Abstract

The experimental study evidence for an electric-field-induced charge-transfer phase transition and changes in the magnetic, optical, and electronic properties observed in two cyanometalate complexes: [Rb.sub.0.8]Mn[[Fe[(CN).sub.6]].sub.0.93]*1.62[H.sub.2]O and [Co.sub.3][[W[(CN).sub.8]].sub.2][(pyrimidine).sub.4]*6[H.sub.2]O, are reported. The study observations revealed that the new concept of electrical switching based on materials exhibiting charge-transfer phase transitions with large thermal hysteresis loops might open new pathways for novel electro-optical devices.
