Recent Industry looking for paper battery with highly flexibility, easily handling and high voltage. Currently, battery occupies a large quantity of vicinity and contributes to a big part of device weight. In this paper, we use carbon nanotubes with conventional sheet of cellulose based paper as cathode, aluminum foil as anode and a polyethylene (plastic paper) of 50µm as a separator to obtain adaptability, ultra-thin electricity storage without a loss of integrity and performance. In this attempt folded anode and cathode sheets which resulted increase in voltage and achieved approximately 40% more than other paper batteries. Voltage 3.38V is achieved which is better than the preceding existing paper battery voltage.

Empty fruit bunches (EFB) is one of solid waste from crude palm oil (CPO) mill. It’s about 20-22% from fresh fruit bunches (FFB) or equal to the CPO yield. Indonesian CPO production in 2019 was 51.8 million tons; increased by 9% compared to 2018. So, about 51.8 million tons of EFB was available in 2019. EFB is a potential lignocellulosic material for pulp and paper. The utilization of EFB fibers for papermaking has been studied extensively. The use of EFB for printing and writing papers tends to cause pitch problems and poor visual appearance. The most potential use of EFB fibers is for packaging papers. EFB fiber is classified as short up to moderate fibers, so its usage must still be mixed with other fibers to improve the sheet strength. Many experiments have been done regarding the mixture of EFB fibers with other fibers such as OCC (Old Corrugated Containers) and UBC (Used Beverage Cartons) recycled fibers. Other types of paper from EFB are still being developed, including for nursery bags and active packaging papers.

The goal of the research is to improve the surface states of kraft paper and to make coated kraft paper with wear resistance suitable for packaging material. Based on wear and coating mechanism, the research analyzed and compared the characteristics and microstructure of uncoated paper and coated paper.The result shows that coating can reduce the surface resistance and friction of paper.Kraft paper was coated with the VaporCoatTM2200.s coating in the research. The research studied the influence of coating process on wear resistance of coated kraft paper.Two hundred groups of experimental datum of each sample show that the optimal coating weight is 18g/m2. As expected, coated kraft paper has better wear resistance and other performance than the uncoated kraft paper. The results show that the coating technology is an inexpensive and environmentally friendly process. The research provides the theoretical basis and data supporting for packaging enterprises to produce the coated paper-based packaging materials with wear resistance.

Computational simulation for the fluid flow in a paper based microfluidic system was performed and was experimentally validated in this work. Comsol Multiphysics based simulation was performed and the module used was species transport in porous medium. Two separate simulation for the reagent distribution and the interaction of sample with the immobilized reagent in paper based microfluidics devices were carried out. This was performed by varying the parameters such as adsorption constant, diffusivity and average velocity of fluid in the porous medium for finding the concentration profile. Finer mesh were used for the simulation which gives more accurate results with less computational time. The reagent distribution was experimentally validated by dropping methylorange indicator over Whatman filter paper.

This work describes comparation two designs of a microfluidic paper-based analytical devices (µPADs) using a wax printing for fabrication of hydrophobic zones on the chromatographic paper and their application to the detection of lead in waste samples. Two different designs used in this research were distance-based method and analysis image method. Sodium rhodizonate in tartrate buffer solution (pH 2.8) solution are used as the colorimetric reagents for the direct naked eyed detection of lead(II) on µPADs. The detection of lead(II) concentration is conducted by measuring the distanceof a colored reaction product which propagate in the detection zone (design 1) and the change in color intensity on the µPADs is also used for the lead detection using ImageJ software to determine the RGB value (design 2). Related to both methods can be used to determine the concentration of lead(II) with a comparable coefficient of determination, but based on the analysis method, design one is a design that is very simple, easy, fast, inexpensive and only uses the naked eye for detection.

Issues related to the performance and processing remain a challenge when managing materials from renewable and natural resources. This study aims to show the potential of biopolymer film composite from cassava starch and carboxymethylcellulose to replace the synthetic coating and the area of studies are its barrier, mechanical and chemical properties. Fourier Transform Infrared analysis identified that only film containing CMC could act as antimicrobial agent carrier. The biopolymer film coated on the kraft paper with the presence of 30% v/v glycerol and 10% w/w CMC had the highest tensile strength, at 15 MPa. The film-coated paper also exhibited a hydrophobic surface with reduction of the contact angle from 104.95° to 96.33° for 120 seconds. Meanwhile, addition of turmeric oil into developed BF 3 showed insignificant changes in tensile strength but reduced the contact angle to less than 90°. Thus, the formulated coating materials can be used as an alternative green technology for paper coating used in food industry and can be classified as a form of active packaging.

