With diminishing natural aggregate resources and increasing environmental protection efforts, the use of recycled fine aggregate is a more sustainable approach, although challenges persist in achieving comparable mechanical properties. Exploration into the incorporation of steel fibers with recycled aggregate has led to the development of steel-fiber-reinforced recycled aggregate concrete. This study investigates the shrinkage performance and compressive constitutive relationship of steel fiber recycled concrete with different steel fibers and recycled aggregate dosages. Initially, based on different replacement rates of recycled coarse aggregate and different volume contents of steel fiber, experimental results demonstrate that as the replacement rate of recycled coarse aggregate increases, shrinkage also increases, while the addition of steel fiber can mitigate this effect. An empirical shrinkage model for steel fiber recycled concrete under natural curing conditions is also proposed. Subsequently, based on the uniaxial compression test, findings indicate that with an increasing replacement rate of recycled fine aggregate, the peak stress and elastic modulus of concrete decrease, accompanied by an increase in peak strain, and the addition of steel fiber limits concrete crack development and enhances its brittleness while the peak stress and strain of recycled fine aggregate concrete are enhanced. However, the steel fiber volume percentage has a negligible effect on the elastic modulus. A constitutive relationship for concrete considering the effects of recycled fine aggregate and steel fiber is also proposed. This finding provides foundational support for the influence patterns of steel fiber dosage and recycled aggregate ratio on the mechanical properties of steel fiber recycled concrete. In the cutting process, there are many parameters that affect the cutting effect, and the same parameter has different degrees of influence on different performance indicators, which makes it difficult to select key parameters for parameter optimization and parameter combination evaluation while considering multiple performance indicators at the same time. The process of titanium alloy milling with an integrated end mill is studied herein. The values of cutting tool flank face wear and material removal rates are obtained with experimental and analytical methods. Numerical characteristics and causes of the cutting tool flank face wear at different stages are also analyzed. The dynamic, comprehensive evaluation method based on the double incentives model is used to evaluate the dynamic, comprehensive importance of cutting parameters in view of the problem of considering multiple performance indicators and the characteristics of the dynamic change in performance indicators in the cutting process. According to the result of a dynamic, comprehensive evaluation, the cutting parameters with the highest comprehensive importance are selected. Finally, the radar map is used to plot the comprehensive importance of the cutting parameters. The overall comprehensive importance of each cutting parameter is intuitively displayed as well. As a result of the research, the dynamic, comprehensive evaluation method based on the double incentives model has a good application value in the evaluation of tool performance in the cutting process and can quickly select the best tool performance parameter combination; it is established that the most comprehensive parameter is the cutting speed, and the cutting width is the second most important. Medium-carbon, high-strength steels are widely used in the field of hydrogen energy because of their good mechanical properties, and they can be readily tailored by heat treatment processes such as the normalizing–tempering (N&T) and quenching–tempering (Q&T) methods. The hydrogen embrittlement (HE) susceptibility of a medium-carbon, high-strength steel was investigated utilizing microstructural characterization with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) technique, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). A study was also conducted on the steel's hydrogen transport behavior as affected by the N&T and Q&T treatments. The steel contained more hydrogen traps, such as dislocations, grain boundaries, lath boundaries, and carbide interfaces, after the Q&T process, which was associated with a lower HE sensitivity when comparing the two treatments. In comparison, the N&T process produced larger-size and lesser-density carbides distributed along the grain boundaries, and this resulted in a relatively higher HE susceptibility, as revealed by the slow-strain-rate tensile (SSRT) tests of the hydrogen-charged steels and by the fractographic study of the fracture surface. The effect of hydrogen content on the deformation and fracture behavior of 27Cr−4Mo−2Ni super ferritic stainless steel (SFSS) was investigated in this study. It was shown that the plasticity and yield strength of SFSS were very susceptible to hydrogen content. The introduction of hydrogen led to a significant decrease in elongation and a concurrent increase in yield strength. Nevertheless, a critical threshold was identified in the elongation reduction, after which the elongation remained approximately constant even with more hydrogen introduced, while the yield strength exhibited a