Aims: To determine the frequency and factors of complications of intestinal stomas., Methods: This was a retrospective study over a 7 year period from January 2004 to December 2010, covering all children aged 0-15 years, who received a stoma and hospitalized in the period of study. Excluded from this study, alimentary ostomy and urological ostomy, and children whose medical records were incomplete., Results: We examined 192 cases of stoma or 27 cases/year. We noted a complication in 91 (48%) of our patients. The average age was 3.64 ± 5.03 years ranging from 6 hours and 15 years. Objective: The objective of this study was to determine the frequency of peritonitis by typhoid ileal perforation in the teaching hospitals of Bamako and Kati., Patients and Methods: We conducted a retrospective study over a 24 years period (1984-2007). Every patient admitted and operated in urgency for peritonitis by ileal perforation were listed and included in this study., Results: During the study period, 1868 acute peritonitis were operated on in the three major health centres of Bamako and Kati. We collected data concerning 543 typhoid ileal perforations which represented 29.0% of all peritonitis. The peritonitis by typhoid perforation constituted 28.5% of the peritonitis in the teaching hospital of the Point G, 30.6% in the Gabriel Touré teaching hospital and 6.4% in the teaching hospital of Kati. Among the peritonitis by typhoid perforation, 56.7% were listed in the Point G teaching hospital, 43.0% in the Gabriel Torre teaching hospital and 0.3% in the Kati teaching hospital. Between 1984-2004 we collected data from two hundred and fifty seven (257) patients suffering from peritonitis by typhoid ileal perforation, a total of 24.4% of the peritonitis recorded. Between 2005-2007, the data for two hundred eighty six (286) patients suffering from peritonitis by typhoid ileal perforation was collected, a total of 35% of the peritonitis recorded. Aim: The aim of this study was to help National Center for Blood Transfusion of Bamako in implementation of a quality assurance system., Materials and Methods: Study was conducted in 2007 and 2008 at the National Center for Blood Transfusion of Mali in Bamako. We first evaluated the state of the quality system and studied the Knowledge, Attitude and Practices of the staff about quality assurance then carried out an plan of actions. We also made a check out of 2 critical processes in Blood transfusion: the whole blood collection process in fixed cabin and the temperature-monitored storage facilities for blood and reagents., Result: From the analysis of the state of assurance quality system, we found numerous failures. A policy of quality and guidelines for blood transfusion were absent. Most of the mains procedures and the flow chart of the center were also lacking. Sixty six of the personnel were aware about the notion of quality assurance and 36.7% were trained in this matter. The plan of actions was executed at 57.4%. Several failures were recorded in the processes of blood collection and in the temperature-monitored storage system. Corrective actions should be taken by training the staff in application of procedures., Conclusion: Despite of the great progress made in implementation of quality assurance at the CNTS of Mali, some insufficiencies were remaining. Development of quality system across all the stages of the blood transfusion chain is vital for CNTS. This require an adoption of national blood policy.

Aims: Determine the aetiologic factors and evaluate the result of our chirurgical treatment., Patients and Methods: It was about a prospective study done from October 1st 2005 to March 31,2007 on all women seen for urinary discomfort in whom cystocele have been found., Results: The hospital frequency of cystocele has been 3.54%. The mean age of our patients has been 48 years. In the patient history dystocic delivery have been found in 7 cases (43.75%), foetal macrosomia in 7 cases, chronic constipation in 1 case (6.25%) and 4 patients were menopausal. For the parity 10 patients were big multi pares, 3 were multi pares (18.75%), 2 were pauci pares (12.5%) and 1 were nullius pare. Cystocele were classed 1st degree in 3 patients, 2nd degree in 9 patients (56.25%) and 3rd degree in 4 others (25%). Anterior plasty of the vaginal wall was done in 11 patients (68.75%) and anterior and posterior plasty of the vaginal wall in 5 patients (31.25%). After 6 months, 62.5% of patients have a good anatomic result and 68.75% a good functional result. Anatomic results were bad in 6.25%. Cystocele is frequent in young women in Mali. It is often related to obstetrical trauma. A rapid diagnosis and care will improve the prognosis.
