Hot-dip aluminum alloy is widely used in the engineering fields. However, during the aluminum plating process, Fe inevitably enters and reaches a saturation state, which has a significant impact on the corrosion resistance and microstructure of the coating. Currently, adding Si during the hot-dip aluminum process can effectively improve the quality of the coating and inhibit the Fe-Al reaction. To understand the effect of Si content on the microstructure and electrochemical performance of Al-xSi-3.5Fe coating alloys, the microstructure and post-corrosion morphology of the alloys were analyzed using SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) and XRD (X-ray Diffraction). Through electrochemical tests and complete immersion corrosion experiments, the corrosion resistance of the coating alloys in 3.5 wt.% NaCl was tested and analyzed. The results show that the Al-3.5Fe coating alloy mainly comprises α-Al, Al3Fe, and Al6Fe. With the increase in Si addition, the iron-rich phase changes from Al3Fe and Al6Fe to Al8Fe2Si. When the Si content reaches 4 wt.%, the iron-rich phase is Al9Fe2Si2, and the excess Si forms the eutectic Si phase with the aluminum matrix. Through SKPFM (Scanning Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy) testing, it was determined that the electrode potentials of the alloy phases Al3Fe, Al6Fe, Al8Fe2Si, Al9Fe2Si2, and eutectic Si phase were higher than that of α-Al, acting as cathode phases to the micro-galvanic cell with the aluminum matrix, and the corrosion form of alloys was mainly galvanic corrosion. With the addition of silicon, the electrode potential of the alloy increased first and then decreased, and the corrosion resistance results were synchronous with it. This work focuses on different surface treatment processes of the 6061 aluminum alloy profile coatings in the construction industry, mainly including the sand powder film coating, the flat powder coating, the hard anodized film, and the ordinary heat-sealing oxidized coating. The corrosion resistance of the coated aluminum alloy in a 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution (pH 6.5–7.5) and the influence of different surface treatment processes on the corrosion resistance of different samples were studied by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and electrochemical workstation. The result shows that with the increase in corrosion time, the corrosion inhibition performance of the four coated aluminum alloy materials decreased significantly, and the order of decline is: sand powder film coating > hard anodized film > flat powder coating > ordinary heat-sealing oxidized coating. Copper-coated graphite and copper mixture powders were deposited on AZ31B magnesium alloy and 6061 T6 aluminum alloy substrates under different process parameters by a solid-state cold spray technique. The microstructure of the copper-coated graphite and copper composite coatings was visually examined using photographs taken with an optical microscope and a scanning electron microscope. The surface roughness of the coatings was investigated with a 3D profilometer. The thickness of the coatings was determined through the analysis of the microstructure images, while the adhesion of the coatings was characterized using the scratch test method. The results indicate that the surface roughness of the coatings sprayed on the two different substrates gradually decreases as gas temperature and gas pressure increase. Additionally, the thickness and adhesion of the coatings deposited on the two different substrates both increase with an increase in gas temperature and gas pressure. Comparing the surface roughness, thickness, and adhesion of the coatings deposited on the two different substrates, the surface roughness and adhesion of the coatings on the soft substrate are greater than those of the coatings on the hard substrate, while the thickness of the coatings is not obviously affected by the hardness of the substrate. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that the surface roughness, thickness, and adhesion of the copper-coated graphite and copper composite coatings sprayed on the two different substrates exhibit a distinct linear relationship with particle velocity. The current work investigates the possibility of fabricating additive manufacturing products in solid-state form, from AA2011-T6 of 40 mm diameter rods as a feedstock, using an additive friction stir deposition (A-FSD) technique. The use of large diameter feedstocks, especially high-strength aluminum alloys (2XXX series), is a challenge, as it necessitates high power and the critical selection of the optimal A-FSD parameters, such as feed rate and spindle rotation speed. The study included applying a wide range of spindle rotation speeds, ranging from 400 to 1200 rpm, at three levels of feeding