monotonic increase with increasing hydrogen content within the experimental range, attributed to the pinning effect of the hydrogen Cottrell atmosphere on dislocations. Furthermore, the hydrogen-charged SFSS shows an apparent drop in flow stress after upper yielding and a reduced work hardening rate during the subsequent plastic deformation. Cu-Be alloys exhibit excellent comprehensive performance in electrics, thermotics, and mechanics, and hence, they attract much attention. Among them, low-Be copper alloys are more environmentally friendly and promising. This study explores the effects of different Ni contents and heat treatment parameters on the properties, microstructures, and precipitates of Cu-0.2 wt% Be-x wt% Ni (0 < x < 2.0) alloys. The experimental results demonstrate that the fast cooling rate of cast alloys during solidification contributes to retention of the solute atoms in the copper matrix, which is beneficial for subsequent solid solution treatment. Furthermore, solid solution treatment slightly reduces the electrical conductivities, microhardness values, and compressive yield strengths of Cu-0.2 wt% Be-1.0/1.6 wt% Ni alloys. The optimal solution temperature and time are about 925 ℃ and 60 min, respectively. Aging treatment significantly increases the electrical conductivities, microhardness values, and compressive yield strengths of Cu-0.2 wt% Be-1.0/1.6 wt% Ni alloys. The best aging temperature is around 450 ℃. However, the properties of Cu-0.2 wt%Be-0.4 wt%Ni alloys remain unaffected by solution and aging treatments. Around x = 1.0, Cu-0.2 wt% Be-x wt% Ni alloys possess the best comprehensive properties, which are about 72%IACS of electrical conductivity, 241 HV of microhardness, and 281MPa of compressive yield strength, respectively. TEM and EDS analyses reveal that the precipitate evolution of Cu-0.2 wt% Be-1.0 wt% Ni alloys with aging time is GP zones → γ″ → γ′. Notably, a distinct double-peak age strengthening phenomenon emerges with Cu-0.2 wt% Be-1.0/1.6 wt% Ni alloys. The precipitation of plenty of GP zones at the early stage of aging should account for the first strengthening peak, and the strengthening mechanism transformation of the γ″ or γ′ phase from shear to Orowan should induce the second strengthening peak. In recent years, with the rapid development of the economy and great progress in science and technology, people have become increasingly concerned about their quality of life and physical health. In order to pursue a higher life, various functional and biomimetic textiles have emerged one after another and have been sought after by people. There are many animal and plant surfaces with special wettability in nature, and their unique "micro-nano structures" and low surface energy have attracted extensive attention from researchers. Researchers have prepared various textiles with superhydrophobic features by mimicking these unique structures. This review introduces the typical organisms with superhydrophobicity in nature, using lotus, water strider, and cicada as examples, and describes their morphological features and excellent superhydrophobicity. The theoretical model, commonly used raw materials, and modification technology of superhydrophobic surfaces are analyzed. In addition, the application areas and the current study status of superhydrophobic surfaces for textiles are also summarized. Construction and agricultural waste recycling have gained more and more attention recently as renewable resources. Straw and construction waste, both of which are widespread in northern Fujian, were investigated in this research. The orthogonal test was used to investigate the effects of recycled aggregate, straw, and glazed hollow beads on the mechanical and thermal properties of recycled insulation concrete. The influence of different factors on the macroscopic characteristics of recycled insulation concrete was examined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The optimal mix proportion for recycled insulation concrete that satisfies mechanical performance standards and provides superior insulation performance was then determined using the total efficacy coefficient method. According to the research findings, the heat conductivity of recycled insulation concrete decreases as its dried density decreases. A 100% recycled coarse aggregate replacement rate, 1% straw content, and 10% glazed hollow beads replacement rate are the optimal mix ratios for recycled insulation concrete. With a compressive strength of 20.98 MPa, a splitting tensile strength of 2.01 MPa, a thermal conductivity of 0.3776 W/(m · K), and a dry density of 1778.66 kg/m3, recycled insulation concrete has the optimal mix ratio. Recycled insulation concrete is a novel form of eco-friendly, energy-saving concrete that aims to achieve low-carbon energy savings and sustainable development by combining resource recycling with building energy savings to realize the recycling of solid waste resources, which has significant environmental, social, and economic benefits and broad market application potential. In this study, the basalt fiber content (0%, 0.075%, and 0.15%) and replacement ratio of recycled coarse aggregate (0%, 50%, and 100%) were used as parameters, and the compressive strength of 15 cubes and 15 prisms was analyzed. The failure morphology of the specimens was