Abstract

A recent article in the Journal of Integrative Plant Biology discusses a simple method for transforming and editing genes in medicinal plants. The method, called Cut-Dip-Budding (CDB), bypasses the need for tissue culture and hairy root formation, making it more efficient and successful than traditional gene delivery methods. The researchers successfully used the CDB method to transform and edit genes in several medicinal plant species, including Pugongying, Dihuang, Danshen, and Yuanzhi.
