The article presents a water-wall tube panels simulation technique that uses finite element method as well as the power boiler water-wall structure design optimization method. Results of the proposed method verification and its application to the design of boilers of different capacities are discussed. The technique is to replace water-wall tube panels with equivalent plates. Replacement plates’ parameters calculation is reported, panels one-way heating metering is described. Optimization of the water-wall structure design is carried out in two stages: at the first stage, water-wall tube panels are replaced with orthotropic plates; at the second stage, sub-simulation with solid models is used to identify problem areas of the design. Solid-state models of the problem areas get connected to the orthotropic plates at calculated boundary conditions. The described approach improves accuracy of the simulation results and significantly reduces the models complexity and its computation time. The proposed simulation and optimization method has been tested and successfully applied to design power steam boilers with steam generating capacity of 500, 1030 and 1900 tons of steam per hour. As a result, while maintaining the specified reliability and durability, significant reduction of metal content in boiler structure is achieved.

Engineering (General). Civil engineering (General) ,TA1-2040 - Abstract
Precast double walls are frequently used for building applications and consist of a pair of precast reinforced concrete shells connected by a lattice girder creating an inner cavity. Once placed at its final position this cavity is filled with freshly cast and compacted concrete. Aside from benefits such as increased ease in installation, reduced cost and shorter construction time also some pitfalls are recognized. Due to the restrained space and the presence of the truss girder undesired defects (e.g. voids, honeycombing, etc.) might occur without being noticed, as the outer wall elements also act as formwork. This actually might reduce the load capacity and jeopardize the structural integrity of the concrete structure. Therefore, different non-destructive tests are being used in order to assess the filling degree of the cavity in the double walls and to localize defects, with varying success ratio (i.e. the detectability). Different techniques were applied on a test wall with intentionally embedded defects (polystyrene blocks) with varying diameter: rebound hammer, ultrasonic pulse velocity via direct transmission, ultrasonic shear-wave tomography, ground penetrating radar and active infrared thermography. The success and the limits of these techniques for in depth defect localization are being discussed in this paper. The effect of the selected detection method and the surface-on-depth ratio of the defect itself has an effect on its detectability.

Engineering (General). Civil engineering (General) ,TA1-2040 - Abstract
Durability and reliability of machines and mechanisms depends on the structural strength of the products from which they are made. The main requirement for any product is trouble-free operation under the conditions of the established operational period. This determines the requirements for structural materials, the main of which are technological, operational and economic. The production of sintered powder products ensures the lowest energy consumption and the lowest waste. The introduction of carbon into powder materials significantly increases the strength characteristics of the product.

Engineering (General). Civil engineering (General) ,TA1-2040 - Abstract
One of the characteristic features of the structure of the powder material is the increased content of oxide inclusions. In most works considering the influence of oxide inclusions on the fracture process, their contradictory role in the processes of crack initiation and development is noted, which consists, on the one hand, in creating concentrators of internal stresses, increasing the tendency of the material to brittle fracture and in reducing the plastic properties of the material, on the other, when oxide inclusions of appropriate dispersion and distribution in the volume of the matrix prevent the sliding of dislocations, thereby contributing to its strengthening. The positive effect of oxide inclusions on the mechanical properties of the material led to the development of the internal oxidation technology as one of the methods of precipitation hardening of materials.

The paper describes an analytical model for calculating an extreme pressure lubricant layer thickness with an allowance for oil absorption capacity of contacting surfaces. The model is practically assessed in laboratory conditions. The experimenting work shows that the speed of the relative displacement of contacting surfaces and the oil absorption capacity of their rough layers contributes to the thickening of the lubricant. The analysis of the results shows that it is the oil absorption capacity of rough layers that has the strongest influence on the change in the thickness of the extreme pressure lubricant layer.

A composite laminated heat-resistant material was manufactured by the method of spark plasma sintering. The architecture of a bonding layer between a substrate made of a heat-resistant superalloy and a ceramic coating containing sublayers of the intermetallic NiAl and a mixture of NiAl with 15 or 30 wt. % zirconia (8YSZ) is proposed. In a layered composite, the microhardness and thermal conductivity change monotonically on going from the substrate to the outer ceramic. The coefficient of linear thermal expansion of the bonding layer is close to that for ceramics in the operating temperature range.

