Reading is a basic learning tool for an individual that begins early and continues throughout life. It would appear that the world is digitally at one's fingertips, with everything connected to the internet with the increasing dominance of digital reading over paper reading. On the other hand, it is fair to assume that books will continue to be printed for a very long time despite the rise in e-book readers. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the actual trends in using printed books among university students. The study collected data from 233 undergraduate students from different Four (04) universities in Bangladesh through a survey questionnaire. The results show that despite the increasing use of digital devices and e-books, printed books remain the preferred medium for reading. Results suggest that young adults spend hours watching television and chatting on social media at the expense of reading and that reading culture has been in decline. The findings explored that a small percentage of respondents consistently use printed books, while a significant number resort to them for specific academic purposes. The study also highlights the varying levels of engagement, with some respondents dedicating several hours to reading printed books. Self-development and job preparation emerged as the primary reasons for using printed books, while entertainment played a lesser reason to read books on printed paper. Purpose The COVID-19 epidemic significantly impacted daily life and led to the adoption of significant steps to stop the virus's spread. Educational institutions and social gatherings were placed on prolonged lockdown, with people continuing to maintain physical distance. As a result, students of all classes are highly engaged in using the internet. In this article, the usage of the internet of the student's Information Science and Library Management, University of Rajshahi are studied. The aim of the present study was to examine the usage of the internet during the post-pandemic. Furthermore, this research aims to investigate the internet usage rate, career development, academic development through the internet, the efficiency of online classes etc. Methods A questionnaire data collection method was used. The respondents were randomly selected from the department of Information Science and Library Management, University of Rajshahi. For the research, some data were entered and analyzed using SPSS and Biblioshiny software. Findings The research shows that the respondent had an average age of 23. The results of this paper show that the data of students are relatively valuable, and it shows that students had not only wasted their valuable time using the internet aimlessly but students had developed their career besides academic improvement. Students had developed many extra-knowledges through the internet, such as, language learning, IT skills, reading e-books habit etc. COVID-19 influenced the daily life of students as internet usage impacted on both positive and negative sides. However, most of the respondents were in rural places during the pandemic. Limitations The first barrier was time and financial supports for conducting the study. Very simply, research is the systematic investigation to explore new knowledge for scientific achievement. Research comprises "creative and systematic work undertaken to increase the stock of knowledge, including knowledge of humans, culture and society, and the use of this stock of knowledge to devise new applications" (OECD, 2015). Research carried out by scientists and researchers has made an enormous impact on the world over the centuries specially for developing countries like Bangladesh. Research can make a significant contribution to the growth and development of any nation. Research and the library are closely interconnected with one another. Libraries especially academic and special libraries responsible for research support that is treated as central pillar in their mission. A "researcher life cycle" approach was applied to identify researcher information needs. Librarians continue to play a central role in conducting successful research and are expanding beyond their traditional duties for delivering high quality information services to engage themselves more as educators, technological guides, and communicators. Librarians should pace more and more into a leadership role develop major initiatives and conduct training to increase research reproducibility. The present paper focuses on the basic technical issues of efficient research skills and highlights the librarians' competencies for research support of Bangladesh for guiding researchers for conducting successful research and ensuring a better work environment to do research. This paper mainly explores the proper referencing and citations, submission of manuscript in impact journals, find out predatory journals and selection for publishing articles in open access journals. This study also highlights the use and impact of various online databases such as Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus in order to explore citation status, h index and research performance of an individual author, country and institution. The study also investigates the role of the library in addressing present and future challenges to bridge technical issues of conducting research in Bangladesh. An attempt has been made to identify the major problems for submission manuscripts in high impact journals and to indicate some possible solutions for developing research information management systems, and efforts to improve training and support for researchers to enhance the research productivity of researchers in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is trying to achieve Smart Bangladesh Vision 2041 to put the country on a new, sustainable path of growth while also serving as a role model for other developing nations. With that goal in mind, the government is trying to introduce e-governance services in every government sector. Medical libraries are facing new challenges and opportunities due to dynamic changes in the digital era for offering excellent services to health scientists and professionals. The usage of information and communication technology (ICT) has become increasingly important in various fields, including the healthcare industry. Medical libraries, in particular, have also witnessed a significant transformation in terms of their functions and services due to the adoption of the digital revolution. This article aims to investigate the usage of ICT in the selected medical libraries in Bangladesh, with a special reference to the icddr,b Library. In this connection, a comparative study is made based on six major medical libraries of Bangladesh. These libraries are compared in terms of ICT use for providing library services through library websites. Collected data are analyzed in quantitative as well as qualitative methods to explore better results. Results are shown in the form of tables and figures. This study examines the effects of knowledge sharing on information service innovation (ISI), among the information professionals of Bangladesh. It also determines the manner of reconceived knowledge sharing to produce greater desirable ISI outcomes. It collected data from 414 information professionals of Bangladesh who were working in academic libraries or Information Centers (IC). The study fills the literature gap in knowledge sharing of information professionals of ISI in the library arena. Hence, it makes invaluable contributions to the scanty literature on knowledge sharing, ISI in Bangladesh, as its analysis the contributions