rates of 1, 3, and 5 mm/min. The AA2011-T6 friction stir deposited parts (FSDPs) were visually evaluated. This was followed by an examination of macrostructures through the thickness of the fabricated specimens. The characterization of microstructures was also carried out using optical microscopy and a scanning electron microscope equipped with advanced EDS analysis. Furthermore, the mechanical properties in terms of hardness and compressive strength of the AA2011-T6 base material (BM) and deposited materials were evaluated. Sound, additively manufactured products were successfully fabricated from 40 mm diameter AA2011-T6 feedstocks using the suggested deposition variables of 600 and 800 rpm spindle speeds and feeding rates of 1, 3, and 5 mm/min. The results indicated that the spindle speed and feeding rate govern the quality of the FSDPs. Furthermore, the axial load during the A-FSD process increased with increasing these parameters. In comparison to the AA2011-T6 BM, the additively deposited materials showed a refined grain structure and uniform dispersion of the fragment precipitates in their continuous multi-layers. The reduction ratio in grain size attains 71.56%, 76%, and 81.31% for the FSDPs processed at 800 rpm spindle speed and feeding rates of 1, 3 and 5 mm/min, respectively, compared to the grain size of BM. The Al2Cu and Al7Cu2Fe intermetallics are detected in the AA2011-T6 BM, and their deposited parts are in different shapes of spherical, almost spherical, irregular, and rod-like shapes. The compressive strength and hardness of the deposited parts increased with increasing spindle speed and feeding speeds. At a spindle speed of 800 rpm and a 5 mm/min feeding rate, the higher hardness and compressive strength gained were 85% and 93%, respectively, from that of the AA2011-T6 feedstock. Friction stir-spot welding (FSSW) as a solid-state joining process for local welding offers a number of benefits for applications in the automotive, aerospace, and marine industries. In these industries, and from an economic point of view, producing spot welds at a low rotating speed and in a short time is critical for saving energy and enhancing productivity. This investigation helped fill a knowledge gap in the literature about FSSW of 4 mm similar lap joints of AA5052-H32 sheet materials, in which welding takes place over a short time period with a slow tool rotation speed. Consequently, the purpose of this work was to investigate the feasibility of FSSW 2 mm thick AA5052-H32 aluminum alloy sheets to produce 4 mm thick similar spot lap joints at various low dwell times of 1, 2, and 3 s and a constant relatively low tool rotation speed of 500 rpm. The introduced heat input for the friction stir-spot welded (FSSWed) lap joints was calculated based on the applied processing parameters. Joint appearance, cross-section macrostructures, and microstructure features of all the spot welds were evaluated. The mechanical properties (hardness contour maps and maximum tensile shear loads) were also examined. The results show that joining 2 mm sheet thickness AA5052-H32 at a low heat input in defect-free similar lap joints could be successfully achieved. The stir zone (SZ) region became wider as the dwell time increased from 1 to 3 s. The hardness value of the SZ was higher than that attained by the AA5052-H32 base material (BM) for all applied dwell times. Especially at 2 s, the hardness of the SZ was approximately 48% higher than that of the BM. This increase in hardness may be attributed to the high grain refinement of the new dynamically recrystallized grain (4 µm) in the SZ compared to the cold-rolled BM grain size (40 µm). Among the tried FSSW process variables, the dwell time of 2 s at a rotation rate of 500 rpm also produced the maximum tensile shear load of 4330 N. Finally, the locations and features of the fracture surfaces of the FSSWed joints were examined using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and the obtained results were discussed. The effect of shot peen forming on the corrosion-resistant of 2024 aluminum alloy in a salt spray environment was studied with an electrochemical workstation. The surface morphology and cross sectional morphology of the original and shot peen-formed sample were studied by a scanning electron microscope. After shot peen forming, the salt spray corrosion resistance of 2024 aluminum alloy was worsened (the corrosion rates of the original alloy and the shot peen-formed alloy were 0.10467 mg/(cm2·h) and 0.27333 mg/(cm2·h), respectively, when the salt spray corrosion time was 5 h). The radius of capacitive reactance arc of the sample subjected to shot peen forming was smaller than that of the original sample. When the salt spray corrosion time was 5 h, the doping density (NA) of the original alloy was 2.5128 × 10−13/cm3. After