Abstract

•Effect of calcination conditions were studied for up to 100 reaction cycles.•Raising calcination temperature adversely affected the sorbent cyclic performance.•Partial limestone calcination greatly altered the sorbent CO2capture capability.•Uncalcined portion of the sorbents, after being calcined, retained high reactivity.•A method was proposed to estimate the sorbent utilization at different conditions.
