The article focuses on the management and prevention of procedure-related pain in children and adolescents. Preventing pain is not only humane, but it can also reduce the risk of subsequent morbidity. Health care providers have a clinical, moral and ethical obligation to minimize pain and suffering in children. Some approaches to minimize pain include a child-centered approach, active participation of child and their family, and use of suitable non-pharmacological and pharmacological intervention.
