A question of Conca, Rossi, and Valla asks whether every quadratic Gorenstein ring $R$ of regularity three is Koszul. In a previous paper, we use idealization to answer their question, proving that in nine or more variables there exist quadratic Gorenstein rings of regularity three which are not Koszul. In this paper, we study the analog of the Conca-Rossi-Valla question when the regularity of $R$ is four or more. Let $R$ be a quadratic Gorenstein ring having $\mathrm{codim}\, R = c$ and $\mathrm{reg}\, R = r \ge 4$. We prove that if $c = r+1$ then $R$ is always Koszul, and for every $c \geq r+2$, we construct quadratic Gorenstein rings that are not Koszul, answering questions of Matsuda and Migliore-Nagel concerning the $h$-vectors of quadratic Gorenstein rings., Comment: v2 - Minor changes based on referee comments

Starting with work of Serre, Katz, and Swinnerton-Dyer, theta operators have played a key role in the study of $p$-adic and $\bmod p$ modular forms and Galois representations. This paper achieves two main results for theta operators on automorphic forms on PEL-type Shimura varieties: 1) the analytic continuation at unramified primes $p$ to the whole Shimura variety of the $\bmod p$ reduction of $p$-adic Maass--Shimura operators {\it a priori} defined only over the $\mu$-ordinary locus, and 2) the construction of new $\bmod p$ theta operators that do not arise as the $\bmod p$ reduction of Maass--Shimura operators. While the main accomplishments of this paper concern the geometry of Shimura varieties and consequences for differential operators, we conclude with applications to Galois representations. Our approach involves a careful analysis of the behavior of Shimura varieties and enables us to obtain more general results than allowed by prior techniques, including for arbitrary signature, vector weights, and unramified primes in CM fields of arbitrary degree., Comment: Accepted for publication in IMRN. 42 pages

Projective varieties with ample cotangent bundle satisfy many notions of hyperbolicity, and one goal of this paper is to discuss generalizations to quasi-projective varieties. A major hurdle is that the naive generalization fails, i.e. the log cotangent bundle is never ample. Instead, we define a notion called almost ample which roughly asks that the log cotangent is as positive as possible. We show that all subvarieties of a quasi-projective variety with almost ample log cotangent bundle are of log general type. In addition, if one assumes globally generated then we obtain that such varieties contain finitely many integral points. In another direction, we show that the Lang-Vojta conjecture implies the number of stably integral points on curves of log general type, and surfaces of log general type with almost ample log cotangent sheaf are uniformly bounded., v5: exposition greatly improved. This article gives a class of Nullstellensätze for noncommutative polynomials. The singularity set of a noncommutative polynomial $f=f(x_1,\dots ,x_g)$ is $\mathscr{Z}(\,f)=(\mathscr{Z}_n(\,f))_n$, where $\mathscr{Z}_n(\,f)=\{X \in{\operatorname{M}}_{n}({\mathbb{C}})^g \colon \det f(X) = 0\}.$ The 1st main theorem of this article shows that the irreducible factors of $f$ are in a natural bijective correspondence with irreducible components of $\mathscr{Z}_n(\,f)$ for every sufficiently large $n$. With each polynomial $h$ in $x$ and $x^*$ one also associates its real singularity set $\mathscr{Z}^{{\operatorname{re}}}(h)=\{X\colon \det h(X,X^*)=0\}$. A polynomial $f$ that depends on $x$ alone (no $x^*$ variables) will be called analytic. The main Nullstellensatz proved here is as follows: for analytic $f$ but for $h$ dependent on possibly both $x$ and $x^*$, the containment $\mathscr{Z}(\,f) \subseteq \mathscr{Z}^{{\operatorname{re}}} (h)$ is equivalent to each factor of $f$ being “stably associated” to a factor of $h$ or of $h^*$. For perspective, classical Hilbert-type Nullstellensätze typically apply only to analytic polynomials $f,h $, while real Nullstellensätze typically require adjusting the functions by sums of squares of polynomials (sos). Since the above “algebraic certificate” does not involve a sos, it seems justified to think of this as the natural determinantal Hilbert Nullstellensatz. An earlier paper of the authors (Adv. Math. 331 (2018): 589–626) obtained such a theorem for special classes of analytic polynomials $f$ and $h$. This paper requires few hypotheses and hopefully brings this type of Nullstellensatz to near final form. Finally, the paper gives a Nullstellensatz for zeros ${\mathcal{V}}(\,f)=\{X\colon f(X,X^*)=0\}$ of a hermitian polynomial $f$, leading to a strong Positivstellensatz for quadratic free semialgebraic sets by the use of a slack variable.

