Discussing the issue of creating a universal museum, the author offers a classification in which book museums are divided into complex (universal, art and technical, historical and technical, historical and art) and specialized (technical, art and historical). According to this classification, the Museum of Belarusian Book Printing is regarded as a universal museum, the National Library of Belarus (NLB) Book Museum -- as a historical and art book museum, and Martinas Jankus Museum -- as a historical and technical book museum. At the NLB Bibliology Department, a collection of Belarusian editions dated to the end of the 19th -- beginning of the 20th century has been formed. It is partly exhibited at the Book Museum. We should mention books by Adam Mickiewicz, Jan Chechet, Jan Borschevsky and Vincent Dunin-Marcinkevich, lifetime editions of Belarusian writers -- the founders of modern Belarusian literature and literary language Yanka Kupala and Jakub Kolas, the first newspaper in the Belarusian language (illegal) "Muzhytskaya prauda", the first legal Belarusian newspapers "Nasha dolia" and "Nasha niva", the first textbooks in the Belarusian language, issued at the Publishing House "Zahllane sontsa i u nasha acontsa" in St. Petersburg, a collection of poems "Vianok" with Maxim Bogdanovich's autograph, and some other rare editions exhibited at the Book Museum.