Engineering (General). Civil engineering (General) ,TA1-2040 - Abstract
The article proposes a simulation model of a loading machine for metallurgical furnaces and builds a mathematical model that makes it possible to find optimal trajectories of motion and obtain laws of change in kinematic, dynamic and inertial characteristics for a full operation cycle. The description of the machine motion is made taking into account the nonholonomy of the imposed connections and provides for the possibility of considering arbitrary laws of motion along optimal trajectories. Compliance with optimal working conditions is also ensured by the choice of a special law of motion between the nodal points on the trajectory of movement, corresponding to the change in the direction of movement of the loading machine. Based on the research results, a design scheme and a simulation model with an analytical description of the mechanism operation, including kinematic graphs, are proposed. A simulation model of a loading machine for metallurgical furnaces and a description of its operation modes are made by methods of analytical mechanics.

Engineering (General). Civil engineering (General) ,TA1-2040 - Abstract
Fiber reinforced plastic bar (FRP-rebar) is a two-component material consisting of polymer matrix (resin) and reinforcing filler (roving). Large-scale implementation of FRP-rebar and improvement of its manufacturing process have resulted in larger bar diameters. However, it is extremely complicated or even impossible to experimentally determine the mechanical properties of this kind of rebar when using standard testing machines. The reason for this is the low cross-direction strength of the rebar. The purpose of the research is to determine the elastic and strength properties of large diameter FRP-rebar by means of finite-element simulation as well as to analyze the influence of the components’ mass fractions and grooving on the mechanical properties being studied. In order to specify the parameters of the FE simulation model the authors performed some supplementary tests aimed at determining the structure of the fiber. A comparative study of the obtained numerical results against the experimental data is presented in the paper.

In this work, the estimated calculated values of the critical parameters of argon isotopes 36Ar, 38Ar, 40Ar and the corresponding values of the constants of the Van der Waals, Redlich-Kwong and Peng-Robinson equations of state are obtained. The data obtained make it possible to calculate the adsorption isotherms of argon isotopes on microporous adsorbents. The technique proposed for obtaining analytical expressions for the adsorption isotherms of argon isotopes at cryogenic temperatures makes it possible to estimate the degree of influence of the pressure of the isotope mixture and its composition on the mixture separations coefficients.

Zirconium oxide powders with different contents of REE concentrate (La, Nd, Pr) in an amount from 25 to 35 mol. % were synthesized by the method of reverse chemical deposition. The effect of the annealing temperature in the range of 600–1200 ° C on the phase transformations of the synthesized powders has been investigated by Raman spectroscopy. It was found that the formation of REE zirconates with a pyrochlore structure occurs after annealing at a temperature of 1000 ° C. At higher annealing temperatures, the presence of tetragonal ZrO2 was noted in the samples with a lower concentrate content in the phase composition. A study of the influence of the sintering temperature of 1400-1600 °C on the densification processes, phase composition and microstructure of ceramic materials based on REE zirconates has been carried out. It has been shown that the densification processes proceed most slowly in a ceramic material with 35 mol.% of rare-earth oxides, and at all sintering temperatures it has a stable phase composition, consisting mainly of rare-earth zirconates with a pyrochlore structure.

Engineering (General). Civil engineering (General) ,TA1-2040 - Abstract
The shear punching of the reinforced concrete slabs is a complex process occurring when considerable force is concentrated on the relatively small area of a column-slab connection. An incorrect assessment of load capacity of slab under the punching shear may lead to an accident. One of the most significant factors affecting the slab capacity is longitudinal reinforcement. In this article much attention is given to the analysis of the longitudinal rebar impact on the maximum loading capacity of reinforced concrete slabs without transverse reinforcement affected by punching shear force using the finite element method. The results obtained via the finite element simulation are compared with laboratory tests and manual calculations carried-out using various methods represented in different national building Codes of practice.

