Pole-skipping refers to the special phenomenon that the pole and the zero of a retarded two-point Green’s function coincide at certain points in momentum space. We study the pole-skipping phenomenon in holographic Green’s functions of boundary operators that are dual to massive p-form fields and the dRGT massive gravitational fields in the AdS black hole background. Pole-skipping points for these systems are computed using the near horizon method. The relation between the pole-skipping points of massive fields and their massless counterparts is revealed. In particular, as the field mass m is varied from zero to non-zero, the pole-skipping phenomenon undergoes an abrupt change with doubled pole-skipping points found in the massive case. This arises from the breaking of gauge invariance due to the mass term and the consequent appearance of more degrees of freedom. We recover the gauge invariance using the Stueckelberg formalism by introducing auxiliary dynamical fields. The extra pole-skipping points are identified to be associated with the Stueckelberg fields. We also observe that, as the mass varies, some pole-skipping points of the wave number q may move from a non-physical region with complex q to a physical region with real q. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We investigate the breakdown of magneto-hydrodynamics at low temperature (T) with black holes whose extremal geometry is AdS2×R2. The breakdown is identified by the equilibration scales (ωeq, keq) defined as the collision point between the diffusive hydrodynamic mode and the longest-lived non-hydrodynamic mode. We show (ωeq, keq) at low T is determined by the diffusion constant D and the scaling dimension ∆(0) of an infra-red operator: ωeq = 2πT∆(0), k eq 2 = ωeq/D, where ∆(0) = 1 in the presence of magnetic fields. For the purpose of comparison, we have analytically shown ∆(0) = 2 for the axion model independent of the translational symmetry breaking pattern (explicit or spontaneous), which is complementary to previous numerical results. Our results support the conjectured universal upper bound of the energy diffusion D ≤ ω eq / k eq 2 ≔ v eq 2 τ eq where veq := ωeq/keq and τeq := ω eq − 1 are the velocity and the timescale associated to equilibration, implying that the breakdown of hydrodynamics sets the upper bound of the diffusion constant D at low T. We present effective field theories for the weakly coupled Weyl-Z2 semimetal, as well as the holographic realization for the strongly coupled case. In both cases, the anomalous systems have both the chiral anomaly and the Z2 anomaly and possess topological quantum phase transitions from the Weyl-Z2 semimetal phases to partly or fully topological trivial phases. We find that the topological phase transition is characterized by the anomalous transport parameters, i.e. the anomalous Hall conductivity and the Z2 anomalous Hall conductivity. These two parameters are nonzero at the Weyl-Z2 semimetal phase and vanish at the topologically trivial phases. In the holographic case, the different behavior between the two anomalous transport coefficients is discussed. We consider z = 4 Hořava-Lifshitz gravity in both 3+1 and 4+1 dimensions. We find black hole solutions in the IR region for a kind of z = 4 Hořava-Lifshitz gravity which is inherited from the new massive gravity in three dimensions and an analog of the new massive gravity in four dimensions through the quantum inheritance principle. We analyze thermodynamic properties for the black hole solutions for z = 4 Hořava-Lifshitz gravity. We also write out the Friedmann equation in 3+1 dimensions for cosmological solutions.