In chemical pulping process, lignin is targeted to be dissolved and eliminated as much as possible in order to obtain better fiber separation. A primary study was carried out to investigate the effect of sodium hydroxide pretreatment prior to bamboo chemical pulping. The selected bamboo species was Gigantochloa scortechinii which is a well-known bamboo in Malaysia. The bamboo chips were soaked in 2 % sodium hydroxide solution for 6 hours at 60 °C. These treated chips were cooked at 14 % and 18 % of alkali active via kraft pulping process. The unbleached pulp was obtained and made into paper. The pulp and paper were tested according to pulp yield, pulp freeness, paper optical, paper physical and paper mechanical properties. The results exhibited that by using treated bamboo chips, the value of pulp yield, freeness and paper brightness increasing. Slight decrement was observed for mechanical paper properties such as tensile, tear and burst strength. Chemical pretreatment prior to pulping process was investigated to offer significant effects to the pulp and paper properties of bamboo Gigantochloa scortechinii. Hence, mild kraft pulping can be carried out to produce bamboo unbleached pulps. In addition, dependency on bleaching sequences can also be declined.

Papers are one of the most used materials in food packaging industries. Additives need to be added in order to improve and prolong sensory properties of food. This is to maintain the food quality level before reaching to the end users. A preliminary study has been conducted to produce antimicrobial paper by blending the pulps of Citronella (Cymbopogon nardus) with oil palm empty fruit bunch (EFB). The papermaking was done according to TAPPI Standard Method. Morphological observation using Scanning Electron Microscope was carried out for all samples while physical, optical and mechanical paper properties were also determined. A simple antimicrobial test was also done by using 3 types of fungus namely as Aspergillus brasiliensis ATCC 16404, Gram positive Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 and Salmonella choleraesuis (subtype enterica). The morphological observation showed the difference between EFB paper and paper made of blended pulps. Citronella was found to affect the physical, optical and mechanical paper properties as expected. To be specific, the paper opacity was improved while the mechanical properties especially tensile and tear indices were dropped tremendously. However, the presence of Citronella in the paper sheet seems to have good potential as an antimicrobial agent as shown by the antimicrobial test

Low-velocity impact tests of unfilled and foam-filled Kraft paper honeycomb are carried out to investigate the effect of foam, indenter size and location of indentation on maximum or peak force and energy absorption capability. In this study, three indenter sizes (10mm, 12mm, 15mm) and three different locations of indentation (vertical edge, double wall and single wall) were used and compared. The test results show that the foam is given a significant increment of peak force and specific energy absorption to the honeycomb structure subjected to indentation load. The peak force and energy absorption capability also effected by indenter size which due to the contact area of indentation. As for the location of indentation, vertical edge gives highest peak force and energy absorption by the fact that vertical edge is the intersection of three walls of honeycomb cell.

In this study, three parameters, namely the density of Kraft paper, the thickness of cell wall and the cell size of honeycomb were evaluated. A statistical analysis was performed to investigate the effect of the parameters on the specific compression strength(SCS) and specific energy absorption (SEA) of Kraft paper honeycomb. Based on the design of experiment, 27 configuration of Kraft paper honeycomb with different cell sizes (10mm, 15mm, 20mm), thicknesses of cell wall (1ply, 2ply, 3ply) and paper densities (80gsm, 120gsm, 175gsm) are subjected to quasi static compression loading. An analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to examine the effect of each parameters and to obtain the optimum configuration of Kraft paper honeycomb. As a result, the thickness of cell wall shows as the most prominent parameter for specific energy absorption and specific compression strength. Meanwhile, the Kraft paper honeycomb with density 175gsm, 3 ply thickness of paper and 10mm cell size of honeycomb shows the optimum configuration with 724.80 J/kg of SEA and 9.35 MPa/kg of SCS.

