is reported. Copolymers were synthesized via the polymerization of a monomer with catechol sticky functional groups and four monomers with antifouling- or fouling-release functional groups, respectively. The copolymers could assemble onto different material surfaces, such as metals and plastics, using biomimetic catechol groups via multivalent complex bonding. The catechol groups were helpful for adhesion onto the surfaces, while the other functional groups endowed the coatings with antifouling or fouling-release properties. The effects of modifying the substrates using these copolymer coatings were verified via X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; images of Chlorella cell and Ulva zoospore settlement were taken using a microscope and scanning electron microscope. The copolymer-coated surfaces, especially the surface modified by DOPA–PSPMA, displayed the best antifouling activity, and surface modification via DOPA–PTMETH was shown to be the most effective for producing the fouling-release property in the settlement assay. The variety of conductive fibers has been constantly enriched in recent years, and it has made rapid development in the fields of electronic textiles, intelligent wearable, and medical care. However, the environmental damage caused by the use of large quantities of synthetic fibers cannot be ignored, and there is little research on conductive fibers in the field of bamboo, a green and sustainable material. In this work, we used the alkaline sodium sulfite method to remove lignin from bamboo, prepared a conductive bamboo fiber bundle by coating a copper film on single bamboo fiber bundles using DC magnetron sputtering, and analyzed its structure and physical properties under different process parameters, finding the most suitable preparation condition that combines cost and performance. The results of the scanning electron microscope show that the coverage of copper film can be improved by increasing the sputtering power and prolonging the sputtering time. The resistivity of the conductive bamboo fiber bundle decreased with the increase of the sputtering power and sputtering time, up to 0.22 Ω·mm; at the same time, the tensile strength of the conductive bamboo fiber bundle continuously decreased to 375.6 MPa. According to the X-ray diffraction results, Cu in the copper film on the surface of the conductive bamboo fiber bundle shows the preferred orientation of (111) the crystal plane, indicating that the prepared Cu film has high crystallinity and good film quality. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results show that Cu in the copper film exists in the form of Cu0 and Cu2+, and most are Cu0. SPIDER is the 100 keV full-size Negative Ion Source prototype of the ITER Neutral Beam Injector, operating at Consorzio RFX in Padova, Italy. The largest Negative Ion Source in the world, SPIDER generates an RF driven plasma from which Deuterium or Hydrogen negative ions are produced and extracted. At the end of 2021, a scheduled long-term shutdown started to introduce major modifications and improvements aiming to solve issues and drawbacks identified during the first three years of SPIDER operations. The first action of the shutdown period was the disassembly and characterization of the SPIDER beam source after removal from the vacuum vessel and its placement inside the clean room. Each component was carefully assessed and catalogued, following a documented procedure. Some source components, i.e., the Plasma Grid, Extraction Grid and Bias Plate, revealed the presence of different and non-uniform red, white and green coatings that might be correlated to back-streaming positive ions impinging on grid surfaces, electrical discharges and caesium evaporation. Thus, several analyses have been carried out to understand the nature of such coatings, with the study still ongoing. The evidence of caesium evaporation and deposition on molybdenum-coated SPIDER components, such as the formation of oxides and hydroxides, is demonstrated through surface characterization analyses with the use of the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). The ability to produce high-entropy alloys with an amorphous structure, so-called high-entropy metallic glasses (HEMGs), offers the possibility to produce new compositions with good mechanical properties and resistance to corrosion. In this study, corrosion behavior was studied in two HEMGs, FeCoNiCrB and FeCoNiCr(BSi). In both cases, the total amount of metalloid atoms was kept constant at 20 at.%. The electrochemical behavior of these alloys was studied by means of linear polarization resistance (LPR) measurements and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in a 3 wt.% NaCl solution. The effect of corrosion was characterized by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and the surface morphology was checked using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). In order to control diesel exhaust emission, CeO2-SnO2/Al2O3 (CTA) mixed oxides were prepared and coated on perforated stainless steel (SS) filter plates, and the catalytic activities were analyzed in this work. The CeO2-SnO2 (different compositions of Ce/Sn—2:8; 1:1; 8:2) composites and Al2O3 were prepared separately via a co-precipitation approach, and CeO2-SnO2/Al2O3 (CTA) mixed oxides were attained by mechanical mixing of 75 wt% CeO2-SnO2 composites with 25 wt% Al2O3. