The current study describes the characterization and vibrational spectra (elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1H NMR and UV–Visible absorption) of 2-Methyl-quinoxaline (2-MQ) and synthesized [Ag(2-Methyl-quinoxaline)(NO 3)]. The experimental investigation is supported by theoretical calculations at the DFT level. The frontier molecular orbitals (HOMO and LUMO), the global reactivity descriptors, MEP, and thermodynamic analysis are also computed to investigate the reactivity of the ligand and the complex. The intermolecular interactions in the title compound were analyzed by topological AIM and RDG approaches. The chemical structure of the ligand and its Ag(I) complex were elucidated by the ELF analysis. In addition, a molecular docking study was implemented to look into the studied compounds for their antibacterial activity. According to the molecular docking study used to evaluate the inhibitory effect on target proteins for antimicrobial drugs, the metal complex has a greater binding affinity than the free ligand. These compounds might thus be effective antibacterial candidates. Thus, antimicrobial studies have been performed with 2-MQ and Ag(I) complex against various Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The 2-MQ proved to be the most active compound in this study and showed the highest antimicrobial activity against S. aureus ATCC 29213, B. cereus 709 Roma, V. anguillarum ATCC 43312 and C. albicans ATCC 90028. Abstract: A novel tetranuclear silver(I) heterocyclic cluster, which is of nano-hole structure, based on 1,1′-bis[(2-hydroxybenzylidene)thiocarbonohydrazono-1-ethyl] ferrocene (FcL) has been prepared and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffractions. Abstract: Two silvers(I) supramolecular isomers {[Ag(bbta)(NO3)]·H2O} n (1), and [Ag(bbta)(NO3)]2 (2) have been synthesized in the different solvent systems by using the flexible ligand 1,2-bis(benzotriazol-1-yl)ethane (bbta). 1 forms novel one-dimensional concavo-convex chain. However, 2 contains the neutral dimer Ag2(bbta)2 18-membered metallacycle. The bbta ligands exhibit the anti and gauche conformations in 1 and 2, respectively. 1 and 2 are both the topological isomers and conformation isomers. The luminescent spectra of 1 and 2 in the solid state and in DMF solution at room temperature were determined. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

The sulfide anion is a corrosive, toxic and harmful compound found in a wide range of anoxic environments. Metal-based complexes have been used as luminescent probes for sulfide determination. However, their synthesis usually involves laborious procedures and the use of toxic reagents. In this paper, we describe the synthesis, characterization and application of a new, sensitive and selective silver complex probe for sulfide detection. The process of sulfide determination is based on rapid reaction in aqueous/methanolic media between the silver (I) complex and sulfide leading to an increase in fluorescence intensity. Analytical performance has been studied in the concentration range of 190 to 950 nmol L − 1 of sulfide with suitable linearity, and the limit of detection was calculated to be (3σ/S) to 20 nmol L − 1 . The probe's selectivity to S 2 − was evaluated over other competing anions showing excellent results and its reversibility was demonstrated upon addition of AgCF 3 SO 3 . [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: The self-assembly reaction of the flexible ligand 1,2-bis(1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)ethane (btre) and AgClO4 gives a novel coordination polymer {[Ag(btre)](ClO4)} n (1). Adjacent two silver(I) atoms are linked through four nitrogen atoms of two N1/N2 atoms of two btre ligands and form Ag2N4 6-membered rings and construct a one-dimensional chain. The chains extend through btre bridges in four different directions alternatively to construct a novel three-dimensional network. Compound 1 exhibits luminescence emission maxima at 326nm upon excitation at 260nm in the solid state at room temperature. The anion exchange of compound 1 with BF4 − and NO3 − occurs smoothly in a typical aqueous media. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

abstract: A novel one-dimensional silver(I) complex, derived from 2-hydroxypyridine with Ag2O in an ammonia solution, have been prepared and structurally characterized. Each Ag atom in the complex is three-coordinate in a T-shaped geometry with two phenolate O atoms and one pyridine N atom. Adjacent Ag atoms are linked by Ag–Ag interactions, forming an Ag4 unit. The Ag4 units are further linked by four phenolate O atoms, forming a one-dimensional chain running along the c axis. The fluorescence of the complex has been studied. The preparation and X-ray crystal structure of tetrakis(pyrazol-1-ylmethyl)methane are described. This new ligand reacts with silver(I) nitrate to give a M2L2 complex, in which the ligand bridges two trigonal silver atoms with bidentate and monodentate coordination domains.
