Abstract

The ICl reduction process, used to form I(sub 3)(super -), I(sub 2)Cl(super -), and ICl(sub 2)(super -) anions and prepare different molecular conductors based on trihalide anions and bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene (BEDT-TTF) is described. It is seen that molecular conductors reveal semiconducting and metallic transport properties and that in the reaction media with polarity less than 18.4 D only the I(sub 3)(super -) anion is incorporated in the BEDT-TTF-based molecular crystals.
