Abstract

International audience; The development of cost-effective, high-performance, and robust bifunctional electrocatalysts for overall water splitting remains highly desirable yet quite challenging. Here, by selecting appreciate precursors of dopamine and a Co-containing metal-organic framework of ZIF-67, we subtly couple their reaction processes to develop a facile approach for the synthesis of a hollow CoP nanostructure with N-doped carbon skeleton (H-CoP@NC). Benefiting from the highly porous nanostructure and conductive carbon skeleton, H-CoP@NC is capable of working as highly active and durable bifunctional electrocatalyst for both hydrogen and oxygen evolution reaction. When further used as the electrocatalyst for overall water splitting, H-CoP@NC delivers excellent activity (cell voltage of 1.72 V at a current density of 10 mA cm(-2)), close to that of the noble-metal-based benchmark catalyst couple of Pt/C parallel to RuO2. Our work thus provides new insights into the development of transitional metal phosphides based hollow hybrid nanostructures, particularly those with multiple functionalities in sustainable energy conversion technologies and systems.

Abstract

International audience; A mononuclear ikon(II) complex has been isolated in two polymorphs. Polymorph 1b remains high-spin over all temperatures, whereas polymorph 1a undergoes a cooperative two-Step spin crossover accompanied by symmetry breaking, showing an ordered 2:1 high-spin low-spin intermediate phase.

Abstract

International audience; Fluorescence imaging is a powerful tool in biomedical research. It has been frequently used to uncover or better understand physiological mechanisms in disease-related processes such as cancer. The majority of chromophores used for imaging are based on a 4,4-difluoro-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacene (BODIPY) scaffold. However, their applications are limited due to their poor water solubility as well as poor cancer cell selectivity. To circumvent these drawbacks, we present herein the use of bis(dipyrrinato)zinc(II) complexes. As this class of compounds is associated with a quenching effect of the excited state in water, the lead compound of this study (3) was encapsulated in a polymer matrix with biotin as a targeting moiety (3-NP). This encapsulation improved the water solubility, overcame the quenching effects in water, as well as allowed selective accumulation in the lysosomes with a bright fluorescence signal in monolayer cells as well as 3D multicellular tumor spheroids (MCTS). As a benefit from the biotin targeting moiety, the nanoparticles were majorly taken up by the sodium dependent multivitamin transporter (SMVT) which is overexpressed in various cancers cells and selectively accumulated in cancerous cells over noncancerous cells.
