Abstract

Superhydrophobic and superoleophilicsponges were fabricated byimmersion in an ethanol solution of octadecyltrichlorosilane. Theresulting coating strongly adheres to the sponges after curing at45 °C for 24 h. Absorption capacities of 42–68 times thepolymerized octadecylsiloxane sponge weight were obtained for toluene,light petroleum, and methylsilicone oil.