In [10], Pickrell fully characterizes the unitarily invariant probability measures on infinite Hermitian matrices. An alternative proof of this classification is given by Olshanski and Vershik in [9], and in [3] Borodin and Olshanski deduce from this proof that under any of these invariant measures, the extreme eigenvalues of the minors, divided by the dimension, converge almost surely. In this paper, we prove that one also has a weak convergence for the eigenvectors, in a sense that is made precise. After mapping Hermitian to unitary matrices via the Cayley transform, our result extends a convergence proven in our paper with Maples and Nikeghbali [6], for which a coupling of the circular unitary ensemble of all dimensions is considered.

If $G$ is a group, a virtual retract of $G$ is a subgroup which is a retract of a finite index subgroup. Most of the paper focuses on two group properties: property (LR), that all finitely generated subgroups are virtual retracts, and property (VRC), that all cyclic subgroups are virtual retracts. We study the permanence of these properties under commensurability, amalgams over retracts, graph products and wreath products. In particular, we show that (VRC) is stable under passing to finite index overgroups, while (LR) is not. The question whether all finitely generated virtually free groups satisfy (LR) motivates the remaining part of the paper, studying virtual free factors of such groups. We give a simple criterion characterizing when a finitely generated subgroup of a virtually free group is a free factor of a finite index subgroup. In our previous paper we have elaborated a certain signed count of real lines on real projective n-dimensional hypersurfaces of degree 2n-1. Contrary to the honest "cardinal" count, it is independent of the choice of a hypersurface, and by this reason provides a strong lower bound on the honest count. In this count the contribution of a line is its local input to the Euler number of a certain auxiliary vector bundle. The aim of this paper is to present other, in a sense more geometric, interpretations of this local input. One of them results from a generalization of Segre species of real lines on cubic surfaces and another from a generalization of Welschinger weights of real lines on quintic threefolds., Comment: 20 pages, typos are corrected (most essential, in Proposition 4.3.3)

Numerous Lie supergroups do not admit superunitary representations except the trivial one, e.g., Heisenberg and orthosymplectic supergroups in mixed signature. To avoid this situation, we introduce in this paper a broader definition of superunitary representation, relying on a new definition of Hilbert superspace. The latter is inspired by the notion of Krein space and was developed initially for noncommutative supergeometry. For Heisenberg supergroups, this new approach yields a smooth generalization, whatever the signature, of the unitary representation theory of the classical Heisenberg group. First, we obtain Schrodinger-like representations by quantizing generic coadjoint orbits. They satisfy the new definition of irreducible superunitary representations and serve as ground to the main result of this paper: a generalized Stone-von Neumann theorem. Then, we obtain the superunitary dual and build a group Fourier transformation, satisfying Parseval theorem. We say that a complete nonsingular toric variety (called a toric manifold in this paper) is over $P$ if its quotient by the compact torus is homeomorphic to $P$ as a manifold with corners. Bott manifolds (or Bott towers) are toric manifolds over an $n$-cube $I^n$ and blowing them up at a fixed point produces toric manifolds over $\mathrm{vc}(I^n)$ an $n$-cube with one vertex cut. They are all projective. On the other hand, Oda's $3$-fold, the simplest non-projective toric manifold, is over $\mathrm{vc}(I^n)$. In this paper, we classify toric manifolds over $\mathrm{vc}(I^n)$ $(n\ge 3)$ as varieties and also as smooth manifolds. As a consequence, it turns out that (1) there are many non-projective toric manifolds over $\mathrm{vc}(I^n)$ but they are all diffeomorphic, and (2) toric manifolds over $\mathrm{vc}(I^n)$ in some class are determined by their cohomology rings as varieties among toric manifolds., Comment: 37 pages, 1 figure

