The article elaborates the Italian vowel clusters and clusters at the phrasal level in singing. The clusters of more than two vowels and clusters at the phrasal level are viewed as combinations or extensions of categories including falling diphthong, rising diphthong, hiatus, unstressed diphthong, and orthographic clusters that result in a single pure vowel. It discusses the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to illustrate the spirit and method involved when deciding upon specifics of text underlay with lexical and phrasal vowel clusters.
