In this article we intend to describe some aspects of language teaching as a foreign language for university students and some lexical semantics. The overall objective cognitive and procedural course of lexical semantics of French is to get developing communicative competence for languages by knowledge processes semantic incremental update in the speech meaning lexical through specific processes of contextualization, but also with the concepts semantics. The professional skills acquired students will be able to recognize and describe the semantic relationships contextualization usual vocabulary of the French language, to form his habit to use specialized resources in self-organizing in the interpretation of statements in a foreign language. There can be two types of semantic opposition: : the semantic opposition in meaning between the two stable polilexical units (SPUs) and the semantic opposition between the components of the SPUs. The semantic opposition of the components of the SPUs takes place when the components of two or more SPUs possess antonyms in their composition. Pairs of antonyms can be of bimembre and polimembre types. In this case, they contain the "track record" relationship of antonymy between the two pairs of SPUs, and of numerous SPUs. Phraseological antonyms are classified according to four types of semantic oppositions: 1. gradual, which designate the antonymic pairs of SPUs that express qualities, features, actions, circumstances in opposition of antonymy, possessing the intermediate notions; 2. complementary, which designate the antonymic pairs of SPUs without possessing the intermediate notions; 3. vector, which expresse actions, circumstances, features being in opposite directions, and 4. conversive - the antonymic pairs that express the bilateral relations, presents the same sense in different directions and with the differently placed accents. The motivation of SPUs in this case the following: only the SPUs that can express explicitly, without ambiguity the meaning of the message, but the monolexical synonym includes both polarizing semes into its structure; it leads to confusion in speech. In this case, only the context can „clarify” the situation. When the SPUs do not need the context, they are explicit and eliminate the ambiguous nature of their monolexical synonyms. For two phraseological units to be in antonymic relation it is necessary that they make a part of the same functional-semantic fields - objects, actions, qualities, circumstances - or be correlated to the same part of speech. This article focuses on the structure of phraseological units in the Romanian and English languages via a contrastive study. The author looks into the phraseological antonyms by studying the lexical nature of their components. A classification of this type of antonyms into four groups has been devised while introducing various linguistic perspectives. Generally speaking, antonymy is more frequent within the lexical and phraseological units that signifies abstract notions of space, volume, qualities, quantities, notions of time, objects and phenomena in the material world, notions labeling human activities, feelings, will, desire, the human state, etc. Comparable to the lexical antonyms, the phraseological antonyms belong to the same lexical and grammatical class, namely they are in a correspondence relation with the same parts of speeches: verbs, adjectives, adverbs and nouns. Our research has proven that the phraseological antonyms are usually in a correspondence relation with the verbs , adjectives and nouns and rarely with adverbs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

It is a fact that vocabulary has become the neglected area of language study. One main reason of this article is the trial to move the study of idioms firmly out of the domain of the phrase and the sentence into a consideration of the function of idioms in contexts of communication. This enables an exploration of the roles and functions of idioms in texts and discourses, both spoken and written, understanding the role of idiomatic expressions in the construction of interpersonal meanings, in the formation of coherent text, and in the creation of the stylistic effect. The lexical antonymy and the phraseological antonymy are particular cases of the lexical and of the phraseological meanings that share similitudes and differences. The same thing applies to the lexical and phraseological antonyms in the English and Romanian languages.
