We report 25 new far-infrared laser lines and 26 heterodyne frequency measurements in hydrazine. The frequencies range from 1.0 to 5.5 THz with most of the frequencies between 2.5 and 4.0 THz. The lines were generated in a high frequency, far-infrared Fabry-Perot laser cavity pumped by a CO2 laser. The cavity has a high Q for wavelengths below 150 µm and uses variable coupling to optimize the power for each line.

We measured the frequencies of 12 far-infrared laser lines generated in a high- frequency Fabry-Perot laser cavity containing methanol, pumped by a CO2 laser. The frequencies are in the range 2.8 to 11.4 THz (105.4 to 26.2 µm). Ten of the measured frequencies are higher than 7 THz, and help to fill the laser frequency gaps in this region. Five of the measured lines are new. The 11.4 THz line has the highest frequency of an optically pumped laser ever measured with the CO2 laser heterodyne technique.

Twenty new cw FIR laser lines in CD3OH, optically pumped by a CO2 laser, are reported. The frequencies of 39 of the stronger laser lines were measured relative to stabilized CO2 lasers with a fractional uncertainty, as determined by the reproducibility of the FIR frequency itself, of 2 parts in 107.

We have measured the frequencies of 12 known and 3 new submillimeter laser lines obtained by pumping12CH3OH with a cw waveguide CO2 laser in a Fabry-Perot far infrared resonator. We have also measured the relative polarization and the pumping CO2 frequency offset for each line.

The frequencies of 26 laser lines with wavelengths between 57 and 534 µm have been measured in the optically pumped laser gases CH3OD and N2H4. A pair of stabilized cw 12CO2 lasers was used as a frequency standard for the heterodyne frequency measurements. Seven of the 26 lines are new.

We obtained laser action from the CH2DOD molecule optically pumped by CO2 laser radiation. Eight lasing transitions were identified as originating from CH2DOD; an additional 21 transitions also lased, but were assigned to the CH2DOH molecule, and 2 to CH3OH, even though the isotopic purity of the sample was given as 98%. The relative intensity, relative polarization and frequency of all the lines were measured. The eight lines are distributed between 145.8 µm and 479.2 µm.

We have measured the output powers and relative polarizations of 66 cw FIR laser lines from CH2DOH (including 50 not previously reported), which were optically pumped by a CO2 laser. The frequencies of 43 of these lines were measured relative to stabilized CO2 lasers.

The frequencies of 48 optically pumped cw FIR CH2F2 laser lines have been measured relative to stabilized CO2 lasers. Uncertainties are estimated to be about 5 parts in 107.

In this work we report the first observation of FIR laser lines from13CD3OH pumped by the13CO2 isotope laser. Using the same pump we have also found 3 new lines from12CD3OH. Tentative assignments for the absorption and emission transitions of the observed lines are also proposed.

The wavelengths, frequencies, and relative polarizations of 15 FIR cw lasing lines obtained by optically pumping CHCl2F with a cw CO2 laser have been measured. The lines are in the wavelength range from 340.3 to 905.4 µm and were pumped by P- and R-branch laser lines in the 9 µm band of CO2.

We have obtained laser action on 34 far infrared lines for the first time in fully deuterated methyl alcohol with the13C isotope (13CD3OD), and we have measured the frequency of 13 lines. The molecule was pumped by a cw CO2 laser. We have measured the wavelength, the relative polarization, the relative intensity of most lines, the frequency, and the CO2 pump frequency offset of the strongest lines. The new lines are distributed in the wavelength region from 75.27 µm to 464.7 µm.

We report for the first time wavelength, relative polarization, and frequency measurements for 47 new cw FIR laser lines in the wavelength region from 120 to 1714 µm, all obtained by optically pumping CD2F2 with a CO2 laser. Relative output powers were also measured. For comparison, the 189.8 µm line pumped by RI(34) is nearly five times as efficient as the 118.8 µm methyl alcohol line.

Twenty-four new submillimeter laser lines in fully deuterated methyl alcohol (CD3OD) in the wavelength range from 52 to 328 µm have been obtained in a Fabry-Perot FIR resonator by optically pumping the methanol with a cw CO2 laser. We have made accurate wavelength measurements and have determined the relative polarization of most of the known CD3OD laser lines. The frequencies of 13 of the strongest lines were also measured.

Abstract: We have used an N2O laser to optically pump N2H4 molecules in a far-infrared cavity and observed 17 new laser lines in the wavelength range 93.0 to 374.2 µm, the 136.8 µm line pumped by 10P(16) being a doublet. We measured the frequencies of the laser lines by heterodyne mixing of the far-infrared radiation with radiation from two frequency-stabilized CO2 lasers.

Abstract: We report here the discovery of 13 new far-infrared laser lines from12CH2F2 and seven new lines from13CH2F2. Most of the new lines were pumped by high-J lines of the 9R branch of a cw-CO2 laser. Wavelengths range from 97.6 to 616.18 µm. Frequency, pump offset, relative polarization, and relative intensity were measured for most of the new lines.