shot peen forming, the NA of the alloy increased to 15 × 10−13/cm3. For the shot peen-formed sample, pitting corrosion first occurred in the crater lap zone and became severe with salt spray time. The cross sectional morphology of both original and the shot peen-formed samples shows that severe intergranular corrosion occurred in the salt spray environment. The article presents the dependence of the morphology as well as micromechanical and sclerometric properties of Al2O3 layers on the parameters of anodizing of aluminum alloys. The oxide layers were produced on the EN AW-5251 aluminum alloy by means of a direct current anodizing in a three-component electrolyte. The input variables (current density and electrolyte temperature) were selected based on the overall design of the experiment. The current density was 1, 2, 3 A/dm2, and the electrolyte temperature was 283, 293, 303 K. The surface morphology was examined using a scanning electron microscope (SEM), and then the microscopic images were analyzed using a graphics program. The micromechanical and sclerometric properties were examined by determining the HIT hardness and three critical loads: Lc1 (critical load at which the first damage of the tested layers occurred-Hertz tensile cracks inside the crack), Lc2 (critical load at which the first cohesive damage of the layers occurred) and Lc3 (load at which the layers were completely damaged). Sclerometric tests with the use of scratch tests were supplemented with pictures from a scanning microscope, showing the scratches. The produced layers are characterized by a hardness above 3 GPa and a porosity of 4.9–10.3%. Metal matrix composites (MMCs) are a special class of materials carrying combined properties that belongs to alloys and metals according to market demands. Therefore, they are used in different areas of industry, and the properties of this type of material are useful in engineering applications. Machining of such composites is of great importance to finalize the fabrication process with improved part quality. However, the process implies several challenges due to the complexity of the cutting processes and random material structure. The current study aims to examine machinability characteristics. Effects of turning a metal matrix composite built of Al2O3 sinter, saturated with an EN AC-44000 AC-AlSi11 alloy, are presented in this paper. In the present study, a turning process of new metal matrix composites was carried out to determine the state-of-the-art material for various engineering applications. During the turning process, the cutting forces, a tool's wear, and surface roughness were investigated. Further, the SEM (scanning electron microscope) analysis of cutting inserts was performed. The influence of MMC structure on the machining process and surface roughness was studied. The Al2O3 reinforcements were used in different graininess. Effects of conventional turning of the metal matrix composite with Al2O3 sinter of FEPA (Federation of European Producers of Abrasives) 046 and FEPA 100 grade were compared. Results analysis of these tests showed the necessity of continuing research on turning metal matrix composites built of an AlSi alloy and Al2O3 ceramic reinforcement. The study showed the properties of MMCs that influenced machinability. In this paper, the influence of feed rate's value on surface roughness was carried out. The experimental temperature is 613.15~763.15 K, and the strain rate is 0.01~10 s−1. The hot compression creep test of the 6082-T6 aluminum alloy sample is carried out by Gleeble-3500 hot compression simulation compressor, and its creep behavior is studied by scanning electron microscope. The results show that the DRX crystal has an irregular shape and that content of the Mg phase, Si phase, and Mn phase in the crystal are the main factors to change the color of DRX crystal. Temperature and strain rate are important factors affecting dynamic recrystallization. Reducing temperature and increasing strain rate will weaken dynamic recrystallization, and DRX critical condition and peak stress (strain) will increase. The constitutive equation of hot creep of 6082 aluminum alloy was established by introducing the work hardening rate-rheological stress curve, and the relationship between DRX critical condition, peak stress (strain) and parameter Z during creep was explored. Based on the Av rami equation, the prediction equation of the DRX volume fraction is established. With the increase of strain, DRX volume fraction is characterized by slow increase, then rapid increase and then slowly increase. In the hot -forming extrusion process of 6082 aluminum alloy, according to the volume fraction prediction equation, the DRX can be reduced, and the internal structure of the material can be optimized by changing the extrusion conditions and