Launched in 1964, the Journal of the Korean Society of Radiology (JKSR) has served as the official journal of the Korean Society of Radiology (KSR). However, with establishment of the Korean Journal of Radiology (KJR), an entirely English journal, in 2000 and listing of the KJR in the SCI(E), KJR has become the representative academic journal of the KSR. Therefore, the identity of JKSR needs to be restructured, and a questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate the status and the future direction of the JKSR. The survey was conducted in September 2018 with 10 questions through on-line and mobile, and 553 members gave responses. According to the survey results, about 75% of the respondents read more than one JKSR article a year, mostly through on-line. All types of papers, including original article, case report, and review article were being read. The most common reason for contributing articles to the JKSR was submission for the radiology board examination, and the most common reason for not contributing articles to the JKSR was non-recognition of the publication in JKSR as achievement in universities because JKSR is not indexed in SCI(E). Many respondents were hoping for dealing with continuous medical education and health policies in radiology as the future role of JKSR. Based on these surveys, we plan to reorganize JKSR in 2019, which we would like to introduce in this paper.

Ultrasound devices diagnose many disease, which is widely used, can not be standardized quantitative evaluated in order to evaluate sonography image of quality. Therefore, in this papers, aims to get correct image in order to accurate diagnosis by figuring out the appropriate parameter based on each target by measuring distortion which results in the analyzation of the sensitivity of SNR and the histogram of signal by manipulating parameter of 8 mm target in ATS-539 multipurpose phantom. Equipment using Acuson sequoia 512, convex probe and utilizes multi-objective phantom. experiment method is that first you put the phantom on the flat and acquire 85 sheets of image, changing frequency(2,3,4 MHz, harmonic 3, 4, 4.5 MHz), Focus(2, 4, 6 unit), and Dynamic Range(58, 68, 78, 88, 98) for a 8 mm structure. through the Image J program. The sensitivity angle of 8mm target through Image J program is gauged by each separate target SNR and the distorted angle subtract and measure Histogram of background from Histogram of signal and take top 40% from the given result value above. According to parameter variation we found out proper parameter by acquiring SNR of sensitivity and distortion data for aspect of transition. The more this findings have Focus, the lower distortion value and at 4 MHz frequency this result have high SNR and low distortion value. Dynamic Range got an appropriate image on 88 and 98. It is considered on the basis of the experimental data, the probability of disease diagnosis will get higher.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of death from cancer worldwide. The most effective way to reduce lung cancer mortality is early detection and treatment. Two large randomized controlled trials (RCTs), the National Lung Screening Trial and the Dutch-Belgian Randomized Lung Cancer Screening Trial, showed that low-dose CT (LDCT) can reduce the chances of lung cancer death. This paper reviews the two aforementioned RCTs and the current situations of implementing LDCT screening in several counties. Although nationwide programs of lung cancer screening are rare, they would increase in the near future. Using the two aforementioned RCTs and accumulating data from many counties, including the East Asian countries, a more effective way of LDCT screening in Korea can be devised and implemented.

Automated breast ultrasonography (ABUS) is a recently introduced technology. Similar to handheld ultrasound (HHUS), it is a supplementary screening test for breast cancer to be used along with mammography. It is particularly useful for detecting invasive breast cancers that may be overlooked by mammography in denser breast tissue. The use of ABUS is becoming more common because of the advantages of low operator dependency during image acquisition, high reproducibility, a wide field-of-view, and unavailability of better coronal imaging with HHUS. Consequently, there have been suggestions to extend ABUS use to diagnostic screening. Therefore, in this paper, we provide a review of the literature and discuss the usefulness and value of ABUS in breast cancer screening.

4D-Radiation Therapy is the optimal treatment to track moving organs(tumor) and give the appropriate prescription dose to tumor and low radiation dose to normal tissue surrounding tumor volume. The ABCHES is a 4DRT devices maintaining shallow breathing to patients. It allows the tumor`s movement was minimize. Meanwhile, Abdominal compression device is limited the breath compressing abdomen on patients. In this paper we will quantitative analysis the movement of tumor on only ABCHES versus ABCHES with Abdomal compression device and Analysis tumor dose and normal tissue`s dose by Dose Volume Histogram on two parts. The result of Comparision ABCHES and ABCHES with Abdominal compression device, SI(Superior-Inferior) direction, AP(Anterior-Posterior) direction and LR(Left-Right) direction was limited 1.0 mm, 0.2 mm, 0.2 mm(average). and also reduction rate of voluume in HPTV was , and LPTV was under only using ABCHES and ABCHES with compression. The analysis dose volume histogram was more radiation dose in ABCHES and abdominal compression device than only using ABCHES, and less normal tissue-ipsilateral lung, whole lung, kidney-dose in ABCHES and abdominal compression device than only using ABCHES. The overall analysis was ABCHES with abdominal compression better than only using ABCHES method. In hereafter it will be studies that limitation of ABCHES and abdomonal compression device. In other words, patient`s discomfort on compression intensity, method of application on patient with inaccurate respiration cycle.

This paper was supported by Wonkwang University in 2012. We present ultrasonography and computed tomography (CT) findings of a case of recurrent ovarian steroid cell tumor presenting with peritoneal seeding in a 45-year-old woman. On abdominal ultrasonography, there were multiple hypoechoic round masses in the peritoneal cavity including the perihepatic area. Contrast-enhanced ultrasonography showed intense homogenous enhancement on the arterial phase and delayed prolonged enhancement of the masses. CT revealed multiple peritoneal solid masses with strong enhancement. Five years ago, the patient had been diagnosed with a steroid cell tumor of the left ovary. At that time, the CT showed a well-enhancing, lobulating, large solid mass at the left adnexa. Imaging findings of the peritoneal masses suggested peritoneal seeding from the preexisting ovarian steroid cell tumor. For treatment of the metastatic lesions in the perihepatic area, ultrasonography-guided radiofrequency ablation (RFA) was performed, and debulking surgery for the peritoneal masses was done. Six months later, complete ablation of the perihepatic metastases by RFA and a marked decrease in the peritoneal metastases by surgery were found on the follow-up CT. A patent foramen ovale (PFO) is a congenital cardiac lesion that can cause migraines with aura and stroke (1). Echocardiography is a first line diagnostic imaging modality for PFO (2). However, CT techniques have been improving, and some interesting papers demonstrating that PFO can be diagnosed by ECG-gated cardiac CT angiography have been published (3, 4). They reported that it is less sensitive to detect PFO by CT than by echocardiography. Recently, using cardiac multidetector row CT (MDCT), we detected PFO in a male adolescent patient. The PFO had been the hidden cause of a longstanding migraine.

A bronchopleural fistula (BPF) following a pulmonary resection is relatively rare; however, it has high morbidity and mortality rates, despite advancements in treatment. Treatment options for a BPF include surgical procedures, conservative therapy, medical therapy, and in particular, the use of a bronchoscopy and different glues, coils, and sealants. This paper discusses a case of the treatment of a postoperative BPF, which is not identified on the bronchoscope, using a platinum vascular occlusion coil (microcoil) and N-butly-2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA) under fluoroscopic guidance. We hereby assert that such an approach as a combination might be an improvement to the minimally-invasive treatment methods currently in use.