characterized, and the cubic compressive strength, axial compressive strength, elastic modulus, Poisson's ratio, and other mechanical property indices of the specimens were measured. Upon increasing the replacement ratio, the degree of damage of the specimens gradually increased, whereas the cubic compressive strength, axial compressive strength, and elastic modulus gradually decreased. As the replacement ratio was increased from 50% to 100%, the cubic compressive strength and elastic modulus were noted to decrease the most by about 9.07% and 9.87%, respectively. On the other hand, the Poisson's ratio first decreased, followed by an increase. Upon increasing the fiber content, the degree of damage of the specimens was gradually reduced, whereas the cubic compressive strength, axial compressive strength, and elastic modulus gradually increased. As the fiber content increased from 0.075% to 0.15%, the axial compressive strength and elastic modulus increased the most by about 6.65% and 10.19%, respectively. On the other hand, the Poisson's ratio gradually decreased. Based on the test data, the functional relationships between the strength indices and different variables, as well as the conversion value of each strength index and different variables were established; after comparison and verification, the formula calculation results were found to be in good agreement with the test results. The microstructural changes in the basalt fiber reinforced recycled aggregate concrete were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the changes in the mechanical properties of the basalt fiber reinforced recycled aggregate concrete as well as the mechanism of fiber modification and reinforcement were explained from a micro perspective. Under corrosive environments, concrete material properties can deteriorate significantly, which can seriously affect structural safety. Therefore, it has important engineering applications to improve the durability performance at a lower economic cost. This paper proposes a new, highly durable concrete using inexpensive construction materials such as basalt fiber, sodium methyl silicate, and inorganic aluminum salt waterproofing agent. With the massive application of sewage treatment projects, the problem of concrete durability degradation is becoming more and more serious. In this paper, five types of concrete are developed for the sewage environment, and the apparent morphology and fine structure of the specimens after corrosion in sewage were analyzed. The density, water absorption, and compressive strength were measured to investigate the deterioration pattern of concrete properties. It was found that ordinary concrete was subject to significant corrosion, generating large deposits of algae on the surface and accompanied by sanding. The new concrete showed superior corrosion resistance compared to conventional concrete. Among other factors, the inorganic aluminum salt waterproofing agent effect was the most prominent. The study found that the strength of ordinary concrete decreased by about 15% in the test environment, while the new concrete had a slight increase. Highlights: Uniaxial compressive stress–strain curves of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) with different carbonation depth were investigated. The effect of carbonation depth on peak stress, strain, elastic modulus, and the relative toughness of RAC was studied. Stress–strain models of recycled aggregate concrete with different carbonation depths were established. The stress–strain relation of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) after carbonation is very important to the assessment of the durability of RAC. The objective of this study is to investigate the uniaxial compressive stress–strain curves of RAC after carbonation. In this study, the specimens were prepared with 70-mm diameter and 140-mm height cylinders, and the carbonation of the specimens was accelerated after curing 28 days. Then a uniaxial compressive loading test on the specimens was performed by using a mechanical testing machine. The results show that the peak stress ( σ 0 ) and elastic modulus ( E c ) of all specimens increase with the increase of carbonation depth. The ratio of ultimate strain to peak strain ( ε u / ε 0 ) and relative toughness of the specimens decrease with the increase of carbonation depth. Furthermore, carbonation has a stronger effect on natural coarse aggregate concrete (NAC) than the 50% replacement rate of RAC with similar compressive strength. Recycled powder (RP) is a by-product of preparing recycled aggregates from construction waste through debris removal, step-by-step crushing, screening, and mechanical strengthening. It is a fine powder with a particle size of less than 75 μm. Reasonable use of RP can increase the utilization rate of construction waste and reduce dust pollution. This study introduces the current research status of RP. It describes the source of RP; the activation mode of activity; the effect on several aspects, such as early performance and mechanical properties of cement-based materials; and its mechanism of action in light of the research and development. Moreover, the linear regression analysis method was used to obtain the mathematical model between the content of RP and the performance of cement-based materials. The correlation