This article highlights the 1989 conference of EUSIDIC, the European Association of Information Services, held from October 16-19, 1989 in Italy. Some 175 information producers and users gathered at the conference. The conference carried the theme Towards 1993--Piccolo Mondo. A small world it is indeed, as practically every country in western Europe was represented at the conference, although few of the papers presented actually addressed the small world theme. Marino Saksida, in his talk entitled the Business of Online Information: Relationship Between Pricing Methods, Market Size, and Market Penetration, said that online information has ceased long ago to be an experiment and that market awareness has developed to a point where the pricing methods currently employed are a serious obstacle to further market penetration.