particle size. Reducing the loose-layer-to-dense-layer ratio in PEO coatings on aluminum and its alloys is the key to improving their corrosion resistance and expanding their applications in the aerospace industry and other fields. In this paper, we describe the discharge evolution during the PEO process in exhaustive detail and report the appearance of a novel "chain-like" discharge for the first time. We investigated the microstructure and composition of PEO coatings using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with an energy-dispersive spectrometer (EDS) and an X-ray diffractometer (XRD). The results reflected that the coating composition changed from amorphous Al2O3 to crystalline γ-Al2O3 and α-Al2O3 phases with the evolution of the plasma spark discharge state. We evaluated the electrochemical behavior of the coatings using a potentiodynamic polarization curve and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution. Under "chain-like" discharge, the icorr of the coating on Al was 8.564 × 10–9 A∙cm−2, which was five orders of magnitude lower than that of the sample without the PEO coating. Moreover, we evaluated the adhesion strength of the coatings at different stages using a pull-off test. The adhesion strength of the PEO coatings at stage V reached 70 MPa. Furthermore, the high content of α-Al2O3 increased the hardness of the coating to 2000 HV. Therefore, the "chain-like" discharge promoted the formation of a single dense layer with 2.8% porosity and that demonstrated excellent properties. To determine the Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman (GTN)damage model parameters of 6061 aluminum alloy after secondary heat treatment, the uniaxial tensile test was carried out on the aluminum alloy circular arc specimen, and the mechanical properties parameters and the load-displacement curve of aluminum alloy tube were obtained. With the help of the finite element reverse method, scanning electron microscope and a orthogonal test method, the GTN damage model parameters (f0, fN, fC, and fF) were calibrated, and their values were 0.004535, 0.04, 0.1, and 0.2135, respectively. Then the shear specimen and notch specimen were designed to verify the damage model, the results show that the obtained GTN damage model parameters can effectively predict the fracture failure of 6061 aluminum alloy after secondary heat treatment during the tensile process. Friction stir spot welding (FSSW) is one of the important variants of the friction stir welding (FSW) process. FSSW has been developed mainly for automotive applications where the different thickness sheets spot welding is essential. In the present work, different thin thickness sheets (1 mm and 2 mm) of AA6082-T6 were welded using FSSW at a constant dwell time of 3 s and different rotation speeds of 400, 600, 800, and 1000 rpm. The FSSW heat input was calculated, and the temperature cycle experience during the FSSW process was recorded. Both starting materials and produced FSSW joints were investigated by macro- and microstructural investigation, a hardness test, and a tensile shear test, and the fractured surfaces were examined using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The macro examination showed that defect-free spot joints were produced at a wide range of rotation speeds (400–1000 rpm). The microstructural results in terms of grain refining of the stir zone (SZ) of the joints show good support for the mechanical properties of FSSW joints. It was found that the best welding condition was 600 rpm for achieving different thin sheet thicknesses spot joints with the SZ hardness of 95 ± 2 HV0.5 and a tensile shear load of 4300 ± 30 N. The stress corrosion cracking (SCC) of different aging states for 7050 aluminum alloy in 3.5% sodium chloride aqueous solution has been studied by means of double cantilever beam (DCB) specimens, cathodic polarization, scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and time-of-flying second ion mass spectrometer (ToF-SIMS). The results showed that the susceptibility to SCC (Iscc) of 7050 aluminum alloy decreases with increasing the aging time. When a cathodic polarization potential of -1100 mV was applied to DCB specimens, the ion current intensity of hydrogen (IH +) near the crack tip and Iscc increased obviously, thus the degree of the diffusion of hydrogen into the grain boundary become more serious. The observation of microstructure indicated that the precipitates on the grain boundary become coarse and are sparsely distributed with increasing the aging time of 7050 aluminum alloy. This study proposed a rotary back extrusion (RBE) process for an open punch, which is used to produce high-performance 7075 aluminum alloy cup-shaped piece. The RBE experiment was carried out on the Gleeble-3500 testing machine at 400 °C and compared with the