Stacky Lie groupoids are generalizations of Lie groupoids in which the "space of arrows" of the groupoid is a differentiable stack. In this paper, we consider actions of stacky Lie groupoids on differentiable stacks and their associated quotients. We provide a characterization of principal actions of stacky Lie groupoids, i.e., actions whose quotients are again differentiable stacks in such a way that the projection onto the quotient is a principal bundle. As an application, we extend the notion of Morita equivalence of Lie groupoids to the realm of stacky Lie groupoids, providing examples that naturally arise from non-integrable Lie algebroids., Comment: 80 pages. v.2: new introduction. We investigate N\'eron models of Jacobians of singular curves over strictly Henselian discretely valued fields, and their behaviour under tame base change. For a semiabelian variety, this behaviour is governed by a finite sequence of (a priori) real numbers between 0 and 1, called "jumps". The jumps are conjectured to be rational, which is known in some cases. The purpose of this paper is to prove this conjecture in the case where the semiabelian variety is the Jacobian of a geometrically integral curve with a push-out singularity. Along the way, we prove the conjecture for algebraic tori which are induced along finite separable extensions, and generalize Raynaud's description of the identity component of the N\'eron model of the Jacobian of a smooth curve (in terms of the Picard functor of a proper, flat, and regular model) to our situation. The main technical result of this paper is that the exact sequence which decomposes the Jacobian of one of our singular curves into its toric and Abelian parts extends to an exact sequence of N\'eron models. Previously, only split semiabelian varieties were known to have this property., Comment: 37 pages. The theory of minimal K-types for p-adic reductive groups was developed in part to classify irreducible admissible representations with wild ramification. An important observation was that minimal K-types associated to such representations correspond to fundamental strata. These latter objects are triples (x, r, beta), where x is a point in the Bruhat-Tits building of the reductive group G, r is a nonnegative real number, and beta is a semistable functional on the degree r associated graded piece of the Moy-Prasad filtration corresponding to x. Recent work on the wild ramification case of the geometric Langlands conjectures suggests that fundamental strata also play a role in the geometric setting. In this paper, we develop a theory of minimal K-types for formal flat G-bundles. We show that any formal flat G-bundle contains a fundamental stratum; moreover, all such strata have the same rational depth. We thus obtain a new invariant of a flat G-bundle called the slope, generalizing the classical definition for flat connections. The slope can also be realized as the minimum depth of a stratum contained in the flat G-bundle, and in the case of positive slope, all such minimal depth strata are fundamental. Finally, we show that a flat G-bundle is irregular singular if and only if it has positive slope., Comment: 37 pages. In this paper, we construct twist automorphisms on quantum unipotent cells, which are quantum analogues of the Berenstein-Fomin-Zelevinsky twist automorphisms on unipotent cells. We show that those quantum twist automorphisms preserve the dual canonical bases of quantum unipotent cells. Moreover, we prove that quantum twist automorphisms are described by the syzygy functors for representations of preprojective algebras in the symmetric case. This is the quantum analogue of Gei{\ss}-Leclerc-Schr\"oer's description, and Gei{\ss}-Leclerc-Schr\"oer's results are essential in our proof. As a consequence, we show that quantum twist automorphisms are compatible with quantum cluster monomials. The Howe dual pair (sl(2),O(m)) allows the characterization of the classical Fourier transform (FT) on the space of rapidly decreasing functions as the exponential of a well-chosen element of sl(2) such that the Helmholtz relations are satisfied. In this paper we first investigate what happens when instead we consider exponentials of elements of the universal enveloping algebra of sl(2). This leads to a complete class of generalized Fourier transforms, that all satisfy properties similar to the classical FT. There is moreover a finite subset of transforms which very closely resemble the FT. We obtain operator exponential expressions for all these transforms by making extensive use of the theory of integer-valued polynomials. We also find a plane wave decomposition of their integral kernel and establish uncertainty principles. In important special cases we even obtain closed formulas for the integral kernels. In the second part of the paper, the same problem is considered for the dual pair (osp(1|2),Spin(m)), in the context of the Dirac operator. In our recent paper [Sh1] a version of the "generalized Deligne conjecture" for abelian $n$-fold monoidal categories is proven. For $n=1$ this result says that, given an abelian monoidal $k$-linear category $\mathscr{A}$ with unit $e$, $k$ a field of characteristic 0, the dg vector space $\mathrm{RHom}_{\mathscr{A}}(e,e)$ is the first component of a Leinster 1-monoid in $\mathscr{A}lg(k)$ (provided a rather mild condition on the monoidal and the abelian structures in $\mathscr{A}$, called homotopy compatibility, is fulfilled). In the present paper, we introduce a new concept of a ${\it graded}$ Leinster monoid. We show that the Leinster monoid in $\mathscr{A}lg(k)$, constructed by a monoidal $k$-linear abelian category in [Sh1], is graded. We construct a functor, assigning an algebra over the chain operad $C(E_2,k)$, to a graded Leinster 1-monoid in $\mathscr{A}lg(k)$, which respects the weak equivalences. Consequently, this paper together with loc.cit. provides a complete proof of the "generalized Deligne conjecture" for 1-monoidal abelian categories, in the form most accessible for applications to deformation theory (such as Tamarkin's proof of the Kontsevich formality)., v5 (68 pages) the final version (minor corrections and improvements to v4 are made)

