3. Contactless Mechanical Power Transmission Through the High-Tc Superconducting Pinning Effect

Abstract

Mechanical power transmission (MPT) components are almost indispensable for every engineering equipment with motions. In order to satisfy some rigorous requirements, such as contamination free and zero leakage in the mixing process of biomedical solutions, a contactless MPT mode was proposed in this study based on the high-Tc superconducting flux pinning mechanism. It makes the stirring container with the driven part inside that can be totally isolated from the external environment. The physical principle of superconducting flux pinning effect was discussed firstly to explore a feasible structural scheme, which can completely restrain all the six degrees of freedom (DOFs) by the linkage of magnetic flux lines. Then, a measurement device was established to verify and investigate the proposed contactless MPT mode. The motion can be transferred synchronously from the superconducting driving part to the permanent magnet driven part since they are unified as an integrity through the pinned flux lines. The influence of driving speed, cooling clearance, and magnet arrangement on the transmitted torque was analyzed. The verified contactless MPT mode also has the advantages of self-stability and overload protection, which can avoid the drawbacks of traditional permanent magnetic transmission mode.

Abstract

The effects of graphene doping on the phase formation and superconductivity of MgB2 bulks synthesized with different process have been studied systemically. Considering the scattering structure of graphene, coating method was applied to enhance the uniformity of graphene doping. The graphene coated B addition was expected to improve the critical current density of MgB2 bulks. In our study, several experiments were performed to find out the suitable way for graphene doping. The coating method could enhance the critical current density of MgB2 from 1.9 × 105 to 2.5 × 105 A/cm2 at 20 K and 0 T, compared with that of the undoped sample. And the superconductivity of MgB2 prepared by coating method got obvious improvement at high field compared with that of pure graphene doping bulk. It can be concluded that the coating method could ensure the uniformity of graphene doping in MgB2 and refined the grain crystalline effectively.

Abstract

We carry out a theoretical study of the bilayer single-band Hubbard model in the undoped and in the superconducting phases by means of the variational cluster approach. In particular, we focus on the splitting between the “bonding” and “antibonding” bands induced by the interlayer hopping, as well as its interplay with strong correlation effects. We find that the splitting is considerably suppressed in both the normal and superconducting phases, in qualitative agreement with experiments on Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ. In addition, in the superconducting phase, the shape of the splitting in k space is modified by correlations.
