A multipurpose system for detecting heavy ions has been made at the Laboratorio Nazionale del Sud. It consists of a multianode ionization chamber coupled to a time-of-flight spectrometer whose start and stop signals are given by a microchannel plate and a parallel-plate avalanche counter, respectively. This system allows us to identify the charge and the mass of evaporation residues up to Z≅30 and A≅50 values, when their energy is around 1 MeV/ A. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Recent fusion cross-section data for the reactionH(d, n)HeH(d, p)H are compared with the predictions of the, «extended elastic model II». A comparison with cluster-impact fusion results is also given. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