We develop a general approach to finding combinatorial models for cluster algebras. The approach is to construct a labeled graph called a framework. When a framework is constructed with certain properties, the result is a model incorporating information about exchange matrices, principal coefficients, g-vectors, and g-vector fans. The idea behind frameworks arises from Cambrian combinatorics and sortable elements, and in this paper, we use sortable elements to construct a framework for any cluster algebra with an acyclic initial exchange matrix. This Cambrian framework yields a model of the entire exchange graph when the cluster algebra is of finite type. Outside of finite type, the Cambrian framework models only part of the exchange graph. In a forthcoming paper, we extend the Cambrian construction to produce a complete framework for a cluster algebra whose associated Cartan matrix is of affine type., 50 pages, 2 figures

This is the second part of a study of the limiting distributions of the top eigenvalues of a Hermitian matrix model with spiked external source under a general external potential. The case when the external source is of rank one was analyzed in an earlier paper. In the present paper we extend the analysis to the higher rank case. If all the eigenvalues of the external source are less than a critical value, the largest eigenvalue converges to the right end-point of the support of the equilibrium measure as in the case when there is no external source. On the other hand, if an external source eigenvalue is larger than the critical value, then an eigenvalue is pulled off from the support of the equilibrium measure. This transition is continuous, and is universal, including the fluctuation laws, for convex potentials. For non-convex potentials, two types of discontinuous transitions are possible to occur generically. We evaluate the limiting distributions in each case for general potentials including those whose equilibrium measure have multiple intervals for their support., 51 pages, 1 figure. In this paper, we introduce an algorithm for computing p-adic integrals on bad reduction hyperelliptic curves. For bad reduction curves, there are two notions of p-adic integration: Berkovich-Coleman integrals which can be performed locally; and abelian integrals with desirable number-theoretic properties. By covering a bad reduction hyperelliptic curve by annuli and basic wide open sets, we reduce the computation of Berkovich-Coleman integrals to the known algorithms on good reduction hyperelliptic curves. These are due to Balakrishnan, Bradshaw, and Kedlaya, and to Balakrishnan and Besser for regular and meromorphic 1-forms on good reduction curves, respectively. We then employ tropical geometric techniques due to the first-named author with Rabinoff and Zureick-Brown to convert the Berkovich-Coleman integrals into abelian integrals. Let R be a commutative noetherian ring. The notion of n-wide subcategories of Mod R is introduced and studied in Matsui-Nam-Takahashi-Tri-Yen in relation to the cohomological dimension of a specialization-closed subset of Spec R. In this paper, we introduce the notions of n-coherent subsets of Spec R and n-uniform subcategories of D(Mod R), and explore their interactions with n-wide subcategories of Mod R. We obtain a commutative diagram which yields filtrations of subcategories of Mod R, D(Mod R) and subsets of Spec R and complements classification theorems of subcategories due to Gabriel, Krause, Neeman, Takahashi and Angeleri Hugel-Marks-Stovicek-Takahashi-Vitoria., Comment: 17 pages, to appear in IMRN