conventional back extrusion (CBE). The microstructure was analyzed by optical microscope, scanning electron microscope and DEFORM-3D simulation software. The results shown that compared with CBE, RBE can significantly increase the equivalent strain value and deformation uniformity of 7075 aluminum alloy cup-shape pieces. RBE deformation increases the accumulated strain of the piece, and the rotation of the die causes the piece to produce shear strain, which increases the overall strain of the cup-shape piece. The proportion of dynamic recrystallization increases, and the grain refinement was obvious. The micro-hardness value of the RBE sample is higher than that of the CBE sample, which could be the result of grain refinement strengthening. The microstructural and wear properties of laser-cladding WC/Ni-based layer on Al–Si alloy were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) and wear-testing. The results show that, compared with the original specimen, the microhardness and wear resistance of the cladding layer on an Al–Si alloy were remarkably improved, wherein the microhardness of the layer achieved 1100 HV and the average friction coefficient of the layer was barely 0.14. The mainly contributor to such significant improvement was the generation of a WC/Ni-composite layer of Al–Si alloy during laser cladding. Two types of carbides, identified as M7C3 and M23C6, were found in the layer. The wear rate of the layer first increased and then decreased with the increase in load; when the load was 20 N, 60 N and 80 N, the wear rate of layer was1.89 × 10−3 mm3·m−1, 3.73 × 10−3 mm3·m−1 and 2.63 × 10−3 mm3·m−1, respectively, and the average friction coefficient (0.14) was the smallest when the load was 60 N. The paper deals with research related to the production of metal cellular aluminium systems, in which production is based on the application of sodium chloride particles. In this paper, the properties of porous aluminium materials that were produced by an unconventional method—by pressing salt particles into the melt of aluminium alloy—are described. The new methodology was developed and verified for the production of these materials. The main feature of this methodology is a hydraulic forming press and a simple-shaped foundry mould. For these purposes, four different groups of sodium chloride particle sizes (1 to 3, 3 to 5, 5 to 7 and 8 to 10 mm) were applied. The preferred aluminium foundry alloy (AlSi12) was used to produce the porous aluminium samples. Based upon this developed methodology, samples of porous aluminium materials were produced and analysed. Their weight and volume were monitored, their density and relative density were calculated, and their porosity was determined. In addition, the porosity of samples and continuity of their air cells were monitored as well. An industrial computed tomograph and a scanning electron microscope were applied for these purposes. In this paper, Al-Fe-Si-Zn-Cu (AA8079) matrix composites with several weight percentages of B4C (0, 5, 10, and 15) were synthesized by powder metallurgy (PM). The essential amount of powders was milled to yield different compositions such as AA8079, AA8079-5 wt.%B4C, AA8079-10 wt.%B4C, and AA8079-15 wt.%B4C. The influence of powder metallurgy parameters on properties' density, hardness, and compressive strength was examined. The green compacts were produced at three various pressures: 300 MPa, 400 MPa, and 500 MPa. The fabricated green compacts were sintered at 375 °C, 475 °C, and 575 °C for the time period of 1, 2 and 3 h, respectively. Furthermore, the sintered samples were subjected to X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, Energy Dispersive Analysis (EDAX), and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) examinations. The SEM examination confirmed the uniform dispersal of B4C reinforcement with AA8079 matrix. Corrosion behavior of the composites samples was explored. To clarify the understanding and analysis of arc molten marks in electrical faults of aluminum alloy wires, this paper simulates overcurrent faults of aluminum alloy wires at currents of 128 A–224 A and uses thermogravimetry-differential scanning calorimetry (TG-DSC), optical microscope (OM), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray energy spectroscopy (EDS) to characterize the effects of current on the microstructure of arc beads. The results show that there are small and large amounts of Al-Si and Al-Fe binary phases in the metallographic structure of the aluminum alloy wires at the rated current, the grains are fine, and there are no significant grain boundaries. After an overcurrent fault occurs in the wires, a high-temperature arc causes the second phase in the aluminum alloy to disappear, a cellular dendritic metallographic structure appears, the grain boundaries become more