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy were performed for all three CeO2-SnO2/Al2O3 (CTA) mixed oxides; the CeO2-SnO2/Al2O3 (Ce/Sn-1:1) sample confirmed the presence of cubic and tetragonal mixed faces, which enhances the redox nature (catalytic activities). Various characterizations such as high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and a scanning electron microscope (SEM) were employed on CeO2-SnO2/Al2O3 (Ce/Sn-1:1) sample to investigate the structural, textural, compositional, and morphological properties. The CeO2-SnO2/Al2O3 (Ce/Sn-1:1) sample was coated on a perforated stainless steel (SS) filter plate via a simple, cost-effective, and novel method, and an exhaust emission test for various compression ratios (CR), injection pressure (IP), and load (L) was completed using an AVL Digas analyzer. This work investigates an electrochemical impedance analysis based on synthesized TiO2 nanofibers (NFs) photoanodes, which were fabricated via electrospinning and calcination. The investigated photoanode substrate NFs were studied in terms of physicochemical tools to investigate their morphological character, crystallinity, and chemical contents via scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses. As a result, the studied photoanode substrate NFs were applied to fabricate dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs), and the electrochemical impedance analysis (EIS) was studied in terms of equivalent circuit fitting and impacts of N-doping, the latter of which was approved via XPS analysis. N-doping has a considerable role in the enhancement of charge transfers, which could be due to the strong interactions between active-site N atoms and the used photosensitizer. This work explores the impact of hydrogen reduction on sintering and nitriding of porous high-nitrogen austenitic stainless steel (HNASS) processed via powder metallurgy. A temperature-resolved hydrogen reduction (temperature range of 700–1250 °C) was performed to evaluate the phase composition of porous HNASS. The systematic microstructure was characterized by a scanning electron microscope (SEM) with energy disperse spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The compressive mechanical properties and electrochemical corrosion behavior of the unreduced and reduced samples were discussed. Samples reduced in hydrogen at 1100 °C and 1250 °C show better compressive properties while still retaining good corrosion resistance. Reduction of oxide facilitates sintering thus improves the compressive properties. Increasing the content of solute nitrogen and reducing the precipitation of nitride can effectively improve the corrosion resistance of porous HNASS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

La2/3Cu3Ti4O12 ceramics were prepared by the same method of solid-state reaction as CaCu3Ti4O12 ceramics. The structure and dielectric responses for La2/3Cu3Ti4O12 and CaCu3Ti4O12 ceramics were systematically investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and impedance analyzer. Compared with CaCu3Ti4O12 ceramics, La2/3Cu3Ti4O12 ceramics with higher density and refined grain exhibit a high dielectric constant (ε′ ~ 104) and two dielectric relaxations in a wide temperature range. The dielectric relaxation below 200 K with an activation energy of 0.087 eV in La2/3Cu3Ti4O12 ceramics is due to the polyvalent state of Ti3+/Ti4+ and Cu+/Cu2+, while the dielectric relaxation above 450 K with higher activation energy (0.596 eV) is due to grain boundary effects. These thermal activated dielectric relaxations with lower activation energy in La2/3Cu3Ti4O12 ceramics both move to lower temperatures, which can be associated with the enhanced polyvalent structure in La2/3Cu3Ti4O12 ceramics. Ceramic coatings with high emissivity were fabricated on TC4 alloys by micro-arc oxidation technique (MAO) in mixed silicate and phosphate electrolytes with varying KMnO4 addition. The microstructure, phase and chemical composition were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and the infrared emissivity of the MAO coatings was measured in a waveband of 5-20 μm. The results show that the thickness of the coatings increased with the addition of KMnO4, but the roughness of the coatings first decreased and then increased slightly due to the inhibitory effect of KMnO4 on Na2SiO3 deposition. The main phase composition of the coatings was anatase and rutile TiO2, amorphous form of SiO2 and MnO2. The infrared emissivity value of the coatings strongly depended on KMnO4 concentration, the coating formed at the concentration of 0.8 g/L KMnO4 reached the highest and an average of up to 0.87 was observed. A reversible photo-, thermal-, and pH-responsive high-performance functional wood with fluorescence has been prepared. The properties, structure, multi-response, fluorescence, water resistance, and corrosion resistance of original wood (ORW) and functional wood (FUW) were investigated with an X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) spectrometer, a Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometer, a N2 adsorption–desorption analyzer, an atomic force microscope (AFM), tensile tests, a scanning electron microscope (SEM), an ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) spectrophotometer, a fluorescence spectrometer, the equilibrium swelling ratio (ESR), and corrosion tests. The results of XPS, FTIR, N2 adsorption–desorption, and AFM exhibited that FUW was successfully prepared. Additionally, the results of the tensile test and SEM revealed that FUW had better mechanical properties than ORW, due to the filling of epoxy resin in the pores of the wood. Moreover, the UV–Vis and fluorescence spectra demonstrated that the introduction of epoxy resin induced multi-response and fluorescence functions to FUW. Furthermore, the data of ESR and corrosion test showed that the introduction of epoxy resin greatly improved the water and corrosion resistance of wood. The work presents the synthesis of FeCl3-modified carbonaceous catalysts obtained from waste orange peel and their application in the oxidation of alpha-pinene in solvent-free reaction conditions. The use of waste orange peel as presented here (not described in the literature) is an effective and cheap way of managing this valuable and renewable biomass. FeCl3-modified carbonaceous materials were obtained by a two-stage method: in the first stage, activated carbon was obtained, and in the second stage, it was modified by FeCl3 in the presence of H3PO4 (three different molar ratios of these two compounds were used in the studies). The obtained FeCl3-modified carbon materials were subjected to detailed instrumental studies using the methods FT-IR (Fourier-transform Infrared Spectroscopy), XRD (X-ray Diffraction), SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope), EDXRF (Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence) and XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy), while the textural properties of these materials were also studied, such as the specific surface area and total pore volume. Catalytic tests with the three modified activated carbons showed that the catalyst obtained with the participation of 6 M of FeCl3 and 3 M aqueous solutions of H3PO4 was the most active in the oxidation of alpha-pinene. Further tests (influence of temperature, amount of catalyst, and reaction time) with this catalyst made it possible to determine the most favorable conditions for conducting oxidation on this type of catalyst, and allowed study of the kinetics of this process. The most favorable conditions for the process were: temperature of 100 °C, catalyst content of 0.5 wt% and reaction time 120 min (very mild process conditions). The conversion of the organic raw material obtained under these conditions was 40 mol%, and the selectivity of the transformation to alpha-pinene oxide reached the value of 35 mol%. In the late 1960s, the establishment of Prigogine's dissipative structure theory laid the foundation for the (electro)chemical oscillation phenomenon, which has been widely investigated in some electrochemical reactions, such as electro-catalysis and electro-deposition, while the electrochemical oscillation of Li-ion batteries has just been discovered in spinel Li4Ti5O12 a few years before. In this work, spinel LiCrTiO4 samples were synthesized by using a high-temperature solid-state method, characterized with SEM (Scanning electron microscope), XRD (X-ray diffraction), Raman and XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) measurements, and electrochemically tested in Li-ion batteries to study the electrochemical oscillation. When sintering in a powder form at a temperature between 800 and 900 °C, we achieved the electrochemical oscillation of spinel LiCrTiO4 during charging, and it is suppressed in the non-stoichiometric LiCrTiO4 samples, especially for reducing the Li content or increasing the Cr content. Therefore, this work developed another two-phase material as the powder-sintered LiCrTiO4 exhibiting the electrochemical oscillation in Li-ion batteries, which would inspire us to explore more two-phase electrode materials in Li-ion batteries, Na-ion batteries, etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

By anodization and thermal oxidation at 600 °C, an oxide layer on Ti with excellent corrosion resistance in strong acid solutions was prepared. The structural properties of TiO2 films before and after thermal oxidation were investigated with methods of Scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The electrochemical characterization was recorded via electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, potentiodynamic polarization and Mott–Schottky methods. XRD results show that a duplex rutile/anatase structure formed after oxidation, and the amount of anatase phase increased as the treatment time was prolonged from 3 to 9 h. XPS analysis indicates that as the thermal oxidation time increased, more Ti vacancies were present in the titanium oxide films, with decreased donor concentration. Longer thermal oxidation promoted the formation of hydroxides of titanium on the surface, which is helpful to improve the passive ability of the film. The anodized and thermally oxidized Ti samples showed relatively high corrosion resistance in 4 M HCl and 4 M H2SO4 solutions at 100 ± 5 °C. The passive current density values of the thermally oxidized samples were five orders of magnitude under the testing condition compared with that of the anodized sample. Biodiesel