This paper studies how long it takes the orbit of the chaos game to reach a certain density inside the attractor of a strictly contracting iterated function system of which we only assume that its lower dimension is positive. We show that the rate of growth of this cover time is determined by the Minkowski dimension of the push-forward of the shift invariant measure with exponential decay of correlations driving the chaos game. Moreover, we bound the expected value of the cover time from above and below with multiplicative logarithmic correction terms. As an application, for Bedford-McMullen carpets we completely characterise the family of probability vectors which minimise the Minkowski dimension of Bernoulli measures. O'Grady constructed a 6-dimensional irreducible holomorphic symplectic variety by taking a crepant resolution of some moduli space of stable sheaves on an abelian surface. In this paper, we naturally extend O'Grady's construction to fields of positive characteristic p greater than 2, called OG6 varieties. We show that a supersingular OG6 variety is unirational, its rational cohomology group is generated by algebraic classes, and its rational Chow motive is of Tate type. These results confirm in this case the generalized Artin--Shioda conjecture, the supersingular Tate conjecture and the supersingular Bloch conjecture proposed in our previous work, in analogy with the theory of supersingular K3 surfaces., Comment: Final version. Equivariant map algebras are Lie algebras of algebraic maps from a scheme (or algebraic variety) to a target finite-dimensional Lie algebra (in the case of the current paper, we assume the latter is a simple Lie algebra) that are equivariant with respect to the action of a finite group. In the first part of this paper, we define global Weyl modules for equivariant map algebras satisfying a mild assumption. We then identify a commutative algebra A that acts naturally on the global Weyl modules, which leads to a Weyl functor from the category of A-modules to the category of modules for the equivariant map algebra in question. These definitions extend the ones previously given for generalized current algebras (i.e. untwisted map algebras) and twisted loop algebras. In the second part of the paper, we restrict our attention to equivariant map algebras where the group involved is abelian, acts on the target Lie algebra by diagram automorphisms, and freely on (the set of rational points of) the scheme. Under these additional assumptions, we prove that A is finitely generated and the global Weyl module is a finitely generated A-module. We also define local Weyl modules via the Weyl functor and prove that these coincide with the local Weyl modules defined directly in a previous paper. The problem of whether the cohomological support map of a finite dimensional Hopf algebra has the tensor product property has attracted a lot of attention following the earlier developments on representations of finite group schemes. Many authors have focussed on concrete situations where positive and negative results have been obtained by direct arguments. In this paper we demonstrate that it is natural to study questions involving the tensor product property in the broader setting of a monoidal triangulated category. We give an intrinsic characterization by proving that the tensor product property for the universal support datum is equivalent to complete primeness of the categorical spectrum. From these results one obtains information for other support data, including the cohomological one. Two theorems are proved giving compete primeness and non-complete primeness in certain general settings. As an illustration of the methods, we give a proof of a recent conjecture of Negron and Pevtsova on the tensor product property for the cohomological support maps for the small quantum Borel algebras for all complex simple Lie algebras., 20 pages

In this paper, we prove the Lipschitz regularity of continuous harmonic maps from a finite-dimensional Alexandrov space to a compact smooth Riemannian manifold. This solves a conjecture of F. H. Lin in [38]. The proof extends the argument of Huang-Wang [28].

In [GHKK18], Gross-Hacking-Keel-Kontsevich discuss compactifications of cluster varieties from "positive subsets" in the real tropicalization of the mirror. To be more precise, let $\mathfrak{D}$ be the scattering diagram of a cluster variety $V$ (of either type -- $\mathcal{A}$ or $\mathcal{X}$), and let $S$ be a closed subset of $\left(V^\vee\right)^{\text{trop}}(\mathbb{R})$ -- the ambient space of $\mathfrak{D}$. The set $S$ is positive if the theta functions corresponding to the integral points of $S$ and its $\mathbb{N}$-dilations define an $\mathbb{N}$-graded subalgebra of $\Gamma(V, \mathcal{O}_V)[x]$. In particular, a positive set $S$ defines a compactification of $V$ through a Proj construction applied to the corresponding $\mathbb{N}$-graded algebra. In this paper we give a natural convexity notion for subsets of $\mathfrak{D}$, called "broken line convexity", and show that a set is positive if and only if it is broken line convex. We compute the asymptotic expectation of the number of {\em open} nodal lines for random waves on smooth planar domains. We find that for both the long energy window $[0,\lambda]$ and the short one $[\lambda,\lambda+1]$ the expected number of open nodal lines is proportional to $\lambda$, asymptotically as $\lambda\to\infty$. Our results are consistent with the predictions in the physics literature made by Blum, Gnutzmann and Smilansky \cite{BGS}., Comment: 1) We simplified the proof of the converse direction in Lemma 2.1. 2) We moved the proof of Prop. 3.2 (and Lemma 3.1) to the appendix and just stated the main results in section 3.2. Bershadsky, Cecotti, Ooguri and Vafa constructed a real valued invariant for Calabi-Yau manifolds, which is called the BCOV invariant. In this paper, we consider a pair $(X,Y)$, where $X$ is a compact Kaehler manifold and $Y\in\big|K_X^m\big|$ with $m\in\mathbb{Z}\backslash\{0,-1\}$. We extend the BCOV invariant to such pairs. If $m=-2$ and $X$ is a rigid del Pezzo surface, the extended BCOV invariant is equivalent to Yoshikawa's equivariant BCOV invariant. If $m=1$, the extended BCOV invariant is well-behaved under blow-up. It was conjectured that birational Calabi-Yau threefolds have the same BCOV invariant. Fomin and Kirillov initiated a line of research into the realization of the cohomology and K-theory of generalized flag varieties G/B as commutative subalgebras of certain noncommutative algebras. This approach has several advantages, which we discuss. This paper contains the most comprehensive result in a series of papers related to the mentioned line of research. More precisely, we give a model for the T -equivariant K-theory of a generalized flag variety KT (G/B) in terms of a certain braided Hopf algebra called the Nichols-Woronowicz algebra. Our model is based on the Chevalley-type multiplication formula for KT (G/B) due to the first author and Postnikov; this formula is stated using certain operators defined in terms of so-called alcove paths (and the corresponding affine Weyl group). The pentagram map takes a planar polygon $P$ to a polygon $P'$ whose vertices are the intersection points of consecutive shortest diagonals of $P$. The orbit of a convex polygon under this map is a sequence of polygons which converges exponentially to a point. Furthermore, as recently proved by Glick, coordinates of that limit point can be computed as an eigenvector of a certain operator associated with the polygon. In the present paper we show that Glick's operator can be interpreted as the infinitesimal monodromy of the polygon. This paper studies the inverse Steklov spectral problem for curvilinear polygons. For generic curvilinear polygons with angles less than $\pi$, we prove that the asymptotics of Steklov eigenvalues obtained in arXiv:1908.06455 determines, in a constructive manner, the number of vertices and the properly ordered sequence of side lengths, as well as the angles up to a certain equivalence relation. We also present counterexamples to this statement if the generic assumptions fail. In particular, we show that there exist non-isometric triangles with asymptotically close Steklov spectra. This paper studies finite Morin configurations $F$ of planes in $\mathbb P^5$ having higher length. The uniqueness of the configuration of maximal cardinality $20$ is proven. This is related to the stable canonical genus $6$ curve $C_{\ell}$ union of the $10$ lines of a smooth quintic Del Pezzo surface $Y$ in $\mathbb P^5$ and to the Petersen graph. Families of length $\geq 16$, previously unknown, are constructed by smoothing partially $C_{\ell}$. A more general irreducible family of special configurations of length $\geq 11$, we name as Morin-Del Pezzo configurations, is considered and studied. This depends on $9$ moduli and is defined via the family of nodal and rational canonical curves of $Y$. The special relations between Morin-Del Pezzo configurations and the geometry of special threefolds, like the Igusa quartic or its dual Segre primal, are focused., Comment: 27 pages

