Abstract: The production of prompt D + and Ds+ mesons is studied in proton-lead collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of sNN = 5.02 TeV. The data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of (1.58 ± 0.02)nb −1 is collected by the LHCb experiment at the LHC. The differential production cross-sections are measured using D + and Ds+ candidates with transverse momentum in the range of 0 < p T < 14 GeV/c and rapidities in the ranges of 1.5 < y ∗ < 4.0 and –5.0 < y ∗ < –2.5 in the nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass system. For both particles, the nuclear modification factor and the forward-backward production ratio are determined. These results are compared with theoretical models that include initial-state nuclear effects. In addition, measurements of the cross-section ratios between D +, Ds+ and D 0 mesons are presented, providing a baseline for studying the charm hadronization in lead-lead collisions at LHC energies. Abstract: The first measurement of the Z boson production cross-section at centre-of-mass energy s = 5.02 TeV in the forward region is reported, using pp collision data collected by the LHCb experiment in year 2017, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 100 ± 2 pb−1. The production cross-section is measured for final-state muons in the pseudorapidity range 2.0 < η < 4.5 with transverse momentum pT> 20 GeV/c. The integrated cross-section is determined to be (Formula presented.) for the di-muon invariant mass in the range 60 < Mμμ< 120 GeV/c2. This result and the differential cross-section results are in good agreement with theoretical predictions at next-to-next-to-leading order in the strong coupling constant. Based on a previous LHCb measurement of the Z boson production cross-section in pPb collisions at sNN = 5.02 TeV, the nuclear modification factor RpPb is measured for the first time at this energy. Abstract: Using pp collisions corresponding to 3 fb −1 integrated luminosity, recorded by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, the ratio of branching fractionsℬ(Λb0→ψ(2S)Λ)/ℬ(Λb0→J/ψΛ)=0.513±0.023(stat)±0.016(syst)±0.011(ℬ)is determined. Abstract: The production rate and kinematics of photons produced in association with Z bosons are studied using 2fb-1 of pp̄ collision data collected at the Collider Detector at Fermilab. The cross section for pp̄→"+-γ+X (where the leptons " are either muons or electrons with dilepton mass M>40GeV/c2, and where the photon has transverse energy ETγ>7GeV and is well separated from the leptons) is 4.6±0.2(stat)±0.3(syst)±0.3(lum)pb, which is consistent with standard model expectations. We use the photon ET distribution from Zγ events where the Z has decayed to μ+μ -, e+e-, or νν̄ to set limits on anomalous (non standard model) trilinear couplings between photons and Z bosons. © 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: A search for the lepton-flavour violating decays Bs0 → e±μ∓ and B0 → e±μ∓ is performed based on a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1, collected with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The observed yields are consistent with the background-only hypothesis. Upper limits on the branching fraction of the Bs0 → e±μ∓ decays are evaluated both in the hypotheses of an amplitude completely dominated by the heavy eigenstate and by the light eigenstate. The results are @@ℬ(Bs0→e)

Abstract: The ratios of the branching fractions of the decays Λc+ → pπ−π+, Λc+ → pK−K+, and Λc+ → pπ−K+ with respect to the Cabibbo-favoured Λc+ → pK−π+ decay are measured using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb experiment at a 7 TeV centre-of-mass energy and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb−1:ℬ(Λc+→p+)ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+)=(7.44±0.08±0.18)%,ℬ(Λc+→pK−K+)ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+)=(1.70±0.03±0.03)%ℬ(Λc+→pπ−K+)ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+)=(0.165±0.015±0.005)%,where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These results are the most precise measurements of these quantities to date. When multiplied by the world-average value for ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+), the corresponding branching fractions areℬ(Λc+→p+)=(4.72±0.05±0.11±0.25)×10−3,ℬ(Λc+→pK−K+)=(1.08±0.02±0.02±0.06)×10−3,ℬ(Λc+→pπ−K+)=(1.04±0.09±0.03±0.05)×10−4,where the final uncertainty is due to ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+).[Figure not available: see fulltext.].

Abstract: A flavour-tagged decay-time-dependent amplitude analysis of Bs0 → (K+π−)(K−π+) decays is presented in the K±π∓ mass range from 750 to 1600MeV/c2. The analysis uses pp collision data collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1. Several quasi-two-body decay modes are considered, corresponding to K±π∓ combinations with spin 0, 1 and 2, which are dominated by the K0*(800)0 and K0*(1430)0, the K*(892)0 and the K2*(1430)0 resonances, respectively. The longitudinal polarisation fraction for the Bs0→K∗(892)°K¯∗(892)0 decay is measured as fL = 0.208 ± 0.032 ± 0.046, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The first measurement of the mixing-induced CP-violating phase, ϕsdd¯, in b→ dd¯ s transitions is performed, yielding a value of ϕsdd¯=−0.10±0.13(stat)±0.14 (syst) rad.