In this review paper we have done a detailed study on the different types of material that we can use for the manufacturing of alloy wheels in order to meet the need of the market. During this project we studied the fatigue analysis of aluminium, magnesium, and titanium alloy wheels on the basis of their deformation under load, maximum shear stress of materials, and equivalent stress of the materials. Also we studied the different methods of production of alloy wheels.

With the application of battery becoming more and more widely in our life, the importance of battery production with high quality has been increasingly emphasized. Battery separator is one of the important factors that affect the performance of the battery, so the high functions separator production is particularly important. This article preliminary investigates the effect of pulp types, composition and beating degree on the performances of separator. Main research work:Beating softwood pulp, hardwood pulp and dissolving pulp for different degree by PFI, and papermaking, then detecting the physical properties of paper sheets. Through comprehensive analysis conclude that softwood pulp, hardwood pulp and dissolving pulp have excellent physical properties in the 40° SR, and thermal stability up to 200° in the process of heat treatment. The paper sheets are made using different ratio of softwood pulp, hardwood pulp and dissolving pulp, then test the physical properties. According to the comprehensive analysis of experimental datum obtained that the sheets made using mixed pulp (40° SR dissolving pulp: 40° SR softwood =5:5) have excellent physical performance, and sheet strength index decreased slightly at 200°C, compared to other ratios.

This paper presents the study of breakdown characteristic of Kraft paper insulated with two different types of insulating fluid, which are Palm oil and Coconut oil. Palm oil and Coconut oil are chosen as the alternative fluid to the transformer oil because it has high potential and environmentally-friendly. The Segezha Kraft papers with various thicknesses (65.5 gsm, 75 gsm, 85gsm, 90 gsm) have been used in this research. High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC), High Voltage Alternating Current (HVAC) and carbon track and severity analysis is conducted to observe the sample of aging Kraft paper. These samples have been immersed using Palm oil and Coconut oil up to 90 days to observe the absorption rate. All samples started to reach saturation level at 70 days of immersion. HVDC and HVAC breakdown experiments have been done after the samples had reached the saturation level based on normal condition, immersed in Palm oil and immersed in Coconut oil. All samples immersed in liquid show different breakdown voltage reading compared to normal condition. The analysis of carbon track and severity on surface has been done using Analytical Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) Analysis. The results of the experiment show that the sample of Kraft paper immersed in Palm oil was better than Coconut oil immersed sample. Therefore the sample condition was the main factor that determines the value of breakdown voltage test. Introduction

A preliminary test was conducted to investigate the characteristics of linerboard and corrugated medium paper made from durian rind waste. Naturally dried durian rinds were pulped according to Soda-Anthraquinone (Soda-AQ) pulping process with a condition of 20% active alkali, 0.1% AQ, 7:1 liquor to material ratio, 120 minutes cooking time and 170°C cooking temperature. The linerboard and corrugated medium paper with a basis weight of 120 gsm were prepared and evaluated according to Malaysian International Organization for Standardization (MS ISO) and Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI). The results indicate that the characteristics of durian rind linerboard are comparable with other wood or non-wood based paper and current commercial paper. However, low CMT value for corrugated medium and water absorptiveness quality for linerboard could be improved in future. Based on the bulk density (0.672 g/cm3), burst index (3.12 kPa.m2/g) and RCT (2.00 N.m2/g), the durian rind has shown a good potential and suitable as an alternative raw material source for linerboard industry.

We report the preparation, reduction and characterization of GO paper that obtained by assembly of individual GO sheets. The free standing GO paper was prepared from 4 mg/ml GO dispersed in water, and following by evaporation of water and then detach from the petri dish. In order to obtained graphene-like film, the free-standing GO film then thermally reduced by heating the samples at 250°C at varied heating time. Characteristic and properties of the thermally reduced GO paper was measured by means of infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and EDS.

In this research, paper-based SERS active substrates with different grade gram per square meter (GSM) were prepared by adsorbing 40 nm spherical GNP and 40nm star shaped gold nanostructures GNS. Besides the SERS evaluation and optimization, morphological parameters of the samples were found to strongly affect the enhancer properties of the substrates. The developed substrate was tested regarding surface homogeneity as well as by the Raman reporter dye Methylene Blue (MB). These paper-based SERS active substrates are simple to prepare, easy to handle and cheap solid SERS substrates. GNS with 135 GSM printing paper can be easily used as highly active SERS active substrates, with average enhancement factor EF= 105.