In this paper, we initiate the generalisation of the operadic calculus which governs the properties of homotopy algebras to a properadic calculus which governs the properties of homotopy gebras over a properad. In this first article of a series, we generalise the seminal notion of infini-morphisms and the ubiquitous homotopy transfer theorem. In this paper we study homological stability for spaces ${\rm Hom}(\mathbb{Z}^n,G)$ of pairwise commuting $n$-tuples in a Lie group $G$. We prove that for each $n\geqslant 1$, these spaces satisfy rational homological stability as $G$ ranges through any of the classical sequences of compact, connected Lie groups, or their complexifications. We prove similar results for rational equivariant homology, for character varieties, and for the infinite-dimensional analogues of these spaces, ${\rm Comm}(G)$ and ${\rm B_{com}} G$, introduced by Cohen-Stafa and Adem-Cohen-Torres-Giese respectively. In addition, we show that the rational homology of the space of unordered commuting $n$-tuples in a fixed group $G$ stabilizes as $n$ increases. Our proofs use the theory of representation stability - in particular, the theory of ${\rm FI}_W$-modules developed by Church-Ellenberg-Farb and Wilson. Coset constructions of $\mathcal{W}$-algebras have many applications, and were recently given for principal $\mathcal{W}$-algebras of $A$, $D$, and $E$ types by Arakawa together with the first and third authors. In this paper, we give coset constructions of the large and small $N=4$ superconformal algebras, which are the minimal $\mathcal{W}$-algebras of $\mathfrak{d}(2,1;a)$ and $\mathfrak{psl}(2|2)$, respectively. From these realizations, one finds a remarkable connection between the large $N=4$ algebra and the diagonal coset $C^{k_1, k_2} = \text{Com}(V^{k_1+k_2}(\mathfrak{sl}_2), V^{k_1}(\mathfrak{sl}_2) \otimes V^{k_2}(\mathfrak{sl}_2))$, namely, as two-parameter vertex algebras, $C^{k_1, k_2}$ coincides with the coset of the large $N=4$ algebra by its affine subalgebra. We also show that at special points in the parameter space, the simple quotients of these cosets are isomorphic to various $\mathcal{W}$-algebras. As a corollary, we give new examples of strongly rational principal $\mathcal{W}$-algebras of type $C$ at degenerate admissible levels., 34 pages

