The placement of bone grafts in angular bony defects in conjunction with flap surgery potentiates the regeneration of bone and the formation of a new connective tissue attachment. The paper examines new attachment formation on citric acid and non-citric acid treated roots. It examines if new attachment will form on previously periodontitis involved roots when a reduced but non-compromised periodontal ligament tissue persists following periodontal treatment and if citric acid treatment of the root surfaces may promote healing.

The article examines if ligature-induced periodontitis is influenced by indomethacin treatment. Three one-year old, male beagle dogs were used. During 8 weeks prior to starting the study, all teeth were cleaned daily and, once every second week, scaled and polished. The biopsies were processed for light and electron microscopy. Stained semithin sections served for measuring subgingival plaque extension, pocket depth, size of infiltrated connective tissue (ICT), and the distance between the alveolar bone crest and the apical border of ICT. Corresponding data were compared from control and test sites which presented an identical subgingival ligature position.