The effects of three factors, such as aging degree, water content and temperature, on the dielectric response characteristics of oil-paper insulating materials were studied by setting up a frequency-domain dielectric response experimental platform. In this paper, the frequency domain dielectric spectrum (FDS) test is carried out for the on-site transformer paper insulated casing, and it is found that the method is more abundant than the traditional power frequency dielectric loss method, which is less affected by the work frequency electromagnetic field, and can realize the nondestructive measurement of the aging state of the oil-grease insulation.

Mixed oil is considered as an ideal insulating fluid for its great physicochemical and insulation properties. A novel mixed oil consisted of 75 vol.% mineral oil and 25 vol.% palm oil, was developed by our team and its main properties basically come up the standards of IEC 60296:2012. In this study, the dielectric properties of mineral oil-impregnated paper (MIN-IP) and mixed oil-impregnated paper (MIX-IP), were comparative analyzed at 25 °C-65 °C, including relative permittivity and dielectric loss factor. The temperature effect on AC breakdown properties for MIN-IP and MIX-IP were also researched at 25 °C-75 °C. The result shows that MIX-IP have higher relative permittivity and dielectric loss factor than MIN-IP. The difference on dielectric strength between MIN-IP and MIX-IP is more significant at 45 °C to 65 °C.

In modern years, effective utilization of high performance concrete in construction because of their increase in durability and mechanical properties. In particular high performance concrete is made by replacing/introducing mineral admixtures and chemical admixtures with cement or replacing/introducing the fibers into the concrete. The focus of this review is to illustrate the properties of the various materials used, mix proportion of materials to make high performance concrete and observation of high performance concrete. Moreover there are three main groups which are important in manufacture of high performance concrete they are increase of workability, increase of strength and increase of durability. Finally the studies on the high performance concrete have been reviewed.

This review is aimed at exploring the possibilities of recovering Chromium ions using several low-cost adsorbents through wastewater processing. In the past, several traditional methods were employed for removing Chromium ions. These included precipitation, evaporation, electroplating and ion exchange. However, these processes were associated with various limitations, which included the treatments to be restricted to a certain concentration of the Chromium ions. Therefore, the process of using low-cost adsorbents can be deemed as an eco-friendly one. At the moment, an enormous amount of natural materials and agricultural waste are produced, which extremely harmful to the environment. Thus, adsorption is an alternate process for removing Chromium ions. Based on the enhanced characteristics of the process of adsorption, such as cost-effectiveness, improved adsorptive properties, and increased availability, the process is definitely an economical one for removing Chromium ions. This review provides a brief appraisal of the relevant literature which exists on the low-cost adsorption for removing Chromium from polluted wastewaters. Additionally, in order to comprehend the overall adsorption process of low-cost adsorbents, this review will also explore the various existing adsorption models. These include the isotherm, kinetics, and thermodynamics along with the impact of various factors on the process of adsorption.

Flame flashback phenomena and combustion stability in a swirl burners represent the major of instability problems that lead to causing a considerable damage to combustion systems as well as the pollution troubles. Recently, researchers suggested many techniques in order to enhancing flame flashback resistance especially against a combustion induced vortex breakdown mechanism in addition to boundary layer flashback. Therefore, the present paper represent a general review about flashback and combustion stability in swirl burners to be as a scientific reference for researchers in this field.

A statistical analysis was performed to evaluate the effect of factor and to obtain the optimum configuration of Kraft paper honeycomb. The factors considered in this study include density of paper, thickness of paper and cell size of honeycomb. Based on three level factorial design, two-factor interaction model (2FI) was developed to correlate the factors with specific energy absorption and specific compression strength. From the analysis of variance (ANOVA), the most influential factor on responses and the optimum configuration was identified. After that, Kraft paper honeycomb with optimum configuration is used to fabricate foam-filled paper honeycomb with five different densities of polyurethane foam as filler (31.8, 32.7, 44.5, 45.7, 52 kg/m3). The foam-filled paper honeycomb is subjected to quasi-static compression loading. Failure mechanism of the foam-filled honeycomb was identified, analyzed and compared with the unfilled paper honeycomb. The peak force and energy absorption capability of foam-filled paper honeycomb are increased up to 32% and 30%, respectively, compared to the summation of individual components.

