In this study, vinyltriethoxysilane (TEVS) was introduced onto the surface of carbon fiber using liquid-phase oxidation and impregnation methods to incorporate vinyl groups onto the carbon fiber, thereby enhancing the chemical bonding between the carbon fiber and norbornene–polyimide (PI-NA). Through a systematic study of the hydrolysis conditions and concentration of the TEVS solution, the optimal modification conditions were determined. These conditions were used to graft TEVS onto the surface of oxidized carbon fiber to prepare carbon-fiber-reinforced PI-NA composites (CF/PI-NA). The results show that when carbon fiber was treated with a 0.4 wt% TEVS solution, the interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) of the composites reached 65.12 MPa, and the interfacial shear strength (IFSS) reached 88.58 MPa, representing increases of 27.58% and 35.62%, respectively, compared to the CF/PI-NA composite materials prepared from untreated carbon fiber. It is worth noting that the modification method described in the study is simple and easy to implement, and it has the potential for large-scale continuous production applications.

The large thickness COPV is designed by netting theory and the finite element simulation method, but the actual performance is low and the cylinder performance still cannot be improved after increasing the thickness of the composite winding layer. This paper analyzes the reasons for this and puts forward a feasible solution: without changing the thickness of the winding layer, the performance of COPV can be effectively increased by increasing the proportion of annular winding fiber. This method has been verified by tests and is supported by theory.

The heat resistant aluminum alloy wire composite material core conductor (ACCC/HW) which was used in overhead transmission lines is developed and studied in this work. The composite material core is carbon fiber/glass cloth reinforced modified epoxy resin composite. Tensile stress tests and stress-strain tests of both composite core and conductor are taken at 25 °C and 160 °C. Sag test, creep test and current carrying capacity test of composite conductor are taken. The stress of composite conductor are 425.2 MPa and 366.9 MPa at 25 °C and 160 °C, respectively. The sag of conductor of 50 m length are 95 mm, 367 mm, and 371 mm at 25 °C, 110 °C, and 160 °C, respectively. The creep strain are 271 mm/km, 522 mm/km, and 867 mm/km after 10 years under the tension of 15% RTS (Rated Tensile Strength), 25% RTS and 35% RTS at 25 °C, and 628 mm/km under 25% RTS at 160 °C, according to the test result and calculation. The carrying capacity of composite conductor is basically equivalent to ACSR (Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced). ACCC/HW is suitable in overhead transmission lines, and it has been used in 50 kV power grid, according to the results.

Hybrid nanoparticles modified bisphenol A type epoxy/acid anhydride resin system applicable for filament winding forming process was studied using elastic core-shell rubber (CSR) nanoparticles with a large particle size (nearly 100 nm) and rigid nano-SiO2 particles with a small particle size (about 16 nm). The formulation, process properties, mechanical properties, thermal properties and microstructure of modified resin and its wound composite were studied. The results suggested that at the content of 10 phr CSR and 2 phr nano-SiO2, the resin system achieved optimum comprehensive performance. The viscosity of modified resin system was nearly 1000 mPa·s at 25 °C and service life was over 6 h. The resin tensile strength and modulus were 89 MPa and 3.5 GPa, while flexural strength and modulus reached 128 MPa and 3.2 GPa, respectively. The impact strength was 26.6 kJ·m−2, and the glass transition temperature (Tg) reached 145.9 °C. Modified epoxy resin enhanced the mechanical properties of carbon fiber reinforced wound composite. The tensile strength, tensile modulus and interlaminar shear strength were enhanced by 14.0%, 4.56% and 18.9%, respectively, compared with a composite based on unmodified resin. The above test results and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis suggest that the hybrid nanoparticles modified resin system was suitable for carbon fiber wet filament winding products.