degree between the content of RP and the performance of cement-based materials was obtained based on the gray relation analysis method. It was concluded that the change of the content of RP had the most significant influence on the compressive strength of foamed concrete over 28 d. Owing to the high absorption capacity of recycled aggregate (RA), it is crucial to accurately measure its saturated-surface-dried water absorption (WSSD), which largely affects an effective water-to-binder ratio of recycled aggregate concrete. In this study, existing measurement methods for the WSSD of RA are extensively reviewed, including Wiping, Slumping, Centrifugation, Infrared, Evaporation, Airflow drying, Conductivity, Pycnometer, Hydrostatic balance, and Extrapolation. In particular, the physical principles and operability of these methods are emphasized. It was determined that the accuracy of all test results was not satisfactory. For example, the water in pores with an open-ended direction that was opposite to the centrifugal force could largely be retained. In Airflow drying, the temperature change was significantly delayed. In addition, in Hydrostatic balance, RA would pre-absorb water before determining the initial reading. Therefore, several suggestions for optimizing these methods are presented, such as the combination of Evaporation and Airflow drying, the liquid selection in Hydrostatic balance, and the addition of a tiny mixer in each centrifuge tube. Although hydrogen embrittlement (HE) behavior has been extensively studied in bulk materials, little is known about H-related deformation and the fracture of nanograined materials. In this study, H segregation and HE mechanisms of nanograined Fe with different grain sizes are unveiled, following the employment of classical molecular dynamics simulations. The H segregation ratio increased, but the local H concentration at the grain boundaries (GBs) decreased with decreases in the grain size at a given bulk H concentration. The results demonstrate that H atoms increased the yield stress of nanograined models irrespective of the grain size. Furthermore, it is revealed that brittle fractures were inhibited, and the resistance to HE increased as the grain size decreased, due to the fact that the small-grain models had a lower local H concentration at the GBs and an enhanced GB-mediated intergranular deformation. Ternary Mn2FeSi alloy was synthesized from pure elemental powders by mechanical alloying, using a high-energy planetary ball mill. The formation of an inverse-Heusler phase after 168 h of milling and subsequent annealing at 1173 K for 1.5 h was confirmed by X-ray diffraction. The diffractogram analysis yielded XA structure and the lattice parameter 0.5677 nm in a good agreement with the theoretically obtained value of 0.560 nm. The final powder was formed by particles of irregular shape and median diameter D50 of 3.8 μm and their agglomerates. The chemical analysis resulted in the mean composition of 49.0 at.% Mn, 25.6 at.% Fe and 25.4 at.% Si. At room temperature, the prepared samples featured a heterogeneous magnetic structure consisting of dominant paramagnetic phase confirmed by Mössbauer spectrometry and a weak ferro-/ferrimagnetic contribution detected by magnetization curves. As a representative type of superalloy, Inconel 718 is widely employed in aerospace, marine and nuclear industries. The significant work hardening behavior of Inconel 718 can improve the service performance of components; nevertheless, it cause extreme difficulty in machining. This paper aims to investigate the influence of chamfered edge parameters on work hardening in orthogonal cutting of Inconel 718 based on a novel hybrid method, which integrates Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) method and grain-size-based functions considering the influence of grain size on microhardness. Orthogonal cutting experiments and nanoindentation tests are conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The predicted results are highly consistent with the experimental results. The depth of work hardening layer increases with increasing chamfer angle and chamfer width, also with increasing feed rate (the uncut chip thickness). However, the maximum microhardness on the machined surface does not exhibit a significant difference. The ultrahighly nanoporous aerogel is recognized as a state of matter rather than as a functional material, because of its qualitative differences in bulk properties, transitional density and enthalpy between liquid and gas, and diverse chemical compositions. In this review, the characteristics, classification, history and preparation of the aerogel were introduced. More attention was paid to the sol-gel method for preparing different kinds of aerogels, given its important role on bridging the synthetic parameters with the properties. At last, preparation of a novel single-component aerogel, design of a composite aerogel and industrial application of the aerogel were regarded as the research tendency of the aerogel state in the near future. We demonstrate a polarizer-free electro-optical switch using dye-doped liquid crystal (LC) gels. The mechanism of dye-doped LC gels mainly involves the combination of polymer scattering and dye absorption. However, the domain size of polymer networks, dye concentration, LC