On day 11 - after nasopharyngeal swabs taken on 2 consecutive days were negative - MRI T2-weighted short-tau inversion recovery sequences showed changes supporting the diagnosis of acute myocarditis (figure; appendix). Paediatric patients reporting chest pain and other features suggestive of acute myocarditis - with or without respiratory symptoms - should, we believe, also be tested for SARS-CoV-2 (video).