Utilization of ginger pulp waste from herbal medicine and instant drinks industry in Indonesia currently used for fertilizer and fuel, whereas the ginger pulp still contains high oleoresin. Active paper packaging were developed incorporated with ginger pulp oleoresin (0%, 2%, 4%, and 6% w/w). Physical (thickness, tensile strength, and folding endurance, moisture content), sensory characteristics and antimicrobial activity of the active paper were evaluated. Selected active paper then were chemically characterized (functional groups). The additional of ginger pulp oleoresin levels are reduced tensile strength, folding endurance and sensory characteristic (color, texture and overall) and increased antimicrobial activity. Due to physical, sensory characteristic and antimicrobial activity, active paper with 2% ginger pulp oleoresin incorporation was selected. Characteristics of selected paper were 9.93% of water content; 0.81 mm of thickness; 0.54 N / mm of tensile strength; 0.30 of folding endurance; 8.43 mm inhibits the growth of Pseudomonas fluorescence and 27.86 mm inhibits the growth of Aspergillus niger (antimicrobial activity) and neutral preference response for sensory properties. For chemical characteristic, selected paper had OH functional group of ginger in 3422.83 cm-1 of wave number and indicated contain red ginger active compounds.

Converter transformer is an important equipment in HVDC system and it is the key to the stable operation of the whole power transmission and distribution system. Unlike the traditional AC transformer, the oil-paper insulation of converter transformer will receive both AC and DC voltage. So the requirement for the structure design of oil-paper insulation system will be more stringent. It is of great engineering significance to study the electric field distribution of converter transformer and to study the influence of different oil-paper insulation configuration on the electric field distribution in the internal insulation of converter transformer. In this paper, first, an oil-paper insulation structure of converter transformer is established and electric field distribution under AC/DC composite voltage is studied. Then change the thickness and layers of pressboard, the distance of oil channel and the oil-paper ratio to get different oil-paper configurations. Use the simulation software to calculate the electric field distribution under the different oil-paper configurations. Finally, the influence of different oil-paper configuration on the electric field distribution of internal insulation structure of converter transformer is analysed which will provides significant reference for the internal insulation design of converter transformer.

This paper is devoted to fabrication of Ti3SiC2-based ceramic materials from preceramic paper using spark plasma sintering (SPS) method. The synthesis temperature and pressure were 1373-1473 K and 30 MPa, respectively. The phase composition, microstructure and elemental composition were analysed using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, respectively. The effect of temperature on the sintering process as well as on the phase and microstructure of the sintered materials was investigated.

Underutilized agro-waste of cultivated banana pseudostem was treated by a soda pulping process and passed through a microfluidizer to prepare nanofibrillated cellulose (BA). TEM images confirmed the presence of thin fibrils and fine webs of BA with average diameter and length of 20.0±7.6 nm and 1.7±0.1 μm, respectively. Reinforcing potential of this BA nanofibers in recycled papers was investigated by adding 0.5, 1.0 and 5.0 wt% BA into the recycled bagasse sheets. Tensile testing results indicated that all mechanical properties (i.e. tensile index, breaking length, Young’s modulus, and elongation) were noticeably increased all at once. SEM images revealed that the physically retained BA nanofibers in the sheet structures bridged and linked between bagasse fibers increasing inter-fiber bonding, hence, strengthening the sheets as a result. Toughness of the reinforced sheets was also found to be significantly enhanced (~128% increase with 5.0 wt% BA incorporation). The change in failure mode showing fibers stretching and slippage before breaking was observed on fractured surface of this paper sheet. This BA cellulose nanofiber demonstrated to be highly promising as reinforcement in pulp and paper industry.

The conductive paper has been of great interest due to its flexibility and superior properties. In this work, the facile procedure with scalable possibility was used to prepare conductive paper with graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO). GO synthesized by the modified Hummers’ method was successfully transformed to rGO using ascorbic acid. These GO and rGO were used as a conductive source to improve conductive properties of the as-prepared paper. GO and rGO (0 – 25 wt%) were mixed with nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) to form conductive paper. Results showed that the reduction of the electrical resistance was found from both GO/NFC and rGO/NFC paper sheets with increasing a content of GO or rGO. Furthermore, the paper with rGO exhibited more outstanding electrical conductive than the GO/NFC paper. Also, the water uptake of the conductive paper was affected by the addition of GO or rGO. The significant reduction of water uptake was found to be more pronounced with the introduction of rGO in comparison with the presence of GO. The conductive paper prepared in this study would be useful for applications such as flexible electrode.

