The use of fluorimetric and diffuse reflectance measurements on the isomorphous series alpha-CuAlBrxCl4-x ( x = 0-4) to investigate the electronic structure of CuAlCl4 is described. Alpha- and beta-CuAlCl4 phases demonstrate luminescence of brilliant blue to blue-green.

The synthesis, structure and photoluminescence of a new intrinsic yellow phosphor, NTHU-6, which has a unique MOF-like organic-inorganic hybrid open framework with high photoluminescence quantum efficiency (PLQE), are described. NTHU-6 has higher PLQE than NTHU-4 and it has displayed a hillock-like absorption band extended into the visible region.

A study was conducted to characterize a technique for determining defined and purified luminescent materials of intermediate molecular size supporting amorphous morphology. Molecules characterized by a tetrahedral array of four stilbenoid units coupled to a central sp3-hybridized carbon atom have been utilized in the study. Results indicated that the morphology of organic materials can effectively controlled and applied in the design of optoelectronic devices.