concentration, and fabrication process can all affect the phase separation process and thus result in dye-doped LC gels with different electro-optical performance. We have studied experimentally the factors which can affect the dye-doped LC gels. The potential applications for dye-doped LC gels are flexible displays and electrically tunable light shutters. In this paper, the evolutions of cutting force, cutting temperature, and surface roughness, and the corresponding machinability in asymmetric up-milling of TC25 alloy are investigated. The results indicated that radial depth of cut generated opposite influence on the cutting force/cutting temperature versus surface roughness. The reason can be accounted as the intertwining of feed marks at low radial depth of cut, and the mechanism of hard cutting at a high radial depth of cut. Moreover, the asymmetry has a significant effect on the machinability in asymmetry up-milling TC25 alloy. Changing the asymmetry, i.e., the radial depth of cut, can alter the machinability while maintain the balanced development of various indexes. The machinability reaches the best when the radial depth of cut is ae = 8 mm. The axial depth of cut and feed per tooth should be selected as large as possible to avoid work hardening and to improve machining efficiency in asymmetric up-milling TC25 alloy. The cutting speed should be controlled within Vc = 100–120 m/min to obtain better machinability. Machined surface integrity characteristics, including surface stresses, physical-mechanical properties and metallographic structures, play important roles in the fatigue performance of machined components. This work aimed at investigating the effects of machined surface integrity on high-temperature low-cycle fatigue life. The process parameters were optimized to obtain required surface integrity and fatigue life of the turning superalloy Inconel 718. The relationships between low-cycle fatigue life and machined surface integrity characterization parameters were established based on the low-cycle fatigue tests at a high temperature (650 °C). The sensitivities of turning process parameters to high-temperature low-cycle fatigue life were analyzed, and the optimization parameters were proposed with the goal of antifatigue manufacturing. Experimental results indicated that the impact order of the characterization parameters of machined surface integrity on the high-temperature low-cycle fatigue life were the degree of work hardening RHV, the residual stress in the cutting speed direction S22, the fatigue stress concentration factor Kf, the degree of grain refinement RD and the residual stress in the feed direction S33. In the range of turning parameters of the experiments in this research, the cutting speeds could be 80~110 m/min, and the feed rate could be 0.10~0.12 mm/rev to achieve a longer high-temperature low-cycle fatigue life. The application of recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) made from waste concrete to replace natural coarse aggregate (NCA) in concrete structures can essentially reduce the excessive consumption of natural resources and environmental pollution. Similar to normal concrete structures, recycled concrete structures would also suffer from the damage of carbonation, which leads to the deterioration of durability and the reduction of service life. This paper presents the experimental results of the cubic compressive strength, the static elastic modulus and the stress–strain relation of recycled coarse aggregate concrete (RAC) after carbonation. The results show that the cubic compressive strength and the static elastic modulus of carbonated RAC gradually increased with the carbonation depth. The uncarbonated and fully carbonated RAC show smaller static elastic modulus than natural aggregate concrete (NAC). As the carbonation depth increased, the peak stress increased, while the peak strain decreased and the descending part of the curves gradually became steeper. As the content of RCA became larger, the peak stress decreased, while the peak strain increased and the descending part of the curves gradually became steeper. Many urgently needed inconel superalloy parts with complex internal cavity geometry and high surface precision are difficult to prepare by traditional subtractive manufacturing methods because of its poor machinability. The additive manufacturing technology that has emerged in recent years became a research hotspot in the manufacture of refractory and difficult-to-process metals. In the present study, selective laser melting (SLM), a typical additive manufacture technology, was used to prepare Inconel 718 samples. The influences of input laser energy density ((E, J/mm3) on densification behavior, phases composition, microstructures, microhardness, and wear performance of the SLM as-built Inconel 718 samples were explored in detail. X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to examine the phase composition and microstructure evolutions. The results show that the formablity, microstructures and mechanical properties of the printed samples were all improved with the increase of E within the parameter setting range of this study. At a lower E, the poor surface morphology and balling effect occurred, the density, hardness, and wear resistance were all at a relatively lower level. When