Along with the increasing popularity of social network sites (SNSs) and GPS mobile devices, "check-in" has become one of the most popular location-based information sharing activities. Drawing from the communication privacy management theory with the complement of a privacy calculus model, we argue that six factors, privacy risk, benefit, context, culture, motivation, and gender, impact Facebook users' likelihood of checking in. The data was collected from a field experiment with 240 participants, where the privacy risks and benefits were manipulated to increase the variance in the empirical survey. The results indicate the positive impacts of users' perceived benefit and three dimensions of motivation on their location sharing intention, while privacy risk has a negative influence on that intention. Gender and culture were found to have no significant influence. Our findings also highlight the importance of user context in location disclosure behaviour via SNSs. Theoretical implications and practical suggestions are discussed accordingly.

Location-based social network sites (LBSNS) are the integrations of social network service and location-based service. In this study, we examine two opposite factors, the benefits and privacy concerns, which affect the disclosure intention of users on LBSNS in a mobile environment. We utilise the privacy calculus perspective framework on the disclosure intention of location information. Also, the Big Five model is used to examine the impacts of dispositional factors, such as personality traits, on the concern for privacy. The privacy control, legislation awareness and privacy invasion are control variables for both disclosure intention and privacy concern. Data were collected from 298 respondents residing in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The results indicate that the legislation awareness does not seem to exert a significant influence on both privacy concerns and disclosure intention; it can be explained by the poor effectiveness of legislation in a developing country like Vietnam. However, we clearly found that the benefits and privacy concerns have the opposite influence on behavioural decisions of social network users, with the former positively affecting disclosure intention and latter negatively. Moreover, findings in the study show that perceived benefits such as connectedness, locatability and personalisation have stronger effects than privacy concerns do.

The very rapid adoption of mobile devices has attracted Open Source Mobile Application (OSMA) developers to create OSMAs and deliver them to the market. However, the majority of mobile communication studies have examined mobile applications from the end-users' perspective, and relatively little is known from the developers' side. As such, this research aims to investigate the developers' knowledge sharing behaviours within the context of OSMA development project. Drawing from social capital theory and the team cognition literature, the present study developed a research framework that viewed OSMA development project as involving both a virtual community and virtual team. We found that some dimensions of social capital and team cognition positively affect knowledge sharing. Meanwhile, social capital is found to positively influence team cognition. The implications and contributions of this study to the literature are discussed in the article.

With the advances in communication and location-based technology, location-based advertising has been used frequently for mobile advertising. However, scholarly works regarding location-based advertising are still few and far between. This study examines the significance of association between format of advertisement, product involvement, privacy, and brand credibility and consumers' attitudes towards the location-based advertising. The relationship between attitudes towards the location-based advertising and attitudes towards brands is also investigated. The experimental design with web surveys was conducted on 464 staff members of MobiCom Corporation, the largest mobile phone operator in Mongolia. Results show that animated location-based advertising, less personal information embedded advertisement message and foreign-brand products advertised through location-based advertising are significant contributors to a positive attitude towards location-based advertising. Moreover, there is a statistically significant relationship between attitude towards the location-based advertising and attitude towards brands. The implications of the findings are provided.

As the competition between mobile value-added service providers becomes very tight, each company has to be able to provide high-quality services and thus better satisfy their customers. Unfortunately, despite the increasing need for an objective measurement of service quality, there is no general agreement among service marketing scholars on how it should be conceptualised and measured. This paper presents several models of service quality measurements that can be used to assess mobile value-added service quality. This paper also discusses the measurement of customer satisfaction and how it relates to service quality.

Mobile telecommunication has been growing very rapidly, surpassing the number of land lines in 2002. Competition between telecommunication companies is very intense. However, in some market segments, the indirect costs of changing carriers may reduce competition. Therefore, governments have mandated Number Portability. Typically, Number Portability procedures are left to telecommunication providers. Such procedures are examined from a justice perspective to provide guidance for firms wishing to maintain customer loyalty and good will. Testable propositions are offered.