well-defined, and composition segregation occurs at the grain boundaries. Using Image-Pro-Plus software to quantify the grain characteristics, the average grain size is found to gradually decrease as the current increases. In addition, by comparing and analyzing the characteristics of arc beads in aluminum wires and aluminum alloy wires under the same conditions, alloying elements are found to have a refining effect on the grain boundaries, and there are coarse precipitates at the grain boundaries in the aluminum wire arc beads. In order to evaluate the elevated temperature creep performance of the ABOw/Al–12Si composite as a prospective piston crown material, the tensile creep behaviors and creep fracture mechanisms have been investigated in the temperatures range from 250 to 400 °C and the stress range from 50 to 230 MPa using a uniaxial tensile creep test. The creep experimental data can be explained by the creep constitutive equation with stress exponents of 4.03–6.02 and an apparent activation energy of 148.75 kJ/mol. The creep resistance of the ABOw/Al–12Si composite is immensely improved by three orders of magnitude, compared with the unreinforced alloy. The analysis of the ABOw/Al–12Si composite creep data revealed that dislocation climb is the main creep deformation mechanism. The values of the threshold stresses are 37.41, 25.85, and 17.36 at elevated temperatures of 300, 350 and 400 °C, respectively. A load transfer model was introduced to interpret the effect of whiskers on the creep rate of this composite. The creep test data are very close to the predicted values of the model. Finally, the fractographs of the specimens were analyzed by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), the fracture mechanisms of the composites at different temperatures were investigated. The results showed that the fracture characteristic of the ABOw/Al–12Si composite exhibited a macroscale brittle feature range from 300 to 400 °C, but a microscopically ductile fracture was observed at 400 °C. Additionally, at a low tensile creep temperature (300 °C), the plastic flow capacity of the matrix was poor, and the whisker was easy to crack and fracture. However, during tensile creep at a higher temperature (400 °C), the matrix was so softened that the whiskers were easily pulled out and interfacial debonding appeared. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Tool wear is a major cause of accelerated tool failure during the milling of aluminum alloy. The periodically cutting force directly affect the cutting heat and tool wear due to the intermittent cutting characteristics of the milling process. The focus of this paper is to analyze the influence of the variation of cutting force on tool wear behavior. The change law of cutting force by cutting parameters was analyzed firstly. Secondly, the variation of the wear land width (VB) of tool flank face by the milling length was analyzed. Thirdly, the wear morphology and the energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) results of tool rake face and flank face in different cutting parameters were observed by tungsten filament scanning electron microscope. Finally, considering the cutting force effect, the tool wear mechanism during high-speed milling of Aluminum-Alloy Die Castings 12 (ADC12, 12 means aluminum number 12) was analyzed. The cutting force in tangential direction is predominant during high-speed milling aluminum alloy, which decreases gradually with the increase of cutting speed but increases gradually with the feed rising. The adhesion-oxidation wear was main wear mechanism of tool rake face during high-speed milling. While adhesive wear was the main wear mechanism of the tool flank face during high-speed milling. It is found that the formation of adhesive wear is the process from particle adhesion to melting until the formation of adhesive layer, which related to the change of cutting force. This paper explores the joining of materials by a new progressive method of thermal drilling. Many types of joints are utilized in industrial production, especially in the automotive industry, which requires the joining of different types of materials with different thicknesses. For these needs, it will be appropriate to apply the joining method of thermal drilling technology. The used material, its mechanical properties, and the preparation of the joint by assembly and disassembly operations play an equally important role. By using new friction technologies, we can reduce production time, increase joint quality, offer automation in certain types of operations, save economic costs, and protect the environment. In this contribution, the authors present the results of their scientific research work focused on an investigation, comparison and testing of thermal drilling effects on the behavior of aluminum