an E value of 190 J/mm was properly set, the surface open-pores and balling effect disappeared, the laser scanning tracks became smooth and continuous, the near-full dense (99.15%) and specimens with good metallurgical bonding and no critical defect were obtained, in which the average microhardness value reached 348 HV0.2 and wear rate was 5.67 × 10−4 mm3/N·m. Sixteen full-scale recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) beams were cast and tested to study their time-dependent behavior under long-term loading. The test parameters include the replacement rate of the recycled coarse aggregates (RCAs), the replacement rate of the recycled fine aggregates (RFAs), the concrete strength, and the stress ratio. The influence of the above variables on the deflection and stiffness is discussed. The results show that the RCAs will increase the deflection of the specimen at a low stress ratio; at a high stress ratio, the beams will experience nonlinear creep, and the deflection of the specimen will be affected by the RCAs and the stress ratio. The RFAs have a substantial influence on the time-dependent behavior of the specimen, and the deflection of the specimen with 100% replacement of recycled aggregates can increase by 30%; the strength of the concrete does not have a substantial influence on the time-dependent behavior of the specimen; and the stress ratio has an influence on the initial deflection of the specimen. A deflection calculation formula is established based on the stress–strain relationship of the beam under long-term loading and the characteristics of the RAC. In this study, an optimum tempering temperature after a thermo-mechanical control process (TMCP) was proposed to improve the hydrogen-induced ductility loss of high-vanadium X80 pipeline steel. The results showed that with increasing tempering temperature from 450 to 650 °C, the size and quantity of granular bainite decreased but the spacing of deformed lath ferrite and the fraction of massive ferrite increased. The number of fine vanadium carbides increased as well. However, as the tempering temperature increased to 700 °C, the microstructure of T700 steel completely converted to massive ferrite and the grain size became larger. Additionally, the amount of nanoscale precipitates decreased again, and the mean size of precipitates evidently increased in T700 steel. The steel tempering at 650 °C, containing the most vanadium precipitates with a size less than 20 nm, had the lowest hydrogen diffusion coefficient and the best resistance to hydrogen-induced ductility loss. Coordination polymers are constructed from metal ions and bridging ligands, linking them into solid-state structures extending in one (1D), two (2D) or three dimensions (3D). Two- and three-dimensional coordination polymers with potential voids are often referred to as metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) or porous coordination polymers. Luminescence is an important property of coordination polymers, often playing a key role in their applications. Photophysical properties of the coordination polymers can be associated with intraligand, metal-centered, guest-centered, metal-to-ligand and ligand-to-metal electron transitions. In recent years, a rapid growth of publications devoted to luminescent or fluorescent coordination polymers can be observed. In this review the use of fluorescent ligands, namely, 4,4′-stilbenedicarboxylic acid, 1,3,4-oxadiazole, thiazole, 2,1,3-benzothiadiazole, terpyridine and carbazole derivatives, naphthalene diimides, 4,4′,4′′-nitrilotribenzoic acid, ruthenium(II) and iridium(III) complexes, boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY) derivatives, porphyrins, for the construction of coordination polymers are surveyed. A 16Cr5NiMo supermartensitic stainless steel was subjected to different tempering treatments and analyzed by means of permeation tests and slow strain rate tests to investigate the effect of different amounts of retained austenite on its hydrogen embrittlement susceptibility. The 16Cr5NiMo steel class is characterized by a very low carbon content. It is the new variant of 13Cr4Ni. These steels are used in many applications, for example, compressors for sour environments, offshore piping, naval propellers, aircraft components and subsea applications. The typical microstructure is a soft-tempered martensite very close to a body-centered cubic, with a retained austenite fraction and limited δ ferrite phase. Supermartensitic stainless steels have high mechanical properties, together with good weldability and corrosion resistance. The amount of retained austenite is useful to increase low temperature toughness and stress corrosion cracking resistance. Experimental techniques allowed us to evaluate diffusion coefficients and the mechanical behaviour of metals in stress corrosion cracking (SCC) conditions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Considering that iron-based super alloy is a kind of difficult-to-cut material, it is easy to produce work hardening and serious tool wear during machining. Therefore, this work aims to explore the chip change characteristics and tool wear mechanism during the processing of iron-based super alloy, calculate the fractal dimensions of chip morphology and tool wear morphology, and use fractals to analyze their change