of library professionals or stakeholders of IC. Since the library is the paramount destination for obtaining knowledge and information, it has been a matter of great regret that the culture of pursuing lifelong learning programs through libraries remains unstressed and unfamiliar in Bangladesh. People from all walks of life have not felt the necessity of going to libraries to seek information and obtain knowledge to solve their day-to-day affairs and resolve other problematic issues. The tradition of reading, learning, and researching is still in a deplorable state, and to this end, the development and expansion of "Library Culture" is too slow to fulfill the information needs of the common masses. The core objective of this study is to explore the processes to promote library culture in Bangladesh. The researchers have followed a qualitative approach to conduct the research, and defined the concept of Library Culture and formulated different means for its extension throughout the country. The researchers also focus on the roles of Library Culture in human resource development in Bangladesh. This study investigates the attitudes, perceptions and practices of pleasure reading among the undergraduate and graduate students of Dhaka University. Undergraduate and Graduate students under three major faculties i.e. Arts and Social Sciences; Business Studies; and Science, Engineering & Technology have been selected to participate in this survey. A total of 300 questionnaires have been distributed among the interested participants and the libraries of the concerned faculties were selected for selecting respondents randomly. Systematic random sampling method has been deployed for the convenient of the study. Data analysis has been done using SPSS Version 25 and MS Excel. The study investigates the following topics: attitudes and understanding of pleasure reading among the students; the correlation between pleasure reading and academic achievement; whether the library could play a significant role in promoting pleasure reading. This study suggests that the students of Dhaka University have the habit of pleasure reading. The undergraduate and graduate students of Dhaka University confess that pleasure reading helps them to get mental peace and sanity at the same time being positive. They also acknowledge that pleasure reading helps them in achieving academic success, acquiring new knowledge and developing vocabulary base. One of the key findings of the study is that students are very much career-centric and they spend most of their time reading job-seeking guidebooks. The study is the first endeavor to investigate the pleasure reading trends and attitudes among the students of Dhaka University that may prompt future research on Bangladeshi students regarding pleasure reading. Purpose - This study aims to explore the online services provided by the university libraries of Bangladesh during the COVID-19 pandemic and how they cope up with the new demands of the students and faculties to support online teaching and learning activities. Design/methodology/approach - The descriptive research design of the online survey was used to collect data from 50 public and private university libraries. The population of this study was 160 UGC-approved universities in Bangladesh. A structured online questionnaire was developed using Google Forms and delivered to 72 university libraries via Email. 50 university libraries responded to the survey, and later the data were analyzed using SPSS v-25.0. Findings - The findings of this study reveal that to support online teaching and learning, and research activities, most of the university libraries of Bangladesh started to provide online library services for their patrons. This study suggests libraries need to improve their technical infrastructure and provide equal opportunity to each professional for acquiring new technical skills of various emerging library tools and techniques to disseminate knowledge using a digital platform. Libraries also need to promote their services through email and social media to make library users aware of the new services and also need to secure more funding from the university authorities to acquire more electronic resources. Limitations - With the COVID-19 movement and safety restrictions, we had to rely only on online data collection methods. We could not manage a large part of the university libraries because the contact information was available on the university web directory. Originality - This study will provide a comprehensive idea about the ability of the university libraries of Bangladesh to provide online library services in emergency/pandemic situations. A few studies have been published that focused on university library services during the COVID-19 pandemic situation. This study is the first effort to provide a combined picture of all the online services offered to the patrons by public and private university libraries in Bangladesh. The widespread adoption of electronic resources, particularly in the realm of reading books, has transformed the landscape of academic libraries across the globe. This study explores the impact of e-resources on the reading habits and preferences of Central Library users at the University of Rajshahi. By analyzing the attitudes and experiences of students, faculty, and researchers, this research sheds light on the significance of e-resources in modern-day learning environments. The core purposes of the study are to investigate the trend and impact of using electronic resources, to explore the reasons, to know the benefits of using e-resources by the students. Out of 200 students only 85% students are familiar with e-resources. Only 90% of students use e-resources. They use e-resources for learning, reading, teaching, jobs, recreation, news etc. They use different types of e-resources such as e-books, e-journals, e-magazine, e-maps, e-news etc. They prefer mobile phones most to access e-resources. But due to a lack of adequate collection, high speed internet connection, proper knowledge, and infrastructure, they face many difficulties in using e-resources in the central library. The objective of this study is to explore the contents, features, and maintenance issues of Bangladeshi public university library websites. To ensure representativeness, we selected twelve (12) public university libraries that have dedicated websites. For authenticity and reliability of data, a checklist of sixty-one (61) items divided into ten (10) categories was used, along with interview procedures. The findings of this research have been presented in both tabular and figurative forms. According to the research, the website trend, which began a few years ago, will become a driving force for library services, although there is still potential for development such as liquid layout, mobile-friendliness, Web-OPAC, online tutorials, etc. and may indicate some maintenance issues for the library's website. This research is useful for information scientists and academic librarians involved in the establishment and management of library websites, particularly in underdeveloped nations like Bangladesh, where resources are restricted and studies are sparse. The article discusses a study conducted to investigate the status of using Social Media for information marketing during COVID-19 at Dhaka University Library, Bangladesh. it is noted that the study intends to identify the user's tendency of using Social Media; identify obstacles about the usage of Social Media during COVID-19 and finally determine the parameters to develop information marketing plan by using Social Media tools.