For a reductive group $G$, Steinberg established a map from the Weyl group to the set of nilpotent $G$-orbits by using moment maps on double flag varieties. In particular, in the case of the general linear group, it provides a geometric interpretation of the Robinson-Schensted correspondence between permutations and pairs of standard tableaux of the same shape. We extend Steinberg's approach to the case of a symmetric pair $(G,K)$ to obtain two different maps, namely a \emph{generalized Steinberg map} and an \emph{exotic moment map}. Although the framework is general, in this paper we focus on the pair $(G,K) = (\mathrm{GL}_{2n}(\mathbb{C}), \mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{C}) \times \mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{C}))$. Then the generalized Steinberg map is a map from \emph{partial} permutations to the pairs of nilpotent orbits in $ \mathfrak{gl}_n(\mathbb{C}) $. It involves a generalization of the classical Robinson--Schensted correspondence to the case of partial permutations. The other map, the exotic moment map, establishes a combinatorial map from the set of partial permutations to that of signed Young diagrams, i.e., the set of nilpotent $K$-orbits in the Cartan space $(\mathrm{Lie}(G)/\mathrm{Lie}(K))^* $. In this paper we build an explicit example of a minimal bubble on a Willmore surface, showing there cannot be compactness for Willmore immersions of Willmore energy above $16 \pi$. Additionnally we prove an inequality on the second residue for limits sequences of Willmore immersions with simple minimal bubbles. Doing so, we exclude some gluing configurations and prove compactness for immersed Willmore tori of energy below $12 \pi$., Comment: 51 pages

The purpose of this paper is to study the exceptional eigenvalues of the asymmetric quantum Rabi models (AQRM), specifically, to determine the degeneracy of their eigenstates. Here, the Hamiltonian $H^{\epsilon}_{\text{Rabi}}$ of the AQRM is defined by adding the fluctuation term $\epsilon \sigma_x$, with $\sigma_x$ being the Pauli matrix, to the Hamiltonian of the quantum Rabi model, breaking its $\mathbb{Z}_{2}$-symmetry. The spectrum of $H^{\epsilon}_{\text{Rabi}}$ contains a set of exceptional eigenvalues, considered to be remains of the eigenvalues of the uncoupled bosonic mode, which are further classified in two types: Juddian, associated with polynomial eigensolutions, and non-Juddian exceptional. We explicitly describe the constraint relations for allowing the model to have exceptional eigenvalues. By studying these relations we obtain the proof of the conjecture on constraint polynomials previously proposed by the third author. In fact, we prove that the spectrum of the AQRM possesses degeneracies if and only if the parameter $\epsilon$ is a half-integer. Moreover, we show that non-Juddian exceptional eigenvalues do not contribute any degeneracy and we characterize exceptional eigenvalues by representations of $\mathfrak{sl}_2$. Upon these results, we draw the whole picture of the spectrum of the AQRM. In previous work, Mixed-Spin-P field has been introduced and their moduli space $\cal{W}_{g,\gamma,\bf{d}}$ together with a $\mathbb{C}^*$ action is constructed. Applying virtual localization to their virtual classes $[\cal{W}_{g,\gamma,\bf{d}}]^{vir}$, polynomial relations among GW and FJRW invariants of Fermat quintics are derived. In this paper, we prove a vanishing of a class of terms in $[(\cal{W}_{g,\gamma,\bf{d}})^{\mathbb{C}^*}]^{vir}$. This vanishing verifies that in Witten's GLSM only $r$-spin invariants of insertions $2/5$ contribute to the phase transition between GW and FJRW invariants of Fermat quintics., Comment: 35pages

