Although the concept of Cyber Intelligent Enteprise is largely based on Cyber Physical Systems (CPS), research in adjacent fields, like Internet of Things (IoT), is also important as it provides a valuable set of system architectures and integration techniques. The current socio-economic context provides the perfect opportunity for the development of a new breed of enterprise system architecture – Cyber Intelligent Enterprise. In order to design a generic architecture for Cyber Intelligent Enterprise system we introduce the concept of Intelligent Entity. Based on the generic architecture presented in the previous section, we propose an implementation for the “Integration Layer”.

The integration of Web-Services, smart agents and “smart objects” enables enterprise innovation and competitiveness in a globalized economy. The paper proposes a multi view modelling framework that enables enterprises to develop context-awareness and to achieve sustainable interoperability.

Traditional companies have transformed their approaches under the impact of globalization, competition, information technology and the Internet. They integrate into a volatile network of collaborating business – the business value network that has become increasingly important in the world's economy of the future. Their appropriate IT support must efficiently realize business collaborations and interactions between globally spread organizations. This paper presents the impact of serious games ecosystems on Future Internet Enterprise Systems (FInES) and discusses interoperability***based perspectives that aim to increase efficiency and performance.

Emerging technologies along with market demand for product customization are driving the manufacturing sector towards innovation. Manufacturing systems should benefit from these new technologies in order to maintain their competitiveness on the marketplace and increase their profitability. Integration of the business rules with the e-shop floor could be facilitated by the composition of web services that automate a business process. There is a need for a new quality approach that takes into account key factors such as interoperability and adaptability at all levels of an e-manufacturing system. We propose a quality driven modeling framework that addresses fundamental requirements of service based manufacturing systems: interoperability, adaptability, security, performance and manageability.

Based on studies developed in Knowledge Management Department from University of Vienna and Human Resources Training Center from University Politehnica Bucharest, the present paper describes some important concepts and methods which are important for modeling and controlling the business as a system. New product development processes are based on creative business processes. They consist of a project level where the coordination of different business processes lakes place. The business process management can be supported by Information Processing & Electronic Communication tool cases. The sub-processes must be bound together, coordinated and their execution has to be controlled. A new modeling concept, architecture and an efficient implementation should aid managers to select the optimum solution in an efficient manner. Furthermore this paper provides a method for assessment and improvement of the business processes.

In this context the development of new Internet related concepts and technologies oriented towards providing positive benefits for economy has been included in a broad concept of “Future Internet Based Enterprise Systems”. The Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS) paradigms, are leading our Information Society towards New Economy-driven Knowledge Society copying with Global e-Markets new list of System of Systems requirements. Efficient interoperability, both horizontal and vertical, is a basic requirement towards the aim of Enterprise System Integration within Collaborative Concurrent Competitive Enterprises. In this context, the authors will propose a framework for web service composition and knowledge extraction form process execution based on process description embedded in Internet of Things compliant intelligent objects.

One of the paradigms proposed in this area is the “Internet of Things”. The future of the manufacturing oriented knowledge management that use the concept of Internet of Things will be characterized by emerging intelligence that could be obtained by a future enterprise from the information detained by its components, contextualized for reflecting a given situation.

The paper is concerning with some preliminary results of our investigation aiming at the new conceptual design methodology of Complex Contextual Systems (CCS). A three dimension modeling framework is proposed. The correlated information ontology involves: Socio-organizational systems (View 1) / global economic systems (View 2) and, respectively, Political / societal systems (View 3) is proposed to sustain our approach to fueling globalization through Intelligent Future Internet enabling Enterprise Systems development (FInES). An ICT-FP7 project proposal, so-called LEVERAGE is briefly presented in order to implement the primary function of governing and policy modeling within Complex Contextual Systems conceptual design.

The rapid increasing global systems complexity within the Knowledge Based Economy, the driver for the new coming Knowledge Society, provides “great challenges” to be undertaken within the innovative thinking in diversity. The author's goal within the present paper is to conceptualize the skills formation using a Knowledge Society paradigm approach to ensure efficient synchronization between the Adaptive Virtual Organization and Knowledge Management concepts by identifying a set of common activities performed with the aim of assisting the Adaptive Virtual Organization in meeting the going demand for knowledge of today's global economy. Therefore the need for implementing a Learning Organization concept as to offer the needed support within the Enterprise Information System Supply Chain Management becomes a great necessity.

To face the great six challenges, that has been identified during last two workshops on Intelligent Manufacturing System, Filos et al., (2007) a synergetical complex multidisciplinary research program is a must to aim at well balancing the plethora of paradigms, methodology software products, a.s.o. The present paper main concerns with developing an appropriate IMS synthesis methodology, based on sound concepts of General Systems Theory. To sustain a “grand unification”, the 4–dimensions perspective: Discrete Event Dynamical Systems representation, Intelligent Information Systems representation, Collaborative Production and Advanced Control Systems representation, and Business Informatics System representation. Finally, a 3 phases Top-Down/ Bottom-up / Cross services approach services methodology applied for developing a complex IMS universitary pilot within University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest campus is briefly described.