production from rapeseed oil and methanol via transesterification reaction facilitated by various monometallic catalyst supported on natural zeolite (NZ) was investigated. The physicochemical characteristics of the synthesized catalysts were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller method (BET), temperature-programmed-reduction in hydrogen (H2-TPR), temperature-programmed-desorption of ammonia (NH3-TPD), Scanning Electron Microscope equipped with EDX detector (SEM-EDS), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) methods. The highest activity and methyl ester yields were obtained for the Pt/NZ catalyst. This catalyst showed the highest triglycerides conversion of 98.9% and fatty acids methyl esters yields of 94.6%. The activity results also confirmed the high activity of the carrier material (NZ) itself in the investigated reaction. Support material exhibited 90.5% of TG conversion and the Fatty Acid Methyl Esters yield (FAME) of 67.2%. Introduction of noble metals improves the TG conversion and FAME yield values. Increasing of the metal loading from 0.5 to 2 wt.% improves the reactivity properties of the investigated catalysts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Static corrosion experiments were carried out to investigate the corrosion of each kind of component in the rolling oil on the rolled copper foil. The surface morphology and chemical composition of corrosion products were detected by a digital camera, scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results showed that the maximum corrosion rate of rolled copper foil in the base stock and friction modifiers (butyl stearate and dodecanol) was close to zero, while that of rolled copper foil in the N-containing borate, phosphate and the fully formulated rolling oil were 0.17, 1.12 and 0.78 mm/a, respectively. The color of rolled copper foil changing from pink into purple-black when corroded in the N-containing borate. The composition of it was mainly CuO and Cu2O with some N-containing borate adsorbed on it. However, the color and composition of the corroded copper foil in the phosphate were similar to that of the original copper foil. It was complicated for the corroded copper foil in the fully formulated rolling oil, which showed characteristics both in the N-containing borate and in the phosphate according to different positions. It indicated that there might be little corrosion for the base stock and friction modifiers on the rolled copper foil. It might mainly be extreme pressure additives (N-containing borate and phosphate) that caused the corrosion of rolled copper foil. There might be competition between N-containing borate and phosphate for the corrosion of rolled copper foil in the fully formulated rolling oil, resulting in a lower corrosion rate compared with that in the phosphate. With the assistance of surfactant, Fe nanoparticles are supported on g-C3N4 nanosheets by a simple one-step calcination strategy. Meanwhile, a layer of amorphous carbon is coated on the surface of Fe nanoparticles during calcination. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and inductively coupled plasma (ICP) were used to characterize the morphology, structure, and composition of the catalysts. By electrochemical evaluate methods, such as linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) and cyclic voltammetry (CV), it can be found that Fe25-N-C-800 (calcinated in 800 °C, Fe loading content is 5.35 wt.%) exhibits excellent oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) activity and selectivity. In 0.1 M KOH (potassium hydroxide solution), compared with the 20 wt.% Pt/C, Fe25-N-C-800 performs larger onset potential (0.925 V versus the reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE)) and half-wave potential (0.864 V vs. RHE) and limits current density (2.90 mA cm−2, at 400 rpm). In 0.1 M HClO4, it also exhibits comparable activity. Furthermore, the Fe25-N-C-800 displays more excellent stability and methanol tolerance than Pt/C. Therefore, due to convenience synthesis strategy and excellent catalytic activity, the Fe25-N-C-800 will adapt to a suitable candidate for non-noble metal ORR catalyst in fuel cells. Carbonization of biomass can prepare carbon materials with excellent properties. In order to explore the comprehensive utilization and recycling of Caragana korshinskii biomass, 15 kinds of Caragana korshinskii biochar (CB) were prepared by controlling the oxygen-limited pyrolysis process. Moreover, we pay attention to the dynamic changes of microstructure of CB and the by-products. The physicochemical properties of CB were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), BET-specific surface area (BET-SSA), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), and Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The optimal preparation technology was evaluated by batch adsorption application experiment of NO3−, and the pyrolysis mechanism was explored. The results showed that the pyrolysis temperature is the most important factor in the properties of CB. With the increase of temperature, the content of C, pH, mesoporous structure, BET-SSA of CB increased, the cation exchange capacity (CEC) decreased and then increased, but the yield and the content of O and N decreased. The CEC, pH, and BET-SSA