In this paper, a traction motor for maximum power 76kW electrical vehicle (EV) was designed, and the design results were verified through experiments. One of the important design objectives of the traction motor for EV is to improve energy efficiency. The energy efficiency of a traction motor affects the mileage of electric vehicles (EVs). Among the design factors influencing energy efficiency, shape parameters include torque per rotor volume (TRV), torque density (TD) and shape ratio (SR). These shape parameters have an impact on the motor's phase back EMF, inductance, winding resistance and core loss resistance, eventually affecting the energy efficiency in the entire operating range of the motor. In this paper, a New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) was applied to calculate the energy efficiency of the traction motor for EV. Changes in motor parameters such as phase back electromotive force (EMF), inductance, winding resistance and core loss resistance were identified according to variations in shape parameters. In addition, the motor characteristics according to the changes of these parameters were confirmed, and shape parameters to improve energy efficiency were selected. Since the traction motor designed in this paper adopted a water cooling method, thermal analysis was performed by reflecting the water cooling method in the thermal equivalent circuit (TEC). In order to confirm the reliability of the analysis method and design, a load test was conducted on the entire operating range to calculate energy efficiency, and a temperature test was performed to compare the test results with the analysis results. This paper examines the problem of predictive gear scheduling for fuel consumption minimization in connected/automated heavy trucks. The literature highlights the fuel economy benefits of such predictive scheduling, but there is a need to optimize such scheduling online, in real time. To address this need, we begin by using dynamic programming (DP) to schedule gear shifting offline, in a manner that achieves a globally optimal Pareto tradeoff between the conflicting objectives of minimizing fuel consumption and shift frequency. The computational cost of DP is unfavorable for online implementation, but we present two algorithms addressing this challenge. Both algorithms rely on the fact that in the Pareto limit where fuel consumption minimization is the sole objective, DP furnishes a simple static shift map. Our first algorithm trains a recurrent neural network to prune the shift schedule generated by this map. The second algorithm performs this pruning in a direct manner tailored to reduce the schedule's rain flow count. We simulate these algorithms for different drive cycles. Both algorithms achieve a reasonable tradeoff between fuel consumption and gear shift frequency. In this paper, we explore the different per-user bandwidths available for each tier of heterogeneous networks (HetNets) and the corresponding downlink range expansion (RE, a key measure to boost small cell association). Based on the practical case of tier-specific path loss exponents, we derive the local delay of HetNets under the random discontinuous transmission scheme (DTX, employed to manage the interference and reduce energy consumption). Using such a new expression for local delay, we then analyze the corresponding energy efficiency (EE). These delay and EE expressions reveal that there exists an optimal value for both the RE bias factor and for the DTX mute probability. The heterogeneous fog radio access networks (Fog-RAN), the integration of fog computing, and traditional heterogeneous radio access networks can be implemented through the next-generation wireless communication networks. However, most of the solutions are limited to the spectrum efficiency optimization, and cross-tier interference existing in the fog access points (F-APs) could affect the network performance seriously. In this paper, the user association, resource allocation (including bandwidth and power), and caching deployment are investigated in the heterogeneous Fog-RAN to consider energy efficiency and cross-tier interference mitigation. Specifically, the user association, resource allocation, and caching strategy are formulated as a non-convex optimization problem and then transformed into a convex problem, which can be solved by a proposed algorithm based on the concept of the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM). Then an ADMM-based algorithm is proposed to enhance the energy efficiency of the Fog-RAN. This paper presents a self-learning strategy to control the deactivation of cylinders in large displacement automotive engines. Cylinder deactivation is a useful strategy to reduce emissions and improve fuel consumption without limiting the maximum engine power. A cylinder deactivation algorithm has to balance the target of reducing emissions with drivability concerns. Changing the cylinder configuration at the wrong time or too often negatively affects drivability and fuel efficiency. The paper proposes a self-learning algorithm inspired by the Markov Chain formalism. The proposed algorithm predicts