We study the space $X_h$ of Hermitian matrices having staircase form and the given simple spectrum. There is a natural action of a compact torus on this space. Using generalized Toda flow, we show that $X_h$ is a smooth manifold and its smooth type is independent of the spectrum. Morse theory is then used to show the vanishing of odd degree cohomology, so that $X_h$ is an equivariantly formal manifold. The equivariant and ordinary cohomology of $X_h$ are described using GKM-theory. The main goal of this paper is to show the connection between the manifolds $X_h$ and the semisimple Hessenberg varieties well-known in algebraic geometry. Both the spaces $X_h$ and Hessenberg varieties form wonderful families of submanifolds in the complete flag variety. We investigate the topologies of random geometric complexes built over random points sampled on Riemannian manifolds in the so-called "thermodynamic" regime. We prove the existence of universal limit laws for the topologies; namely, the random normalized counting measure of connected components (counted according to homotopy type) is shown to converge in probability to a deterministic probability measure. Moreover, we show that the support of the deterministic limiting measure equals the set of all homotopy types for Euclidean geometric complexes of the same dimension as the manifold., 24 pages, 1 figure. The purpose of this paper is to show that various convolution products are fully homotopical, meaning that they preserve weak equivalences in both variables without any cofibrancy hypothesis. We establish this property for diagrams of simplicial sets indexed by the category of finite sets and injections and for tame $M$-simplicial sets, with $M$ the monoid of injective self-maps of the positive natural numbers. We also show that a certain convolution product studied by Nikolaus and the first author is fully homotopical. In this paper, we study the question of whether on smooth projective surfaces the denominators in the volumes of big line bundles are bounded. In particular, we investigate how this condition is related to bounded negativity (i.e., the boundedness of self-intersections of irreducible curves). Our 1st result shows that boundedness of volume denominators is equivalent to primitive bounded negativity, which in turn is implied by bounded negativity. We connect this result to the study of semi-effective orders of divisors: our 2nd result shows that negative classes exist, which become effective only after taking an arbitrarily large multiple.

In this paper, we show that $\lambda (z_1) -\lambda (z_2)$, $\lambda (z_1)$, and $1-\lambda (z_1)$ are all Borcherds products on $X(2) \times X(2)$. We then use the big CM value formula of Bruinier, Kudla, and Yang to give explicit factorization formulas for the norms of $\lambda (\frac{d+\sqrt d}2)$, $1-\lambda (\frac{d+\sqrt d}2)$, and $\lambda (\frac{d_1+\sqrt{d_1}}2) -\lambda (\frac{d_2+\sqrt{d_2}}2)$, with the latter under the condition $(d_1, d_2)=1$. Finally, we use these results to show that $\lambda (\frac{d+\sqrt d}2)$ is always an algebraic integer and can be easily used to construct units in the ray class field of ${\mathbb{Q}}(\sqrt{d})$ of modulus $2$. In the process, we also give explicit formulas for a whole family of local Whittaker functions, which are of independent interest.

This paper contributes to the study of the fibers of the commutator map on special linear groups in characteristic zero. Specifically, we show that the fibers over non-central elements all have the same dimension. Also we explain that the fibers over central elements can be of larger dimension and compute how large. We use the character tables of finite general linear groups constructed by J.A. Green to count solutions to the commutator equation $[x,y]=g$ over finite fields and use algebraic geometry to go from characteristic $p$ to characteristic $0$. In this paper we study derived equivalences for Symplectic reflection algebras. We establish a version of the derived localization theorem between categories of modules over Symplectic reflection algebras and categories of coherent sheaves over quantizations of Q-factorial terminalizations of the symplectic quotient singularities. To do this we construct a Procesi sheaf on the terminalization and show that the quantizations of the terminalization are simple sheaves of algebras. Let $A$ be the path algebra of a Dynkin quiver over a finite field, and let $C_1(\mathscr{P})$ be the category of 1-cyclic complexes of projective $A$-modules. In the present paper, we give a PBW-basis and a minimal set of generators for the Hall algebra $\H(C_1(\mathscr{P}))$ of $C_1(\mathscr{P})$. Using this PBW-basis, we firstly prove the degenerate Hall algebra of $C_1(\mathscr{P})$ is the universal enveloping algebra of the Lie algebra spanned by all indecomposable objects. Secondly, we calculate the relations in the generators in $\H(C_1(\mathscr{P}))$, and obtain quantum Serre relations in a quotient of certain twisted version of $\H(C_1(\mathscr{P}))$. Moreover, we establish relations between the degenerate Hall algebra, twisted Hall algebra of $A$ and those of $C_1(\mathscr{P})$, respectively., Comment: 20 pages

In this paper we study the infinitesimal deformations of a trigonal curve that preserve the trigonal series and such that the associate infinitesimal variation of Hodge structure (IVHS) is of rank 1. We show that if the genus g is greater or equal to 8 or g=6,7 and the curve is Maroni general, this locus is zero dimensional. Moreover, we complete a result of Naranjo and Pirola. We show in fact that if the genus g is greater or equal to 6, the hyperelliptic locus is the only 2g-1-dimensional sub-locus Y of the moduli space of curves of genus g, such that for the general element [C] in Y, its Jacobian J(C) is dominated by a hyperelliptic Jacobian of genus g' greater or equal to g., Comment: 10 pages
