The term "sustainable development" refers to the developmental activity undertaken to achieve the present generation needs without compromising with the needs of up-coming generation. Sustainable development ensures the well-being of individual by integrating social development, economic growth, and environmental conservation and protection. The over population, wide spread inequality, acute poverty, a great shortage of safe drinking water, limitless consumption of energy, endless deforestation is the great challenges before the idea of sustainable development. The present paper is an evidence based paper based on the secondary data collected from research journals, books, magazines and concerned websites. The aim of the paper is to focus on the strategies for sustainable development and the social work approach for achieving the sustainable development in the present and the future society. Through devising the strategies for sustainable development this paper tries to build an interrelationship between the present and the future generation, to attain the sustainable development following probable strategies can be useful-giving importance to input efficient technology, using environmental friendly source of energy, promoting more and more renewable source of energy, developing organic farming, promoting waste recycling, more than all this taking an pledge of conserving the natural resources for the younger generations of tomorrow's world. Energy is the solution to all problems in the world. It helps in human development to economic development of any region, state or country. Access to energy is a common problem in today's era. Access to energy can help in brining prosperity to earning livelihood. This paper consists of two sections. The first section focuses on a sustainable energy service model where a Digital Service Centre (DSC) was set up in rural areas of South Odisha. It helped in changing the life of a rural youth. Similarly, the second section focuses on designing and developing a solar dryer which was used by fisherwomen for earning their livelihood in the rural areas of South Odisha. Design/Methodology/Approach - In the current research, a descriptive case method was used and cases were selected in a purposive manner. Data was collected for understanding the theoretical concepts of actors, factors and linkages among them and developing the conceptual framework. An action research method (of partial intervention in the ecosystem for applicability of the framework) has been undertaken. Findings - Various actors and factors were found out and their linkages were established among them. Originality/Value - A novel approach of clean energy intervention for income generation, a sense of entrepreneurial mindset was developed and an enabling environment for intervention of clean energy products and services in rural areas was created. Life amidst conflict is convoluted. In the riot hit area of Muzaffarnagar (in 2013) a huge population from a religious community had to live in camps. For more than 8 months, people lived in camps in the search of peace and justice, far from education for children, possible livelihood opportunity and a healthy environment. Similarly, in the forests of Dandakaranya is a village which is primarily inhabited by surrendered left wing extremists, life there is harsh. The SDG 16 is dedicated to the promotion of peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, the provision of access to justice for all, and building effective, accountable institutions at all levels. The HDR 1996 says - "human development is the end--economic growth a means". We need to understand the concept of development diligently adding sustainability as an essential. This paper attempts to understand the current state of peace and inclusion in conflict areas of Left Wing Extremism in MP and CH, riot affected areas of Muzaffarnagar in UP and areas of forced displacement and rehabilitation in MP and UK. India has recently been witnessing a growing incidence of urban poverty. The forces of liberalization and globalization have accelerated the pace of economic growth coupled with exclusionary process of urbanisation and resultant increase in the absolute number of urban poor. The urban poverty is a complex and multi-dimensional phenomenon. It is not just lack of income to buy minimum amount of food calories, it rather reflects inadequate provision of education, sanitation, housing, water supply and health care facilities to be delivered by the urban management system. The purpose of the study is to discuss the latest trends, nature and constitution of urban poverty. The study also highlights the severity and magnitude of the urban poverty and analyses the causes of its rise at alarming proportions.