trend. Meanwhile, a new cutting tool with a super ZX coating is used for a high-speed dry turning experiment. The results indicate that the morphology of the chip is saw-tooth, and its color changes gradually, due to the oxidation reaction. The main wear mechanisms of the tool involve abrasive wear, adhesive wear, oxidation wear, coating spalling, microcracking and chipping. The fractal dimension of the tool wear surface and chip is increased with the improvement of cutting speed. This work investigates the fractal characteristics of chip morphology and tool wear morphology. The fractal dimension changes regularly with the change of tool wear, which plays an important role in predicting this tool wear. Pervious concrete is considered to be porous concrete because of its pore structure and excellent permeability. In general, larger porosity will increase the permeability coefficient, but will significantly decrease the compressive strength. The effects of water-cement ratio, fiber types, and fiber content on the permeability coefficient, porosity, compressive strength, and flexural strength were investigated. The pore tortuosity of the pervious concrete was determined by volumetric analysis and two-dimensional cross-sectional image analysis. The concept and calculation method of porosity tortuosity were further proposed. Results show that the permeability coefficient of the pervious concrete is the most suitable with a water-cement ratio of 0.30; the water permeability of the pervious concrete is influenced by fiber diameter. The permeability coefficient of pervious concrete with polypropylene thick fiber (PPTF) is greater than that with copper coated steel fiber (CCF) and the polypropylene fiber (PPF). The permeability coefficient is related to tortuosity and porosity, but when porosity is the same, the permeability coefficient may be different. Hydrophobic surfaces were successfully fabricated on pure nickel substrates by a one-step chemical etching process with different acidic solutions. The static water contact angle (SCA) of the etched Ni surfaces reached higher than 125°, showing excellent hydrophobicity. The examination of surface chemical compositions implied that there were almost no polar moieties on the surface after chemical etching, except part of the surface was oxidized. After chemical etching, the nickel surfaces became much rough with packed terrace-/crater-/thorn-like clusters. According to the analysis of surface composition and morphology, the hydrophobicity was evidently attributed to the rough microstructures on the etched Ni surface. The best hydrophobicity on Ni surface was produced with the SCAs as high as 140.0° by optimizing the etching time and etchants. The results demonstrate that it is possible to construct hydrophobic surfaces on hydrophilic substrates by tailoring the surface microstructure using a simple chemical etching process without any further hydrophobic modifications by low surface energy materials. In this paper, a new recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) was produced with composite coarse aggregate and fine recycled aggregate. The composite coarse aggregate was mixed into continuous gradation by large particle natural aggregate with small particle recycled aggregate. To explore the time-dependent developments of the compressive strength and splitting tensile strength of this new RAC, 320 groups of cubic specimens were tested at different curing ages from 3 days to 360 days to measure the compressive and splitting tensile strengths. The amount of large particle natural aggregate varied from zero to 70% in mass of the total coarse aggregate. The water/cement ratio was taken as 0.60, 0.49, 0.41 and 0.36 to represent four strength grades of the RAC at about C20, C30, C40 and C50. Based on the tested results, the curves of the compressive and tensile strengths of the RAC that changed with curing age are plotted, which clearly exhibit that the amount of large particle natural aggregate had a rational range in different strength grades of the RAC which had better aging strength. When the RAC was no larger than C30 with a water/cement ratio of 0.60 and 0.49, the amount of large particle natural aggregate should be no more than 30%; when the RAC was no less than C40 with a water/cement ratio of 0.41 and 0.36, the amount of large particle natural aggregate should be no less than 50%. Along with the general prediction of the strength development of all the tested RAC, the optimal predictive formulas are proposed for the strength development of RAC with a rational amount of natural aggregate. Meanwhile, the strength developments of RAC with a rational amount of natural aggregate are assessed by the time-dependent models proposed by the ACI Committee 209 and CEB-FIP MC 2010. The use of construction and demolition waste (CDW) to prepare recycled admixtures is of great significance for the complete resource reutilization of CDW. In this paper, different kinds of CDW were prepared into recycled powder (RP) with a specific particle size (0–45 µm or 0–75 µm). The fineness, water requirement ratio (WRR), fluidity, loss on ignition (LOI), strength activity index (SAI) and compatibility of cement and superplasticizer (CCS) were examined. The above test results were analyzed by advanced analysis tools, such as laser particle