Transformers are an important part of the power transmission and distribution process of power systems. Designing and manufacturing a stable transformer is essential for the stable operation of the entire power system. Accordingly it is critical for the stable operation of the entire power system to design and manufacture a stable transformer. In order to improve the composite insulation performance of the oil-paper in power transformer, studying the polarization characteristics of oil-paper composite insulation is essential. In this paper, the polarization characteristics of high external applied voltage and different oil-paper composite insulation structures are studied. In the three-electrode system, the cardboard has obvious polarization characteristics at the two poles, and the polarization characteristics are most obvious when the cardboard is at the high pressure pole. The initial value and the attenuation function of the polarization and depolarization current do not match the laws determined by the RC circuit. When the voltage is at a higher level, the difference between the initial values of the polarization and depolarization currents at different positions of the cardboard at the same voltage level is greater, and the polarity effects are more obvious. the above rules still exist when the distance between the electrodes is changed.

After analysis of calorimetric tests results of the cement mixtures with PSw prepared at different temperatures and SEM, XRD, physical-mechanical properties results of cement stone hardened for 7 and 28 days, it is determined that PSw can be utilized/used for the preparation of cement mixtures by adding up to 5%. Depending on the environmental working conditions, the preparation of PSw can be selected. To slow down cement hydration processes, it is useful to use only dried PSw, which slows down the hydration of the cement due to the high content of cellulose contained in PSw. To accelerate cement hydration, it is expedient to use PSw which is burned at 700°C. Dried PSw performs an extended induction hydration period and significantly delays the second heat release time. After the addition of 5% dried PSw, the phase III effect time compared to the control sample is 1.8 h, and after 10% addition, it is extended to 4.4 h. After the addition of 5% burnt PSw, the phase III effect time compared to the control sample is hastened to 1.9 h, after inserting 10% – to 2.4 h. The use of PSw saves the environment, reduces the amount of cement in the mixture and improves the properties of cement materials. Using 5% PSw burned at 700°C instead of cement increases the compressive strength of the specimens, and the density as well as ultrasound pulse velocity values are slightly changed compared to the control sample. It is determined that burnt PSw significantly changes mineral composition and structure. It is found that the microstructure of samples without PSw and samples with dried 5% PSw is similar, crystals formed are visible. With a higher (10%) amount of dried PSw, the microstructure of the cement stone differs significantly from the control samples. Larger voids with plenty of etringite are also visible, as well as higher levels of calcite. The microstructure of specimens with burnt PSw is significantly denser. XRD studies show that with a higher amount of PSw burned at 75°C, the main peak intensities of crystallohydrates ettringite and portlandite are lower, while the peak intensities of calcite are higher compared to samples without PSw. By increasing the amount of dried PSw in mixtures and reducing the amount of cement, the peak intensities corresponding to CSH and CASH are lower compared to those of the control samples. Using burnt PSw also reduces the peak intensities of ettringite, portlandite, CSH and belite, but significantly increases peak intensities of calcite and CASH.

Bamboo cropping period is quite short compared to wood, but fiber and bamboo pulp have not been optimally used as a substitute for wood in composite industry, such as fiber board. It is worth to be investigated because of the availability of wood is declining. Therefore, this research aimed at revealing the use of fiber and bamboo pulp (G. apus) for fiberboard. The study was conducted using bamboo fibers from bamboo strips cooked with soda process and bamboo pulp from chips of bamboo cooked with soda process and Kraft process. Composite of bamboo fiber is made with a variety of fiber weight fraction to the epoxy resin matrix. Furthermore composite of bamboo pulp is made under optimal condition for making fiber composite. Based on the test results, it is known that the quality of the bamboo fiber composite from bamboo strips cooked with soda process is better than the composite of bamboo pulp. Besides, the produced bamboo fiber composites can be categorized as the high-density fiberboard meanwhile for the aspect of water content, water absorption, length and thickness changes, flexural strength and modulus of elasticity are in accordance with applicable standard for fiberboard (SNI 01-4449 - 2006).

