In Rapid Interpretation of Heart Sounds and Murmurs the emphasis is on clinical applicability of these signs in the diagnosis of heart disease. The current edition also contains two new sections on "dynamic cardiac auscultation"specific hemodynamic maneuvers to alter heart sounds and murmurs—and on their value in the evaluation and diagnosis of specific cardiac lesions. The text of the heart sound section in the fourth edition has been rewritten and expanded to include the tricuspid opening snap, diastolic "knocks," "tumor plop" sounds, and new illustrations.