of CB under each pyrolysis process were 16.64–81.4 cmol·kg−1, 6.65–8.99, and 13.52–133.49 m2·g−1, respectively. CB contains abundant functional groups and mesoporous structure. As the pyrolysis temperature and time increases, the bond valence structure of C 1s, Ca 2p, and O 1s is more stable, and the phase structure of CaCO3 is more obvious, where the aromaticity increases, and the polarity decreases. The CB prepared at 650 °C for 3 h presented the best adsorption performance, and the maximum theoretical adsorption capacity for NO3− reached 120.65 mg·g−1. The Langmuir model and pseudo-second-order model can well describe the isothermal and kinetics adsorption process of NO3−, respectively. Compared with other cellulose and lignin-based biomass materials, CB showed efficient adsorption performance of NO3− without complicated modification condition. The by-products contain bio-soil and tail gas, which are potential source of liquid fuel and chemical raw materials. A hierarchical nanoporous layer (HNL) can be formed on the silicate glass surface by simple alkali etching. Though it reportedly exhibits various useful functions, such as superhydrophilicity, optical anti-reflection, and material impregnation, the principle of its formation still remains unclear. In this study, HNL formation behavior was experimentally investigated while using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) to clarify the role of boron contained in glass. As a result, it was found that HNL formation was significantly promoted by boron, which was rapidly eluted prior to alkali and alkaline earth metals. This suggests that boron, which forms the skeleton structure of glass together with Si and O, elutes to partially decompose the skeleton, and extends the elution route for HNL formation. In this work, we used the mixed solution of manganese acetate and sodium sulfate to deposit manganese dioxide on the three-dimensional porous nickel foam that was previously soaked in alcohol, and then the effects of solution concentrations on their capacitance properties were investigated. The surface morphology, microstructure, elemental valence and other information of the material were observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), etc. The electrochemical properties of the material were tested by Galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD), Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), Chronoamperometry (CA), Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), etc. The MnO2 electrode prepared at lower concentrations can respectively reach a specific capacitance of 529.5 F g−1 and 237.3 F g−1 at the current density of 1 A g−1 and 10 A g−1, and after 2000 cycles, the capacity retention rate was still 79.8% of the initial capacitance, and the energy density can even reach 59.4 Wh Kg−1, while at the same time, it also has a lower electrochemical impedance (Rs = 1.18 Ω, Rct = 0.84 Ω). This paper presents a simple and economical method for preparing durable anti-static functionalized inkjet prints by using P[St-BA-F6]—novel antistatic agents synthesized by an oxidative polymerization of styrene, butyl acrylate, and allyl alcohol polyether F6. The P[St-BA-F6] was characterized by gel permeation chromatography and Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy. One bath pretreatment solution containing P[St-BA-F6] and pentaerythritol tetraacrylate (PETA) were applied to polyester fabrics before inkjet printing, in order to enhance the color yield and the anti-static properties. The pretreatment conditions, including the concentrations of P[St-BA-F6], curing temperature, and time, were optimized based on inkjet printed polyester fabrics. SEM (scanning electron microscope), XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy), XRD (X-ray diffractometer), TG (thermogravimetric), and DSC (differential scanning calorimetry) examined the fabrics. The results showed that the treated PET fabrics exhibited good applied performances, such as higher color yield, better dry rubbing fastness, lower electrostatic voltage, and durable anti-static properties, even after washing 10 times. These results can be attributed to alcohol polythene group (F6) and allyl group (PETA). PETA can be cross-linked with P[St-BA-F6] and PET fiber. The thermal stability of the treated fabric was lower than that of the untreated fabric, owing to the presence of resin film on the fiber surface. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Copper is an indispensable micronutrient in human health, which has important effects on the promotion of angiogenesis and thus contributes to bone formation and antimicrobial activity. We used ion exchange and pneumatic printing methods to prepare hydroxyapatite (HA) microspheres with different copper content. The microspheres were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Considering the resistance of hydroxyapatite to biodegradation in vivo, the degradation rate of microspheres in modified simulated body fluids was studied. In addition, cell proliferation and antibacterial experiments were carried out to study the biological properties of microspheres. HA-1.5MCu microbeads treated by 1.5 mol/L CuSO4 curing solution have good performance on degradation, antibacterial properties and cell survival rate on day 7.
