This research work assessed the consequences of job stress among library staff in selected polytechnic libraries of North-central Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive survey design the study used purposive sampling to select three polytechnic libraries in the zone. The study also used structured questionnaire as the instrument for data collection. One hundred and thirty eight (138) copies of questionnaire were distributed to the respondent and one hundred and twenty four (124) of them returned. This represented a return rate of ninety percent (%). The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics o frequency tables and means scores. And the decision rule in the analysis was based on the value of the criterion means of 2.5; where an item means score above or equal to the criterion means where adopted and otherwise rejected. In addition, the findings of the study revealed thatJob stress had the following consequences on the polytechnic library staff in the zone; low productivity and turn over, lack of skill development, decrease in work pay and production, absenteeism, lack of proper presentation of work done, sleep issues, health deterioration, depression and tiredness, functional inconsistency and job dissatisfaction and so on and so forth. The study examined the challenges of implementing Koha integrated library management system in state polytechnic libraries for effective service delivery in North Central, Nigeria. Four research questions guided the study. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study is 108 library staff of the six state polytechnic libraries in North Central, Nigeria. Data collected were analyzed using frequency distribution table, chart, percentage and mean with the aid of SPSS version 23. The findings revealed that, there is poor implementation of Koha integrated library management system for library operations in the libraries studied. As few of the libraries implemented koha for online cataloguing and classification functions. The level of satisfaction derived from implementing Koha integrated library management system for library operations is low. This might be due to the poor implementation. It was also revealed among other things that, erratic power supply, low internet bandwidth, inadequate telecommunication infrastructures, lack of funding, lack of adequate training before installation of the software, hardware breakdown, lack of proper feasibility study, lack of technical skills among librarians (installation & customization),technophobia are the major challenges associated with implementing koha in the libraries studied. The study recommended that, Any library that desire to implement Koha should first of all carry out a comprehensive feasibility study to ascertain the readiness to implement koha. The library management should train their staff on the skills required to operate and maintain koha system in the library. The study focused on Utilization of Electronic books (e-books) by Higher National Diploma (HND) students in Nigerian library school using the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria as case study. The survey method of research was adopted for the study with the questionnaire as the major instrument for data collection and the data collected were analyzed using simple frequency tables and percentage. Findings show that utilization of e-books is becoming popular among Higher National Diploma students in Nigerian library school because of the inherent advantages associated with it. In spite of the limitations to effective utilization of e-books, it is recommended that students in higher institutions in Nigeria should be encourage to be ICT compliant so as to enable them take advantage of the benefits associated with electronic books since it can be accessed any time irrespective of location. Dwindling literacy rate and falling education standard have gained unprecedented attention of the public in the last decade. This paper discussed the roles of The Polytechnic Ibadan in the academic growth and development of the nation through bring back book culture and effective utilization of library. The main objective of this study is to find out the linkage between students performance at the National Diploma level and public outcry of poor educational standard. In this study One Hundreds and Twelve library users that were found in the Saki Campus library at the last examination period were considered. The instrument of study was administration of questionnaire which was designed to elicit information from respondents. The questionnaire deals with attitude to academic work. A look at students/ candidates performance between 2006 and 2008 in West African Examination Council WAEC result is highly disturbing as the average justification of poorest standard in education. The result of last three years ND programme at Saki showed that the science, based courses lead the distinction as shown in this order: Science Laboratory Technology 7, and Agricultural Engineering 4 making 11 out of 21 distinctions. It can therefore be safely concluded that the Polytechnic, Ibadan is performing all the academic function assigned to it, because the public outcry on falling academic standard is not a generalized fact as the institution can lay claim to 69.79 percent academic excellence in the last three years.