alloys (AlMgSi). The holes, collars and bushings formed by the drilling method were subjected to visual shape evaluation. Based on the evaluation of the samples, the quality of the evaluated joints was assessed. The best shape and strength properties at higher speeds of the drilling machine were obtained at 3400 rpm. The results of the methods of macroscopy and microscopy investigations, as well as the results of the methods of scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDS), are presented in this contribution. In this paper, thermophysical and viscoelastic dynamic mechanical measurements (DMA) were performed for bare and clad aluminum AW-2024-T3 alloys. Specific heat, thermal diffusivity, and dynamic module (storage and loss) tests were performed in the range of 50 to 500 °C, except for DMA ones (RT–400 °C). All tests were carried out using the following specialized measuring stands: a light flash apparatus (LFA), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), and a dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA). The microstructures and compositions of alloys were investigated by light microscope (LM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Furthermore, Vickers micro-hardness measurements were conducted prior to and after DSC studies. Different precipitation kinetics of the θ′ and S′ metastable phases in the bare 2024-T3 compared to the clad alloy were observed by DSC. Additionally, the DSC results for a few selected scan rates were analyzed by the Kissinger method to give activation energies for the precipitation of θ′ and S′ metastable phases in the alloys. The apparent activation energy of the θ′ and S′ phases corresponds to 137.1 ± 4.4 kJ ·   mol − 1 for the bare alloy and 131.0 ± 6.0 (exo) and 104.1 ± 2.1 (exo) (two peaks) for the clad alloy. This paper studies the compound effect of liquid medium and laser on the workpiece and analyses the law of material surface temperature change during the processing. Taking 7075-T6 aluminum alloy as the research object, the surface temperature field of aluminum alloy processed using water-jet-assisted laser machining under different process parameters was simulated using finite element software. In addition, the temperature field of the material surface was detected in real-time using the self-built water-jet-assisted laser machining temperature field detection system, and the processing results were observed and verified using an optical microscope, scanning electron microscope, and energy spectrum analyzer. The results show that when the water jet inflow angle is 45°, the heat-affected area of the material surface is the smallest, and the cooling effect of the temperature field of the material surface is better. Considering the liquidus melting point of 7075 aluminum alloys, it is concluded that the processing effect is better when the water jet velocity is 14 m·s−1, the laser power is 100 W, and the laser scanning speed is 1.2 mm·s−1. At this time, the quality of the tank is relatively good, there are no cracks in the bottom of the tank, and there is less slag accumulation. Compared with anhydrous laser etching, water-jet-assisted laser etching can reduce the problems of micro-cracks, molten slag, and the formation of a recast layer in laser etching and improve the quality of the workpiece, and the composition of the bottom slag does not change. This study provides theoretical guidance and application support for the selection and optimization of process parameters for water-jet-assisted laser etching of aluminum alloy and further enriches the heat transfer mechanism of multi-field coupling in the process of water-jet-assisted laser machining. The effects of ultrasonic introduced by L-shaped sonotrodes made of high-temperature-resistant ceramic on the microstructure and macro-segregation of solidifying 15t AA2219 aluminum alloy ingots have been examined in the present study. The macroscopic morphology of the corrosion of the sonotrode has been observed. Grain refinement has been observed, the shape and size of the precipitated phase of the ingot were counted, and the degree of segregation along the transverse direction at 500 mm from the head of the ingot has been evaluated. The results reveal that the L-shaped ceramic ultrasonic introduction device can effectively avoid the erosion of high-temperature melt on the sonotrode and the heat radiation of the high-temperature heat flow to the transducer. Furthermore, the scanning electron microscope (SEM) and chemical composition detection results also indicate that the inter-dendritic micro-segregation of the equiaxed grains can be reduced, and the macro-segregation of the chemical composition of the ingot can be suppressed, and more homogeneous microstructures can be obtained when ultrasonic has been applied during solidification.
