Abstract

Here, we report the fluctuations in symptoms of Omenn syndrome with remarkable changes in T cell phenotype in a patient with CHARGE syndrome. These features of Treg cells suggested that the proliferation of functional Treg cells may have contributed to the improvement of Omenn-like syndrome. The proportion of Treg cells, however, decreased after 33 months of age, and subsequently, the patient presented the symptoms again, such as eczema and diarrhea, with highly activated CD8+ T cells. Overall, our data suggested that the improvement in symptoms of Omenn syndrome was related to the high frequency of Treg cells and the decrease of activated CD8+T cells. [Extracted from the article]
