An editorial is presented on the research questions(s) and method(s), the statistical analysis, and there is then limited discussion or information about the implications of work. It demonstrates knowledge related to a variety of statistical methods. An overview of the contribution to nursing and health care in terms of not only psychiatric mental health care is presented.

Background: Quality of care is one of the most critical issues in nursing care today. Moreover, all health care employees are responsible for providing support and high‐quality, safe care. However, nurses caring for COVID‐19 patients face problems such as unfamiliar work environments, exposure to the disease, lack of experience in their new positions, and close public and media attention. This study aimed to investigate missed nursing care and the reasons for missed nursing care during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) pandemic in Iran. Methods: This cross‐sectional study included 135 nurses working in COVID‐19 units. Data were collected using the MISSCARE Survey. The significance level for the statistical tests was set at p < 0.05. Results: Most of the participants were women and had a bachelor's degree in nursing. There was a lack of supportive and necessary care more than any other form of care. According to nurses, the most common reasons for missed care were urgent patient situations, inadequate staff, and an unexpected rise in patient volume and/or patient acuity on the unit. Conclusion: Generally, the results showed that being positioned in a new situation and unfamiliarity with the disease had a significant impact—among nurses—on the amount of care provided. Managers can use this information to solve existing missed‐nursing‐care problems and contribute to improving the quality of care. These results can be helpful in controlling missed nursing care and finding a more optimal solution for this problem; thus, we can improve the quality of care delivery and increase the satisfaction of nurses and patients. Additionally, an understanding of the kind of missing nursing care during a pandemic can positively enhance the management of similar situations in the future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PURPOSE: To describe a new method of validating nursing outcomes and indicators that incorporates nurses' and patients' perspectives. METHODS: The Nurse–Patient Outcome Content Validation Method was developed in light of the experience of conducting the content validation of the nursing outcome Knowledge: Heart Failure Management (1835). It was developed based on Fehring's content validation model used for the validation of NANDA International nursing diagnoses. It expands the concept of who is an expert in the validation of nursing outcomes. FINDINGS: The Nurse–Patient Outcome Content Validation Method is a new method in which the concept of experts is expanded to gather patients' as well as healthcare professionals' perspectives on the importance of indicators to measure an outcome. Based on the importance ratios, the indicators are grouped into three categories: critical, supplemental, or unnecessary. To validate the outcome, importance ratios of critical and supplemental indicators are summed and divided by the total number of the indicators to calculate the outcome content validity (OCV) score of the nursing outcome. CONCLUSION: The Nurse–Patient Outcome Content Validation Method is a new method of content validation of nursing outcome and indicators that incorporates the patient perspective. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING PRACTICE: The Nurse–Patient Outcome Content Validation Method provides a mechanism to include nurses' and patients' perspectives to content validity research of nursing outcomes. PURPOSE: To test the effects of clinical reasoning prompts on students' clinical judgment of a written case study. METHODS: An experimental pre‐ and posttest study with second semester nursing students (N = 163). FINDINGS: The intervention was insufficient to significantly improve clinical judgment. Students identified that the prompts would help them "narrow... down the problem" and "slow... the decision‐making process" to improve analysis. The most accurate patient problem was identified by 28% of students in pretest and 35% in posttest. CONCLUSIONS: This study provides evidence of variations in nursing students' clinical judgment and students' desire to use decision‐making algorithms. PURPOSE: To analyze the knowledge related to the use of the Rasch model in validation of nursing diagnoses. METHODS: Integrative literature review with search in LILACS, PUBMED, CINAHL, and SCOPUS. FINDINGS: Five studies comprised the sample, which analyzed unidimensionality, local independence, item calibration, item reliability, separation of items and people, and differential item functioning for analyzing nursing diagnoses. CONCLUSIONS: The Rasch model seems to be a useful method to validate nursing diagnoses and probably also for the validation of nursing outcomes in the Nursing Outcomes Classification. The use of this model is promising, considering the advantages that it can be used in studies with several methodological designs. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING: Methods that are able to provide more robust evidence of nursing diagnosis validity are needed to support highly accurate diagnostic findings in clinical practice. PURPOSE: To design and test educational software to improve nursing students’ diagnostic reasoning through NANDA‐I‐based clinical scenarios. METHODS: A mixed method approach was used and included content validation by a panel of 13 experts and prototype testing by a sample of 56 students. FINDINGS: Experts’ suggestions included writing adjustments, new response options, and replacement of clinical information on the scenarios. Percentages of students’ correct answers were 65.7%, 62.2%, and 60.5% for related factors, defining characteristics, and nursing diagnoses, respectively. CONCLUSION: Full development of this software shows strong potential for enhancing students’ diagnostic reasoning. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING PRACTICE: New graduates may be able to apply diagnostic reasoning more rapidly by exercising their diagnostic skills within this software. OBJETIVO: Desenvolver e testar um protótipo de software educativo para melhorar o raciocínio diagnóstico de estudantes de enfermagem. MÉTODOS: Uma abordagem mista foi utilizada e incluiu validação de conteúdo por 13 experts e testagem do protótipo por 56 estudantes. RESULTADOS: Sugestões dos experts incluíram ajustes na escrita, inclusão de novas opções de resposta e substituição de dados clínicos nos cenários. Os percentuais de respostas corretas dos estudantes foram 65,7%, 62,2% e 60,5% para fatores relacionados, características definidoras e diagnósticos de enfermagem respectivamente. CONCLUSÃO: O desenvolvimento deste software tem um forte potencial para melhorar o raciocínio diagnóstico de estudantes. OBJECTIVE To determine the clinical and construct validity of the nursing diagnosis 'decreased cardiac output' (DCO) in patients with chronic heart failure. METHODS Cross-sectional study. RESULTS A total of 200 people were studied. The defining characteristics with the highest prevalence were as follows: arrhythmia (62.5%) and fatigue (61.5%). Adjustment measures such as infit and outfit were maintained between 0.50 and 1.56 and the total variance explained by the measures was 29.3%. CONCLUSIONS This study determined the clinical validity of the nursing diagnosis DCO. Regarding construct validity, adjustment of the defining characteristics to the Rasch model was observed. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING PRACTICE This study improves the evidence-based practice of nursing and strengthened the role of the nurse who leads care to this population. OBJETIVO Determinar la validez clínica y de constructo del diagnóstico de enfermería 'Disminución del Gasto Cardíaco' en pacientes con falla cardíaca crónica. MÉTODOS Estudio de corte transversal. RESULTADOS Un total de 200 pacientes fueron estudiados. Las características definitorias con las mayores prevalencias fueron: arritmia (62.5%) y fatiga (61.5%). Medidas de ajuste como el infit y outfit se mantuvieron entre 0.50 y 1.56. El total de la varianza explicada por las medidas fue de 29.3%. CONCLUSIONES Este estudio determinó la validez clínica del diagnóstico de enfermería 'Disminución del Gasto Cardíaco'. En cuanto a la validez de constructo, se observó que 19 de las 21 características definitorias se ajustaron al modelo Rasch. PURPOSE To determine the frequency of the Nursing Intervention Classification Dying Care activities performed by nurses with end-of-life (EOL) patients. METHODS A cross-sectional, descriptive study using a structured questionnaire to determine the frequencies of Dying Care activities performed by 201 Czech nurses. FINDINGS Nurses reported more frequent use of activities focused on the physical comfort of EOL patients. Significant relationships were found between frequencies in some activities and the nurses' education level, length of work experience, and the department type. CONCLUSIONS Nurses reported infrequent use of communication activities with patients and relatives, which is related to the length of practice. CLINICAL RELEVANCE It is necessary to focus on communication and psychosocial needs of EOL patients in both pregradual and lifelong nursing education. METODY Průřezová deskriptivní studie využívající strukturovaného dotazníku pro určení frekvence aktivit Péče o umírající prováděné 201 sestrou. VÝSLEDKY Sestry u pacientů v závěru života častější využívají aktivity zaměřené na fyzický komfort. Významné vztahy byly nalezeny mezi frekvencí některých aktivit a úrovní vzdělání sester, délkou praxe a typem pracoviště. ZÁVĚRY Sestry uváděly nepříliš časté používání komunikačních aktivit s pacienty a příbuznými, což souvisí s délkou jejich praxe. Purpose The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of an educational intervention on home nursing care plans based on NANDA, Nursing Interventions Classification, and Nursing Outcomes Classification for registered nurses working at primary healthcare settings in Greece. Methods This is a quasi-experimental study without a control group. The sample consisted of 19 registered nurses. The study tool was a questionnaire administered pre- and post-educational intervention. Findings The intervention improved their skills on nursing diagnoses' nomination, proper formulation, and individualization of defining characteristics, but it did not improve them in desired outcomes formulation. Conclusions A significant effect of an educational intervention on nursing care plans was demonstrated.