size analysis, XRD, XRF, DSC-TGA, SEM, and BET. The properties of different types of RPs varied greatly, which was closely related to the microstructure, particle morphology and chemical composition of the RP. The experimental results showed that all kinds of RPs after grinding had a high fineness and good particle size distribution, and the mineral composition was dominated by SiO2 with the content exceeding 50%. The WRR of various RPs was between 105% and 112%, and the SAI was between 68% and 78%, but the LOI varied greatly. Different types of RPs had a negative impact on the CCS, but the compatibility of cement and naphthalene-based superplasticizer was less affected. The content of recycled brick powder (RBP) in a hybrid recycled powder (HRP) was an important factor. Inhibition of residual malignant tumors in patients with colon cancer after operation is one of the difficulties in rehabilitation treatment. At present, using biocompatible materials to remove the copper ion which is the growth dependence of malignant tumors in the lesion site is considered to be the frontier means to solve this problem. In this work, we developed a sodium alginate (SA)/polyethyleneimine (PEI) hydrogel sphere via cross-linking method (SA/SP/SA; SP = SA/PEI) as an oral biomaterial for adsorbing and removing copper ions from colon cancer lesions. The evaluated results showed that the SA/PEI/SA (SPS) hydrogel sphere obtained the largest swelling rate at pH 8.3 which was the acid-base value of colon microenvironment and absorbed more copper ions compared with the SA control. The cell experiment presented that the SPS hydrogel sphere owned better compatibility on normal fibroblasts and promoted higher death of colon cancer cells compared with SA/PEI (SP) and SA control. To improve the structural application of steel fiber-reinforced concrete with recycled aggregates (SFRC-RA) composited in gradation by large-particle natural coarse aggregate and small-particle recycled coarse aggregate, the large eccentric compression behavior of eight SFRC-RA columns was experimentally investigated in this paper. The main parameters considered were the strength of the SFRC-RA and the volume fraction of the steel fiber. Details about the sectional concrete strain, the longitudinal steel bar strain, the lateral displacement, the cracking load, the crack distribution and crack width, and the ultimate load of the SFRC-RA columns were measured. The beneficial effects of steel fiber on these attributes were discussed, and the ductility corresponding to the lateral displacement of the SFRC-RA columns was also analyzed. Based on the test results and design principles, formulas were proposed for predicting the cracking resistance, crack width, and lateral displacement of SFRC-RA columns in a normal service state. The hot deformation behavior of 21-4N heat-resistant steel was studied by hot compression test in a deformation temperature range of 1000–1180 °C, a strain rate range of 0.01–10 s−1 and a deformation degree of 60%, and the stress-strain curves were obtained. The functional relationship between flow stress and process parameters (deformation degree, deformation temperature, strain rate, etc.) of 21-4N heat-resistant steel during hot deformation was explored, the constitutive equation of peak stress was established, and its accuracy was verified. Based on the dynamic material model, the energy dissipation maps and destabilization maps of 21-4N heat-resistant steel were established at strains of 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6, and processing maps were obtained by their superposition. Within the deformation temperature range of 1060~1120°C and a strain rate range of 0.01–0.1 s−1, there is a stable domain with the peak efficiency of about 0.5. The best hot working parameters (strain rate and deformation temperature) of 21-4N heat-resistant steel are determined by the stable and instable domain in the processing maps, which are in the deformation temperature range of 1120–1180 °C and the strain rate range of 0.01–10 s−1. Service performance of components such as fatigue life are dramatically influenced by the machined surface and subsurface residual stresses. This paper aims at achieving a better understanding of the influence of cutting edge microgeometry on machined surface residual stresses during orthogonal dry cutting of Inconel 718. Numerical and experimental investigations have been conducted in this research. The cutting edge microgeometry factors of average cutting edge radius S ¯ , form-factor K, and chamfer were investigated. An increasing trend for the magnitudes of both tensile and compressive residual stresses was observed by using larger S ¯ or introducing a chamfer on the cutting edges. The ploughing depth has been predicted based on the stagnation zone. The increase of ploughing depth means that more material was ironed on the workpiece subsurface, which resulted in an increase in the compressive residual stress. The thermal loads were leading factors that affected the surface tensile residual stress. For the unsymmetrical honed cutting edge with K = 2, the friction between tool and workpiece and tensile residual stress tended to be high, while for the unsymmetrical honed cutting edge with K = 0.5, the high ploughing depth led to a higher compressive residual stress.
