Abstract

Memory-resistor (Memristor) has drawn considerable attention of the researchers in the last decade due to its remarkable properties. After the first concept of memristor, proposed by Leon Chua in 1971, almost no research work was conducted in this field for a long time. However, since the revolutionary discovery of the physical structure of memristor and its model of the HP lab in 2008, a tremendous amount of research work has been going on. Researchers are focusing on improving the models for the analysis of the memristor. Different researchers have come up with their model to improve the existing ones. These models can be linear, nonlinear or exponential. To overcome the boundary problem, many window functions have been proposed. Different models have their explanations of voltage-current relationship and state variable derivatives. This paper presents a detailed review and a comparative study of the existing memristor models based on their I-V characteristic curve. Abstract

This article presents a new mathematical model for obtaining the fractional Fourier transform (FrFT) of Chirp function. FrFT is a parameterised transform having an adjustable transform parameter which makes it more flexible and superior over ordinary FT in several applications. It is an important tool used in signal processing for spectral analysis. The closed-form expression derived for FrFT of finite duration Chirp establishes the dependence of FrFT of Chirp on the order of FrFT and the Chirp parameter. The mathematical model obtained shows that the Chirp function can be used as an adjustable window function in the fractional Fourier domain. The main-lobe width, side-lobe level and side-lobe fall-off rate of a Chirp window can be controlled by changing the adjustable transform parameter to different values. For some particular values of fractional angle, Chirp can give better spectral parameters than the existing window functions. By varying the order of FrFT, the variations in spectral parameters of the Chirp window are obtained and studied. Abstract

Frequency is an important parameter in the monitoring, control, and protection of power systems and electric equipment. In this article, based on the adaptive short-time Fourier transform, a new digital algorithm is presented to estimate the frequency of electric signals. The novel window, called the Rectangle Self-Convolution Window, is adapted to eliminate the impact of harmonics, and the window length is adjusted according to the variation of signal frequency. The algorithm is easy to implement with high precision and short response time as well as a wide measuring range. It is thus suitable for real-time detection, especially when the frequency changes abruptly and the signal is corrupted by harmonics. Abstract

A set of windows whose normalized half main-lobe widths fall between those of rectangular and the Hanning or Hamming windows, is proposed. These windows are compared with Kaiser's near-optimum zeroth-order Bessel and first-order Bessel windows. The results show that the new windows compare very favourably with Kaiser's windows. The distinct advantage of the windows is their very simple form, similar to that of a Hamming window. As an example of the use of these windows, an estimate of the log power spectrum of a signal consisting of two sinusoidal tones of unequal amplitudes is considered and compared with the estimates using other windows.

Abstract

A now window function based on modified Bessel functions has been proposed. The Courier transform of the window function is obtained analytically. Computation of the Fourier transform shows a slight improvement over the Kaiser-Bessel window for suitable choice of parameters. The proposed function involves a simpler and faster computational method than that of the Kaiser-Bessel window.

Abstract

This paper presents a set of windows, called sum-cosine windows, whose first side-lobe level varies from −39-30 to − 67-66dB, while the peak sidelobe offers −39-30 to − 6312dB attenuation. The asymptotic decay rate of the sidelobe envelope ranges from 12dB per octave to 36dB per octave. However, the main-lobe width of these windows falls in between Hamming and Blackman windows and Black-man windows and the optimum windows, proposed by Harris and Nuttall. The distinct advantage of these windows is their simple form, resulting in easy implementation, compared to the near-optimum windows proposed by Kaiser.

Abstract

An analogue window function circuit is realized by using switched-capacitor techniques. In order to verify the effect of this window, a novel switched-capacitor analogue discrete Fourier analyser is proposed. The window function circuit is included in this analyser as the ratios of capacitances. This switched-capacitor discrete Fourier analyser is very simple in construction, namely, only two elemental circuits based on the integral feedback capacitance circuit are connected in series. Agreement between the experimental and the theoretical values is confirmed.