Abstract: The difference between the CP asymmetries in the decays Λc+ → pK−K+ and Λc+ → pπ−π+ is presented. Proton-proton collision data taken at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV collected by the LHCb detector in 2011 and 2012 are used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1. The Λc+ candidates are reconstructed as part of the Λb0 → Λc+μ−X decay chain. In order to maximize the cancellation of production and detection asymmetries in the difference, the final-state kinematic distributions of the two samples are aligned by applying phase-space-dependent weights to the Λc+ → pπ−π+ sample. This alters the definition of the integrated CP asymmetry to ACPwgt(pπ−π+). Both samples are corrected for reconstruction and selection efficiencies across the five-dimensional Λc+ decay phase space. The difference in CP asymmetries is found to be ΔACPwgt=ACP(pK−K+)−ACPwgt(pπ−π+)=(0.30±0.91±0.61)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.[Figure not available: see fulltext.].

Abstract: We report the measurements of the CP -violating parameters in Bs0 → Ds∓K± decays observed in pp collisions, using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1 recorded with the LHCb detector. We measure Cf = 0.73 ± 0.14 ± 0.05, AfΔΓ = 0.39 ± 0.28 ± 0.15, Af=0.31±0.28±0.15, Sf = −0.52 ± 0.20 ± 0.07, Sf¯= − 0.49 ± 0.20 ± 0.07 , where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These parameters are used together with the world-average value of the Bs0 mixing phase, −2βs, to obtain a measurement of the CKM angle γ from Bs0 → Ds∓K± decays, yielding γ = (128− 22+ 17)° modulo 180°, where the uncertainty contains both statistical and systematic contributions. This corresponds to 3.8 σ evidence for CP violation in the interference between decay and decay after mixing.

Abstract: A search for the lepton-flavour violating decays Bs0 → e±μ∓ and B0 → e±μ∓ is performed based on a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1, collected with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The observed yields are consistent with the background-only hypothesis. Upper limits on the branching fraction of the Bs0 → e±μ∓ decays are evaluated both in the hypotheses of an amplitude completely dominated by the heavy eigenstate and by the light eigenstate. Abstract: The ratios of the branching fractions of the decays Λc+ → pπ−π+, Λc+ → pK−K+, and Λc+ → pπ−K+ with respect to the Cabibbo-favoured Λc+ → pK−π+ decay are measured using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb experiment at a 7 TeV centre-of-mass energy and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb−1:ℬ(Λc+→p+)ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+)=(7.44±0.08±0.18)%,ℬ(Λc+→pK−K+)ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+)=(1.70±0.03±0.03)%ℬ(Λc+→pπ−K+)ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+)=(0.165±0.015±0.005)%,where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These results are the most precise measurements of these quantities to date. When multiplied by the world-average value for ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+), the corresponding branching fractions areℬ(Λc+→p+)=(4.72±0.05±0.11±0.25)×10−3,ℬ(Λc+→pK−K+)=(1.08±0.02±0.02±0.06)×10−3,ℬ(Λc+→pπ−K+)=(1.04±0.09±0.03±0.05)×10−4,where the final uncertainty is due to ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+).[Figure not available: see fulltext.].

Abstract: A search for charmless four-body decays of Λb0 and Ξb0 baryons with a proton and three charged mesons (either kaons or pions) in the final state is performed. The data sample used was recorded in 2011 and 2012 with the LHCb experiment and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1. Six decay modes are observed, among which Λb0 → pK−π+π−,Λb0 → pK−K+K−,Ξb0 → pK−π+π− and Ξb0 → pK−π+K− are established for the first time. Abstract: A search is performed in the invariant mass spectrum of the Bc+π+π− system for the excited Bc+ states Bc(21S0)+ and Bc(23S1)+ using a data sample of pp collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at the centre-of-mass energy of s=8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2 fb−1. Abstract: The charmless three-body decays B(s)0 → KS0h+h′ − (where h(′) = π, K) are analysed using a sample of pp collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1. The branching fractions are measured relative to that of the B0 → KS0π+π− decay, and are determined to be: (Formula Presented.) at 90% confidencelevel, where fs/fd represents the ratio of hadronisation fractions of the Bs0 and B0 mesons.