the future fuel consumption and determines the best cylinder configuration based on that prediction. The prediction algorithm is learnt online using past inputs and thus adapts to the specific driver and conditions. Two versions of the algorithm are proposed that use two different inputs. The approaches are validated in simulation on an engine test-bed, showing that the self-learning algorithm yields fuel savings up to 10% without affecting drivability in the New European Driving Cycle. Even if massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) can theoretically bring huge benefits, it incurs substantial hardware complexity and expensive hardware costs. To address these issues while maintaining the system performance simultaneously, we develop an asymmetrical transceiver architecture for massive MIMO systems in this paper by releasing the shackles on radio frequency (RF) chains. Specifically, we first develop the architecture for the asymmetrical transceiver where the number of receive RF chains is different from that of the transmit RF chains. Due to this unequal number of RF chains, channel inconsistency appears. To overcome the channel inconsistency and thus fully harness the system's downlink data transmission capability, we propose two uplink-to-downlink channel transfer algorithms. The cost and power consumption models for the asymmetrical transceiver are also developed and the uplink signal-to-noise loss due to the channel inconsistency is investigated. Through analyzing system spectral, cost, and energy efficiency, we demonstrate that the proposed asymmetrical transceiver-based massive MIMO system can achieve excellent downlink spectral efficiency while maintaining a reasonable energy efficiency. While the vehicular network enables geographically distributed cooperative computation, its mature implementation has long been constrained due to the lack of an effective management platform. In this paper, employing the security and privacy attributes of blockchain, we propose a novel Blockchain-enabled Large-scale Parked Vehicular Computing (BLPVC) architecture to utilize the potential solar energy and vehicular computational resources in the outdoor parking lot. However, the uneven green power supply and random arrival time of electric vehicles compose the highly complex environment. Accordingly, in this paper, to handle the efficient utilization of the distributed resources by blockchain technology, we propose an integrated optimization framework which leverages the green energy utilization and service latency limit among the processes of block generation, task computing, and communication, whereas such a design leads to the mixed-timescale stochastic optimization problem. To this end, corresponding to the dynamic solar energy arrival, we propose a shaped deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG) algorithm to accelerate the learning rate of computational frequency control in the short-term stage; while in the long-term stage, for the mixed-integer programming (MIP) of task offloading and blockchain parameters adjustment, a series of transformation is employed to preserve convexity. Finally, experiments are carried out on Python demonstrating that the proposed scheme achieves a balanced performance between service latency and distributed resources, while the battery depreciation cost is heavily reduced. In this paper, we present a simple analytic method that can be used to predict potential energy depletion in off-grid wireless backbone network nodes serving mobile users. The instantaneous energy depletion of the batteries of the network nodes is determined by random energy arrivals and departures and modeled as a G/G/1 queue. To evaluate the online energy depletion probability (EDP), an integral-free asymptotic approach is typically used by assuming that the prediction horizon approaches infinity. However, in many practical cases, the time required by user connections can be rather short. This indicates the need for proactive resource management decisions over finite horizons so that the transmission opportunities with limited energy and time horizons are not wasted. Using Hölder's inequality, we obtain a novel finite-horizon upper bound for the EDP, and the result is compared with the infinite-horizon method. The accuracy of the proposed bound, which is addressed both analytically and numerically, proves to be better for shorter prediction horizons. The finite- and infinite-horizon methods are then applied for an energy provisioning admission control (EP-AC) framework using off-grid backbone network nodes. The key observation of this paper is that the proposed finite-horizon prediction approach admits significantly more users to the network when the connection times are relatively short, while retaining an integral-free closed-form structure suitable for the online evaluation of the EDP. Integrated satellite terrestrial networks and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) have been confirmed to be promising and effective approaches to achieve substantial performance gains for future wireless paradigms. This paper studies the effect of hardware impairments (HIs) on the secrecy performance of NOMA-based integrated satellite multiple-terrestrial relay networks (ISMTRNs). Particularly, we consider two important wiretapping cases: Case I, colluding case: all eavesdroppers cooperatively overhear the information; and Case II, non-colluding case: one eavesdropper with the best wiretapping quality is chosen to overhear the main channel information. Specially, the closed-form expressions for the secrecy outage probability (SOP) of the considered NOMA-based ISMTRNs in the presence of the above two eavesdropping cases and partial relay selection scheme are obtained. To obtain further insights in high signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) regime, the asymptotic analysis of SOP with two considered cases are also derived, which give efficient means to evaluate the benefit of NOMA scheme and the impacts of HIs on the SOP. Due to the problems of high bit error rate and delay, low bandwidth and limited energy of sensor nodes in underwater acoustic sensor network (UASN), it is particularly important to design a routing protocol with high reliability, strong robustness, low end-to-end delay and high energy efficiency which can flexibly be employed in dynamic network environment. Therefore, a reinforcement learning-based opportunistic routing protocol (RLOR) is proposed in this paper by combining the advantages of opportunistic routing and reinforcement learning algorithm. The RLOR is a kind of distributed routing approach, which comprehensively considers nodes’ peripheral status to select the appropriate relay nodes. Additionally, a recovery mechanism is employed in RLOR to enable the packets to bypass the void area efficiently and continue to forward, which improves the delivery rate of data in some sparse networks. The simulation results show that, compared with other representative underwater routing protocols, the proposed RLOR performs well in end-to-end delay, reliability, energy efficiency and other aspects in underwater dynamic network environments. 6G wireless networks have raised increasing attention with computation-sensitive services such as AI Internet of things (AIoT) and mobile augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR) applications. Mobile edge computing (MEC) provides rich computation resources for user equipments (UE) at the edge of networks. Aided by MEC servers, computation-intensive applications that are commonly modeled as Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAG) can be performed locally and offloaded to MEC servers to enhance execution efficiency. However, it is a key issue to efficiently provide low latency with limited energy. In this paper, we investigate a multiobjective task scheduling problem in MEC-aided 6G network. Then, an improved multiobjective cuckoo search (IMOCS) algorithm is proposed to deal with a DAG-based task scheduling problem, which aims to reduce the execution latency and energy consumption of UE. Particularly, the proposed IMOCS algorithm is based on the single-objective cuckoo search algorithm and Pareto dominance. An external archive is used to record nondominated solutions, whose update strategy improves the quality of solutions by the aid of fast nondominated sorting and crowding distance sorting. Simulation results demonstrate that IMOCS algorithm outperforms other four benchmark algorithms, which can provide optimal task scheduling policy for MEC severs in 6G networks. The aim of the paper is to define a limit performance of highly efficient battery electric quadricycles for urban mobility. The vehicle is employed for an energy efficiency competition in which urban concepts compete. A multi-physics (thermo-electro-mechanical) Tank To Wheels (TTW) model has been developed and validated. Given the information on the track route (track map and elevation) and on the throttle input command, the model computes the vehicle power demand and cruising speed. The model is validated by means of both indoor and outdoor experimental tests. The validated model is employed for the optimization of the transmission gear ratio and of the driving strategy to minimize the overall energy consumption on a given track. Design variables are related to the transmission gear ratio and to the throttle command profile. The algorithm aims to minimize the energy consumption, including constraints on the maximum current provided by the battery and on the maximum time available to complete the lap. Comparison with some common driving strategies confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed solution, with a foreseen 9% reduction of the vehicle overall energy demand. In this paper, we investigate a mobile edge computing (MEC) network, where the user has some computational tasks to be assisted by multiple computational access points (CAPs) through offloading. We consider practical communication scenarios with limited spectrum resources, and the cochannel interference arising from the aggressive reuse of frequency severely degrades the system offloading performance. To enhance the system performance, we provide three CAP selection criteria to choose one best CAP among multiple