Supercapacitor have attracted much attention due to its fast power supply, long cycle life, simple principle, etc. Supercapacitors are widely used in consumer electronics. Activated carbon is a typical material for electric double layer capacitor. Here, we study the electrochemical performance of an activated carbon (TF-B520) bulky paper electrode made by vacuum filtration method. Cyclic Voltammetry and Constant Current Charge/Discharge were used to test the electrode capacitance and the rate performance. The results showing that TF-B520 activated carbon balky paper electrodes have the highest capacitance of 120F/g at scan rate 1mV/s and good capacitor behaviour at scan rate below 20mV/s and current density below 250mA/g.

Metal oxide nanoparticles such as zinc oxide are increasingly being recognized for potential use in research and health-related application. It is usually incorporated in the modern healthcare products functioning as antimicrobial properties. These inorganic compounds could be applied for antimicrobial paper. Therefore, the objective of this study is to investigate the growth distribution of zinc oxide nanoparticles prepared via in-situ approaches on unbleached and bleached pulps. In order to produce these pulps, hydrothermal method is used throughout the study. The micrograph obtained from the scanning of Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope exhibited that zinc oxide nanoparticles appeared in the range of 64.1 nm to 87.5 nm supported by the analysis of Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis, as high as 27% zinc and 39% oxygen. As expected, zinc oxide nanoparticles decreased the mechanical properties of paper due to the interference of fiber bonding. Antimicrobial test demonstrated acceptable results which required further test.

Buildings are responsible for 36% of the final energy consumption in Morocco [1-2], and a reduction of this energy consumption of buildings is a priority for the kingdom in order to reach its energy saving goals. One of the most effective actions to reduce energy consumption is the selection and development of innovative and efficient building materials [3]. In this work, we present an experimental study of the effect of adding treated organic waste (paper, cardboard, hash) on mechanical and thermal properties of cement and clay bricks. Thermal conductivity, specific heat and mechanical resistance were investigated in terms of content and size additives. Soaking time and drying temperature were also taken into account. The results reveal that thermal conductivity decreases as well in the case of the paper-cement mixture as that of the paper-clay and seems to stabilize around 40%. In the case of the composite paper-cement, it is found that, for an additives quantity exceeding 15%, the compressive strength exceeds the standard for the hollow non-load bearing masonry. However, the case of paper-clay mixture seems to give more interesting results, related to the compressive strength, for a mass composition of 15% in paper. Given the positive results achieved, it seems possible to use these composites for the construction of walls, ceilings and roofs of housing while minimizing the energy consumption of the building.

The carbon composite papers were produced by utilizing carbon materials from coconut coir. In the present work, carbon composite papers (CCP) were prepared by mixing carbon materials in the form of powder and fibre with polymer (ethylene vinyl acetate and polyethylene glycol) in xylene at 100°C. Then, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) with different content was used to treat the surface of CCP. The properties of PTFE-coated CCP were analysed by means of contact angle measurement, tensile testing, porosity, density, and electrical conductivity measurements. As expected, all CCP's surfaces treated with PTFE were found to be hydrophobic with contact angle >120° and relatively constant during 60 minutes measurement. Furthermore, water contact angle, density, and mechanical properties of CCP generally increase with increasing PTFE content. However, the porosity and electrical conductivity of CCP decrease slightly as the PTFE content increased from 0 wt% to 30 wt%. Based on the observation and analysis, the optimum PTFE content on CCP was 20 %, in which the mechanical properties and hydrophobicity behaviour were improved significantly, but it was only caused a very small drop in porosity and electrical conductivity

By screening through test, it was found that the drug-loaded chitosan microspheres with the average particle size of 615 nm may be prepared with NaF as the mold-proof drug, chitosan as the drug carrier and sodium tripolyphosphate as the cross-linking agent; and they can improve the aspergillus niger-proof effect if loaded onto the base paper surface of the paper-based PVC wallpaper. The results show that NaF and chitosan have mold-proof synergistic effects; the mold-proof effect of the wallpaper may be improved by increasing the dose of chitosan; when the mass ratio of NaF, sodium tripolyphosphate and chitosan was 2:7:28, the paper-based PVC wallpaper with good mold-proof property can be prepared.