Abstract: A measurement is presented of decay-time-dependent CP violation in the decays B0 → J/ψ KS0 and B0 → ψ(2S)KS0, where the J/ψ is reconstructed from two electrons and the ψ(2S) from two muons. The analysis uses a sample of pp collision data recorded with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1. The CP -violation observables are measured to beC(B0→J/ψKS0)=0.12±0.07±0.02,S(B0→J/ψKS0)=0.83±0.08±0.01,C(B0→ψ(2S)KS0)=−0.05±0.10±0.01,S(B0→ψ(2S)KS0)=0.84±0.10±0.01,where C describes CP violation in the direct decay, and S describes CP violation in the interference between the amplitudes for the direct decay and for the decay after B0− B¯ 0 oscillation. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The two sets of results are compatible with the previous LHCb measurement using B0 → J/ψ KS0 decays, where the J/ψ meson was reconstructed from two muons. Abstract: Measurements of CP observables in B± → DK*± decays are presented, where D denotes a superposition of D0 and D¯ 0 meson states. Decays of the D meson to K−π+, K−K+, π−π+, K−π+π−π+ and π−π+π−π+ are used and the K*± meson is reconstructed in the KS0π± final state. This analysis uses a data sample of pp collisions collected with the LHCb experiment, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 1 fb−1, 2 fb−1 and 1.8 fb−1 at centre-of-mass energies s=7 TeV, 8 TeV and 13 TeV, respectively. The sensitivity of the results to the CKM angle γ is discussed.

Abstract: A measurement is presented of decay-time-dependent CP violation in the decays B0 → J/ψ KS0 and B0 → ψ(2S)KS0, where the J/ψ is reconstructed from two electrons and the ψ(2S) from two muons. The analysis uses a sample of pp collision data recorded with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1. The CP -violation observables are measured to beC(B0→J/ψKS0)=0.12±0.07±0.02,S(B0→J/ψKS0)=0.83±0.08±0.01,C(B0→ψ(2S)KS0)=−0.05±0.10±0.01,S(B0→ψ(2S)KS0)=0.84±0.10±0.01,where C describes CP violation in the direct decay, and S describes CP violation in the interference between the amplitudes for the direct decay and for the decay after B0− B¯ 0 oscillation. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The two sets of results are compatible with the previous LHCb measurement using B0 → J/ψ KS0 decays, where the J/ψ meson was reconstructed from two muons. Abstract: The charmless three-body decays B(s)0 → KS0h+h′ − (where h(′) = π, K) are analysed using a sample of pp collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1. The branching fractions are measured relative to that of the B0 → KS0π+π− decay, and are determined to be: (Formula Presented.) at 90% confidencelevel, where fs/fd represents the ratio of hadronisation fractions of the Bs0 and B0 mesons.

The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.58±0.02 nb−1 recorded at a nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy of sNN=5 TeV. Measurements of the differential cross-section, the forward-backward production ratio and the nuclear modification factor are reported using D0 candidates with transverse momenta less than 10 GeV/c and rapidities in the ranges 1.5 < y∗< 4.0 and −5.0 < y∗< −2.5 in the nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass system.

Abstract: The decays of Bs0and B¯s0 mesons into the J/ψK+K−final state are studied in the K+K−mass region above the ϕ(1020) meson in order to determine the resonant substructure and measure the CP-violating phase, ϕs, the decay width, Γs, and the width difference between light and heavy mass eigenstates, ΔΓs. A decay-time dependent amplitude analysis is employed. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1produced in 7 and 8 TeV pp collisions at the LHC, collected by the LHCb experiment. The measurement determines ϕs= 119 ± 107 ± 34 mrad. A combination with previous LHCb measurements using similar decays into the J/ψπ+π−and J/ψϕ(1020) final states gives ϕs= 1 ± 37 mrad, consistent with the Standard Model prediction.[Figure not available: see fulltext.]

Abstract: A test of lepton universality, performed by measuring the ratio of the branching fractions of the B0 → K*0μ+μ− and B0 → K*0e+e− decays, RK*0, is presented. The K*0 meson is reconstructed in the final state K+π−, which is required to have an invariant mass within 100 MeV/c2 of the known K*(892)0 mass. The analysis is performed using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 3 fb−1, collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. Abstract: A test of lepton universality, performed by measuring the ratio of the branching fractions of the B0 → K*0μ+μ− and B0 → K*0e+e− decays, RK*0, is presented. The K*0 meson is reconstructed in the final state K+π−, which is required to have an invariant mass within 100 MeV/c2 of the known K*(892)0 mass. The analysis is performed using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 3 fb−1, collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. Abstract: The decays of Bs0and B¯s0 mesons into the J/ψK+K−final state are studied in the K+K−mass region above the ϕ(1020) meson in order to determine the resonant substructure and measure the CP-violating phase, ϕs, the decay width, Γs, and the width difference between light and heavy mass eigenstates, ΔΓs. A decay-time dependent amplitude analysis is employed. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1produced in 7 and 8 TeV pp collisions at the LHC, collected by the LHCb experiment. The measurement determines ϕs= 119 ± 107 ± 34 mrad. A combination with previous LHCb measurements using similar decays into the J/ψπ+π−and J/ψϕ(1020) final states gives ϕs= 1 ± 37 mrad, consistent with the Standard Model prediction.[Figure not available: see fulltext.]