The paper deals with modern geosystem problems and suggests ways of solving them. The main aim of the study is to develop new methods of geosystem preservation on the base of geoecochemistry through geoecochemical reactions. Both theoretical, namely thermodynamic, method and experimental one are used in the research. Three new geoecochemical techniques such as energy economy, soil restoration and alternative technologies are introduced for natural resource preservation. Every technique is estimated with relation to negative changes of Gibb’s free energy. These changes take place as a result of geoecochemical reactions and determine a level of geosystem preservation. Using the first technique it is possible to save energy, a few hundreds of kilojoules per mol, due to formation silicates, phosphates, etc. Other techniques of geosystem restoration are heavy metal ion detoxication and alternative technologies, e.g. lithosynthesis, for natural resource preservation. Geoecochemical techniques of lithosphere preservation can be useful for any geoconstruction technology like soil strengthening, highway and railway construction and other earthwork operations.

This article is dedicated to the problems of reliability, long-term thermal capacity and operational efficiency rate of PTVM and KGVM hot-water boilers. Based on the analysis of statistic data, tests, and certain works on increase of efficiency and reliability of PTVM-100 tower hot-water boilers, which were performed in Kazakhstan, it may be said that the reconstruction of PTVM-100 boilers accomplished on CHP was mainly aimed at the increase of reliability while saving the operational efficiency of boilers almost without changes. If the boiler is operating on fuel oil and without periodical washes, then it is possible to achieve consistent operation only under 75% of the nominal operational load. Structural changes of the PTVM-100 boiler unit offered by authors, along with the increase of operational reliability on fuel oil and it’s thermal capacity, allow increasing boiler’s efficiency rate up to 91-92% if it is operated under nominal load and using fuel oil. Structure the new KV-GM 55 hot-water boiler with horizontal design includes the two-row bi-radiated screen wrapping around the furnace and the new arrangement of convective packs, which are now located next to each other, allowed to increase heating characteristics of the boiler significantly due to the intensification of heat exchange and decrease of temperature of gases released from behind of the boiler unit, as well as to increase boiler’s efficiency rate up to 92,5% under nominal load.

On the basis of the developed for surface plastic deformation process hardened elastic-plastic body model, the cumulative shear strain level, plasticity reserve exhaustion level and residual stress tensor components calculations are performed. It is established that the greatest residual compressive stresses are characteristic for the axial component, and the extremum can be located both on the workpiece surface and at some distance from it. The metal hardening influence on the residual stresses distribution is revealed. On the axial (largest) component example shown that the difference between the maximum values is almost 30%. The obtained result corresponds to the idea that the hardened metal having an increased yield strength allows a larger residual stresses presence.

The article is devoted to the analysis of elastic and plastic characteristics of composite materials during hot stamping. The purpose of this work is to offer optimal conditions for hot plasticity of composite porous material with determination of temperature conditions of hot stamping excluding the appearance of defects in the structure. Production of details of the difficult form by method of hot stamping from preparations of the cylindrical form is followed by development of barrel on a peripheral surface. Sludge sintered porous blanks, and sediment compact material, accompanied by a nonuniform height lateral deformation. In connection with the action of friction forces on the contact surfaces, this leads to the formation of a “barrel”. The heterogeneity of the deformed state is associated with the appearance of tangential tensile stresses on the free surface of the workpiece. If they exceed some critical degree of transverse deformation, cracks appear on the side surface, which leads to gas saturation (oxidation) of the inner layers of the forging, to the ingress of grease into them and its pressing into the volume of the part during hot stamping. In the end, this significantly reduces the properties of hot-stamped parts. Conclusion: the methods of determining the elastic characteristics depending on the geometric parameters of the workpieces, the applied strain energy, body density and temperature dependence of the plasticity characteristics of the hot deformation of the powder material are сonsidered.

Costs and terms of hydroelectric complexes construction, of low pressure constructions in particular, can be significantly reduced by ensuring the safe passage of flood discharge through the crest of water-retaining structures. When water-retaining structures are made from soils, this condition can only be fulfilled by creating special fastenings of a crest and dam slopes from erosion. There is a large number of technical solutions for overflowing phreatic dams construction with the use of stone, concrete, reinforced concrete and metal. However, most of them have specific disadvantages. They are high materials consumption, labour input and expenses. These disadvantages, in our opinion, can be minimized by applying modern composite materials such as geosynthetic shells, concrete-filled textile floor-floor-mats and coarse-pored concrete. The paper describes structures of overflowing phreatic dams invented by the authors with the use of modern composite materials, as well as the results of model hydraulic studies of overflowing phreatic dams with a downstream slopes formed by geosynthetic shells.

