Reporters sans Frontieres, an organization supporting press freedom, has successfully implemented its adoption scheme introduced in 1989, whereby imprisoned journalists are affiliated to media organizations to prevent them from attaining anonymity. In 1994, the organization successfully fought for the cases of noted media persona such as Burma's Nay Min, China's Wu Shishen, Iran's Manouchehr Karimzadeh and Tajikistan's Ahmad Shah Kamil, who were arrested for political violations.