Abstract: We report on measurements of differential cross sections dsigma/dp(T) for prompt charm meson production in ppmacr; collisions at sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV using 5.8+/-0.3 pb(-1) of data from the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The data are collected with a new trigger that is sensitive to the long lifetime of hadrons containing heavy flavor. The charm meson cross sections are measured in the central rapidity region |y|K-pi(+), D(*+)-->D0pi(+), D+-->K-pi(+)pi(+), D(+)(s)-->phipi(+), and their charge conjugates. The measured cross sections are compared to theoretical calculations.

Abstract: A search for CP violation in the decay Λb0 → pK−μ+μ− is presented. This decay is mediated by flavour-changing neutral-current transitions in the Standard Model and is potentially sensitive to new sources of CP violation. The study is based on a data sample of proton-proton collisions recorded with the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1. The Λb0 → pK−μ+μ− decay is observed for the first time, and two observables that are sensitive to different manifestations of CP violation are measured, (Formula Presented.)where the latter is based on asymmetries in the angle between the μ+μ− and pK− decay planes. Abstract: The production cross-section of J/ψ pairs is measured using a data sample of pp collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of s=13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 279 ±11 pb−1. The measurement is performed for J/ψ mesons with a transverse momentum of less than 10 GeV/c in the rapidity range 2.0 < y < 4.5. The production cross-section is measured to be 15.2 ± 1.0 ± 0.9 nb. The first uncertainty is statistical, and the second is systematic. The differential cross-sections as functions of several kinematic variables of the J/ψ pair are measured and compared to theoretical predictions.[Figure not available: see fulltext.].

Abstract: The production cross-section of J/ψ pairs is measured using a data sample of pp collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of s=13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 279 ±11 pb−1. The measurement is performed for J/ψ mesons with a transverse momentum of less than 10 GeV/c in the rapidity range 2.0 < y < 4.5. The production cross-section is measured to be 15.2 ± 1.0 ± 0.9 nb. The first uncertainty is statistical, and the second is systematic. The differential cross-sections as functions of several kinematic variables of the J/ψ pair are measured and compared to theoretical predictions.[Figure not available: see fulltext.].

Abstract: A search for CP violation in the decay Λb0 → pK−μ+μ− is presented. This decay is mediated by flavour-changing neutral-current transitions in the Standard Model and is potentially sensitive to new sources of CP violation. The study is based on a data sample of proton-proton collisions recorded with the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1. The Λb0 → pK−μ+μ− decay is observed for the first time, and two observables that are sensitive to different manifestations of CP violation are measured, (Formula Presented.)where the latter is based on asymmetries in the angle between the μ+μ− and pK− decay planes. Abstract: An amplitude analysis of the decay Λb0 → D0pπ− is performed in the part of the phase space containing resonances in the D0p channel. The study is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1 of pp collisions recorded by the LHCb experiment. The spectrum of excited Λc+ states that decay into D0p is studied. The masses, widths and quantum numbers of the Λc(2880)+ and Λc(2940)+ resonances are measured. The constraints on the spin and parity for the Λc(2940)+ state are obtained for the first time. A near-threshold enhancement in the D0p amplitude is investigated and found to be consistent with a new resonance, denoted the Λc(2860)+, of spin 3/2 and positive parity.

The measurement is performed using the full Run 1 data set collected in proton-proton collisions by the LHCb experiment at the LHC. The data correspond to integrated luminosities of 1 and 2 fb−1 collected at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, respectively. No signal is observed and upper limits on the branching fractions of the non-resonant decays at 95% confidence level are determined to beℬ(Bs0→μ+μ−μ+μ−)

Abstract: The ratio of branching fractions and the difference in CP asymmetries of the decays B+ → J/ψπ+ and B+ → J/ψK+ are measured using a data sample of pp collisions collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1 at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The results are (Formula presented.) where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. Combining this result with a recent LHCb measurement of AC P(B+→ J/ ψK+) provides the most precise estimate to date of CP violation in the decay B+ → J/ψπ+, (Formula presented.).

Abstract: Measurements of the differential branching fraction and angular moments of the decay B0 → K+π−μ+μ− in the K+π− invariant mass range 1330 < m(K+π−) < 1530 MeV/c2 are presented. Proton-proton collision data are used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1 collected by the LHCb experiment. Differential branching fraction measurements are reported in five bins of the invariant mass squared of the dimuon system, q2, between 0.1 and 8.0 GeV2/c4. For the first time, an angular analysis sensitive to the S-, P- and D-wave contributions of this rare decay is performed. The set of 40 normalised angular moments describing the decay is presented for the q2 range 1.1-6.0 GeV2/c4.