Engineering (General). Civil engineering (General) ,TA1-2040 - Abstract
In Russia and abroad, the scope of the use of gold has significantly expanded, which undoubtedly affected the level of production. However, despite the fairly high rates of gold mining, the economic situation that has developed in recent years makes the companies look for new innovative placer processing technologies that will allow preserving and increasing the extraction of the precious metals. The search for and exploration of new placer gold deposits requires very considerable financial resources and time, and therefore the proposed project for the extraction of alluvial gold from technogenic deposits is of great importance for the functioning of the mining industry of the Irkutsk region, since it helps to overcome at least two negative trends: firstly, the deterioration of the mineral resource base, and secondly, large losses of gold with dump products (up to 50%) associated with the use of obsolete washing equipment. Modernization of production capacities and processing technologies is not only one of the main factors for increasing competitiveness in the gold mining industry and attracting investors, but will also help increasing the mineral resource base of the Irkutsk region by reassessing technogenic deposits, setting gold technogenic deposits on the balance, development of technologies for technogenic deposits and processing, and involvement of technogenic deposits in the mass processing.

The detonation performance of melt-cast plastic-bonded explosives (PBXs) based on high melting explosive octogen (HMX) was studied in the paper. It has been found that the detonation velocity strongly depends from the dispersion distribution of HMX particles: it changes from 7800 to 8700 m/s. We explain this by the possibility of detonation propagation in PBX through different mechanisms, including detonation front propagation along a percolating cluster formed by filler particles. Thus, varying the particle size distribution can bring about one detonation mechanism or another and hence control the energy release dynamics of melt-cast PBXs to attain high efficiency in practice. Experimental results confirm the assumptions.

The paper presents the results of experimental studies of the temperature dependence of the strength characteristics of porous ceramic composites. It is known that the most significant factors affecting the mechanical characteristics of brittle ceramic composites are the pore structure parameters. Increase of porosity leads to decrease of strength characteristics of ceramic composites, however researches about mutual influence of porosity and temperature of tests on strength characteristics were not carried out. The results of studies to determine the strength characteristics of composites under compression showed that the increase in test temperature led to a decrease in compressive strength for specified types of composite porosity by an average of 10%. Experiments carried out at negative temperatures have shown that samples with a porosity of 21% have the greatest strength sensitivity to temperature test conditions.

Engineering (General). Civil engineering (General) ,TA1-2040 - Abstract
The paper presents a set of decisions for improving the processes of designing the template tooling in the aviation industry. Specificity of the offered approach to designing this kind of equipment is to obtaining positive effects of reflecting the life cycle of any template on semantic memory, such as a question-answer. The reflection of the life cycle on the semantic memory makes it possible to develop ontological means of support, to organize structural designing the configured templates of aviation details and also use of means of conceptual experimenting. Such type of experimenting suggests the structure and attributes of the semantic memory cells are focused on the coding of models of questions and answers from the viewpoint of their use in solving the creative tasks. In such modeling, any conceptual experiment is conducted as an automated mental experiment the structure and content of which are operatively used in designing of templates. The ontological support helps to reduce the design complexity, improve the initial design quality, get a shorter pre-production term, as well as to accumulate and transfer the experience of the previously implemented design solutions.

Engineering (General). Civil engineering (General) ,TA1-2040 - Abstract
The method to increase the durability of high-strength cast iron with spherical graphite YAG:Nd-laser radiation is proposed. The results of studies in laser processing of cylindrical samples of high-strength cast iron grade of the VCH 70-3 are presented by the YAG:Nd-laser, working in pulse-periodic mode. Effect of the treatment with 1 kW YAG:Nd-laser on microhardness of high-strength cast iron has been investigated. More effective laser strengthening is found to be occurred by YAG:Nd-laser processing as compared with continuous CO2-laser one. The results showed that when processing of cast iron in general, the zone of laser influence consists of the reflow zone and the zone of quenching from the solid state. The optimal values of parameters of the hardened layer in the radiation by the solid-state YAG:Nd laser are considered. It is shown that under fluence of laser radiation fluence more than 28 j/mm2 is occured the surface melting of cast iron.
