Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) was a group of pilots during World War II comprised of female civil service employees working for the Army Air Forces. The pilots were subject to the Articles of War, but had no ranking in the military. WASP pilots compiled an impressive record despite harassment and sabotage from other personnel, discrimination, and difficult assignments in airplanes other pilots considered dangerous.