The American Institute of Industrial Engineering formulated in 1955 the following paradigm for Manufacturing Systems: conceptual and detailed design, as well as socio- technologic- economic systems including heterogeneous resources (human, financial, technologies, capital, energy resources). During the last five decades many paradigm shifts have been identified. The paper is focused on the current achievements sustaining the time of convergence for different recent paradigm shifts. The authors do believe that Intelligent Autonomous Manufacturing Systems should be an appropriate purpose within global digital eve.

The paper will present an approach for the design of an interoperable knowledge management architecture that brings together concepts from agent-based control engineering and discrete event & hybrid modeling. The main goal of this architecture is to ensure knowledge interoperability for networks of organizations, transcending the ontological view.

Despite the well-defined scientific boundaries of Modeling, Control, Production and Logistics complex domain of research, the present paper aims to extend by a cross-domain subject to be solved within “Environment to Health” extended “enterprise” the semantic deep meaning of enterprise is concerned with the new idea for e-business oriented collaborative network. A Romanian Education & Research Ministry project has been launched since the 2 nd of October 2007. The preliminary results to design, develop and implement a complex adaptive metasystem within the Environment-Health paradigm are discussed synthetically. This paper presents a clinical diagnosis support system which combines the advantages of Dempster-Shafer theory with Bayesian networks in order to simulate the uncertain medical reasoning. We propose a hierarchical structure using Dempster-Shafer at the upper level for evaluating more general hypothesis (disease groups) and Bayesian networks at the lower level for a more accurate analysis of specific diseases.

The paper is aiming to introduce a new discrete event system (DES) based design methodology for Work Flow Management Systems (WFMS). A hybrid methodology based on three formal technologies (Petri Nets, automata and queuing systems) is proposed for modeling, analysis and design of WFMS. A particular case is concerned with avoiding the blocking situation, caused by the inadequate data flow control. In this respect, a predictive control design method is proposed, addressing the controller level, which is embedded in the decision support system.

The paper presents a methodology for the synthesis of a supervisor based on a Petri Net model. This supervisor is used for the real-time control of a Flexible Manufacturing System by a two layer agent-based architecture. The structure and functioning of the architecture as well as the FMS modeling approach are also described in the paper. The synthesis methodology was implemented into a software application, which was used on a case study.

This paper aims to present a monitoring methodology for desynchronizing dysfunctions in the flexible manufacturing systems. The desynchronizing dysfunctions are described as predictable situations, possibly leading to blocking and being caused by a special type of disturbances - temporal modeling uncertainties. The representation formalism is timed discrete event systems, and the chosen modeling and analysis tools are T-temporal Petri Nets and timed automata

The paper presents a hybrid control architecture that combines the distributed hierarchical control and the autonomous agents based control concepts. The aim of this approach is to obtain a control system capable of an optimal functioning in normal conditions and robust at perturbations. The optimal control policies are off-line synthesized by a higher hierarchical layer (called supervisor) based on a discrete event model of the process and on the DES supervision theory. The robustness is ensured by the lower hierarchical level, functioning in an agent based mode

This paper aims mainly to define a real-time, modular, reliable, open, dynamically re-configurable controUsupervision architecture, as a derivation of the holonic architecture. The proposed architecture is characterized also by a high degree of robustness regarding the component faults and possible modeling uncertainties. The new features introduced with regards to a "classical" holarchy are the supervisory level and the "monitor"- type holon. The DES formalism - in a Petri net representation - is used for the synthesis and the assessment of the supervisory policies.

The new manufacturing paradigms. starting with agile manufacture and lean production is loading our civilization towards the new generation of concurrent enterprises involving virtual enterprise architecture and concurrent engineering extended methodology. The present paper aims to identify the impact of these new concepts on the socio-economical life and to underline the role of open universities in the formation of virtual enterprise-oriented specialists.

The paper presents a supervisory structure for manufacturing systems. Starting from the classic control theory in considering the attributions of the supervisor, the particular tasks for supervising a manufacturing system are listed. As a consequence, the structure of the supervisory system is deduced as being intelligent, hierarchic and distributed. Procedures for the supervisory task accomplishment are given.

The paper is dealing with a new approach for the integration of Petri Nets based simulator within a three level hierarchical software system to design the low-cost computer-aided planning of flexible manufacturing systems. This unconventional method is compared with the SIMAN language based mathod. The basic simulation procedure is presented as a two playersevents/actionsPetri Nets modelling game.

The paper is dealing with the problem of higher education multidisciplinary program within Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems topics (CIM.S). Its maincontributions are concerned with a particular educational environment design. Two principal issues are discussed: structuring the curriculum on the basis of Concepts-Tree Analysis (CTA)and developing the advanced management of educational resources.

A new system configuration of a pneumatic actuator is presented. An electropneumatic four-way-spool valve + double acted piston servomotor is controlled by a special designed compensator. By using a proper local linearization and an improved choice of the state variables of the controlled pneumatic subsystem, the synthesis of a compensator is solved as a problem of the poles allocation and structural stability. To prove the system compatibility, meaning the robust control in spite of the nonlinear influence of the pneumatic actuator, a simulation program is successfully developed. An significant improvement of the actuator dynamics with respect to the disturbance rejection is reported and the replacement of conventional positioner becomes possible.
