The authors discuss their study to examine the extent of adherence to American Academy of Ophthalmology recommendations by systemic lupus erythematosus providers at a single site. The goal is to encourage more prospective analyses and interventions to prevent hydroxychloroquine-induced retinopathy. Recruitment of patient was from the Southern California Lupus Registry. The study is limited by incomplete data on people not taking hydroxychloroquine.
