Abstract

Molybdenum and tungsten d(super 3)-d(super 3) dimers bridges by three bis(alkylamido)phenylborane ligands are prepared. The consequences of the eclipsed geometry and short metal-metal bond on the electronic structure and reactivity of the compounds are discussed.

Research has been conducted on the cofacial bisporphyrins which are anchored bydibenzofuran and xanthene pillars. The structure, spectroscopy and oxygen atom-transfer reactivity of these bisporphyrins have been investigated and the results are reported.

Abstract

Binding studies establish that the DPD (diporphyrin dibenzofuran) system provides a Pacman pocket, which effectively binds substrates with a significantly reduced entropic penalty. Crystallographic studies establish that DPD furnishes a cofacial system with vertical flexibility and horizontal preorganization.