Current chromatography methods used for radiochemical purity test of 131I-Hippuran is time consuming. Therefore, in this study we explored several static and mobile phases in order to have a chromatography method which is accurate and efficient or less time consuming. In this study, stationary phases (Whatman-1, 31ET, and 3MM papers) and several mobile phases were explored to separate 131I-Hippuran from its impurity (131I iodide ion). The results of this study showed that the most efficient chromatography system for measurement of radiochemical purity of 131I-Hippuran was by using Whatman-31ET paper and n-butanol: acetic acid: water (4:1:1) as a static phase and mobile phase respectively. Developing time for this method was of approximately 75.7 ± 2.7 minutes. The result of radiochemical purity (%RCP) of 131I-Hippuran measured with this chromatography system either using Whatman-1 or Whatman-31ET paper strips was 98.7%. The short size of Whatman-31ET paper strip (1 x 8 cm) was found to have shorter developing time compared to that of long size paper. This system showed a good separation of 131I-Hippuran from its impurities and gave %RCP of 98.1% ± 0.04% with developing time approximately 44.3 ± 9.4 minutes. The short size of Whatman-31ET paper strips was found to be more efficient compared to that of Whatman-1 and Whatman-3MM paper strips in term of developing time.

In the paper, existing research and operating experience was summarized. On the basis, the particularity of oil-paper insulation operation condition for converter transformer was combined for studying the influence of temperature on oil-paper insulation field intensity distribution of converter transformers under different AC contents within wide temperature scope (-40°C~105°C). The law of temperature gradients on space charge accumulation was analyzed. The breakdown or flashover characteristics of typical oil-paper compound insulation structure under the action of DC, AC and AC-DC superposition voltage at different temperatures were explored. The design principles of converter transformer oil-paper insulation structures in alpine region was proposed. The principle was adjusted and optimized properly according to the operation temperature scope and withstood AC-DC proportion. The reliability of transformer operation was improved on the one hand, and the insulating medium can be rationally utilized for reducing the manufacturing cost of the transformer on the other hand.

Flame spread behavior on combustible solid is one of important research related to Fire Safety Engineering. Now, there are a lot of combustible solid composed from mixed materials. In this study, experiments have been conducted to investigate flame spread behavior over combustible solid composed by paper, bagasse and mixed paper/bagasse. Experimental data is captured by using video recording and examined flame spread shape and rate. From the results obtained, shows that the different materials produce different flame spread shape and rate. Different flame shape is seen between all types of samples. Flame spread rate of 100% paper is faster than the one of 100% bagasse. Based on the result, it is also inferred that the material composition can be influenced on the flame spread shape and flame spread rate of mixed paper/bagasse.

The strength of concrete mix is dependent on many parameters like cement type, coarse aggregate and the interface between aggregate and mortar. However, generally the coarse aggregate is treated as an inert material and only its physical properties like shape, size, water absorption and specific gravity are studied. Whereas, as we increase the quality of mortar mix, the strength of coarse aggregate also comes into picture. In case of high performance concrete, the type of coarse aggregate used has a great influence on the strength and elasticity modulus of concrete. For high strength concrete with compressive strength above 40 MPa, which are generally cast with water-cement ratio less than or equal to 0.4, the strength of mortar and the interfacial bond strength may be comparable to the strength of aggregate. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the past research work done on the effect of using different types of coarse aggregate on various properties of concrete mix like its compressive strength, tensile strength and elasticity modulus.

In order to study the influence of temperature on the frequency domain spectroscopy (FDS) of the oil-paper insulation system, the 72.5kV bushing test model was fabricated according to the actual size, and the FDS of the bushing was tested at different temperatures. According to the test curves of the dielectric constant at different temperatures, the influence of temperature on FDS is analysed, and then the extended Debye equivalent circuit model is used to fit the FDS test curves at different temperatures. The characteristic parameters that could be used to characterize the temperature characteristics are extracted, and the relationship between the characteristic parameters and the temperature is established. The results show that dielectric constant tend to move in the high frequency with the increase of temperature. The parameters of the equivalent circuit model are sensitive to the temperature, the insulation resistance Rg and the maximum time constant branch parameter R1 show the exponential function with the temperature, the minimum time constant branch parameter R3 and the temperature show a power function relationship, so the variation of characteristic parameters can be applied to evaluate the influence of temperature on the FDS of the oil-paper insulation bushing.
