The article discusses a report on anthrax exposure following animal-hide drumming event in December 2009 in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, published in the 2010 issue of "Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report." According to the author, findings from the qualitative environmental testing at the drumming event site suggested the aerosolization of spores from drumheads. The clinical case of a 24-year-old woman who was diagnosed with gastrointestinal anthrax after participating in a public drumming circle is discussed. In addition, the article highlights the findings of the epidemiologic investigation of the people involved in the drumming event and who were possibly exposed to anthrax. The clinical implications of the report are also cited.
