Abstract

Research has been conducted on the 1,2-dihydrodiazete ring system. The hypothesis that these compounds might be aromatic has been tested experimentally and computationally and their X-ray crystal structure and alkene-like reactivity are discussed.

Research has been conducted on the acetone and ketodiester alpha-cleavage and decarbonylation reactions. The thermochemical analysis of these reactions has been carried out via the use of the density functional method and the radical-stabilizing abilities of the ketone substituents have been investigated.

Abstract

Research has been conducted on the photochemical decarbonylation of crystalline 1,3-acetonedicarboxylates. The analysis of this decarbonylation has been carried out both in soution and in a solid state and the results indicate that the solid-state reaction depends on intermediate acyl-alkyl and alkyl-alkyl radical pairs stability.