ones. Specifically, criterion I maximizes the computational capability at the CAP, criterion II minimizes the interfering power, while criterion III maximizes the instantaneous channel gain of data link. In time-varying channel environments, the CAP selection may be outdated, which deteriorates the system performance. For the three criteria, we evaluate the system outage probability in the outdated channel state information (CSI) by taking into account the latency, energy consumption and data rate, and provide the analytical and asymptotic expressions of outage probability, from which we obtain some critical insights on the system design. Simulation results are finally demonstrated to verify the proposed studies. In particular, criterion III under the perfect CSI can achieve the system whole diversity order coming from multiple CAPs. Computation offloading is an effective method in mobile edge computing (MEC) to relieve user equipment (UE) from the limited computation resource and battery capacity. Meanwhile, simultaneous wireless information and power transmission (SWIPT) can be applied to MEC to extend the operating time of the equipment. However, in multi-user network environment, diverse computation task requirements and changeable network channel states make it challenging to obtain offloading strategy timely and accurately. To address the issue, we propose an intelligent computation offloading scheme (iCOS) based on enhanced priority deep deterministic policy gradient (EPDDPG) algorithm to minimize the energy consumption of all the UEs by jointly optimizing the offloading decision, the central processing unit (CPU) frequency and the power split ratio in a dynamic SWIPT-MEC network. In particular, we improve the traditional fully-connected network structure to obtain both discrete and continuous action outputs, and accelerate neural network parameter updates by using prioritized experience tuples. Furthermore, we use dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) technology to dynamically adjust the CPU frequency of local computing, and employ SWIPT technology to balance the charging and communication according to the obtained strategy. This paper is concerned with the efficient movement control of multiple drone cells for communication coverage. Although many works have been developed to cope with this problem, but only few of them have investigated the three-dimensional (3-D) continuous movement control of multiple drone cells. In this paper, a problem of 3-D continuous movement control of multiple drone cells is formulated with an objective of maximizing the energy-efficient communication coverage of drone-cell networks while preserving the network connectivity. To mitigate this challenging problem, an energy-efficiency and continuous-movement-control algorithm (E $^2$ CMC), which is based on an emerging deep reinforcement learning method, is proposed. In E $^2$ CMC, an energy-efficiency reward function considering the energy consumption, the sum of quality-of-service (QoS) requirements of users as well as the coverage fairness is first designed. Next, E $^2$ CMC learns to adjust drone cells’ locations continuously by interacting with an environment in a sequence of observations, actions, and rewards. Furthermore, E $^2$ CMC will reduce the reward drastically as long as the networks are disconnected. With the recent developments of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), computing and communication have experienced huge advancement. Meanwhile, security has not received the same attention to go along with such developments. In this paper, we focus on the source location privacy problem in WSNs, a hot research topic in security, and propose a probabilistic source location privacy (PSLP) protection scheme for WSNs. A more powerful adversary, which can use hidden Markov model to estimate the state of the source, is considered in this study. To cope with this type of adversary, phantom nodes and fake sources, which are responsible to mimic the behavior of the source, are utilized to diversify the routing path. Then, the weight of each node is calculated as a criterion to select the next-hop candidate. In addition, two transmission modes are designed to transmit real packets. Energy efficiency aspects in cellular networks can contribute significantly to reducing worldwide greenhouse gas emissions. The base station (BS) sleeping strategy has become a well-known technique to achieve energy savings by switching off redundant BSs mainly for lightly loaded networks. Moreover, introducing renewable energy as an alternative power source has become a real challenge among network operators. In this paper, we formulate an optimization problem that aims to maximize the profit of Long-Term Evolution (LTE) cellular operators and to simultaneously minimize the \CO2 emissions in green wireless cellular networks without affecting the desired quality of service (QoS). The BS sleeping strategy lends itself to an interesting implementation using several heuristic approaches, such as the genetic (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithms. In this paper, we propose GA-based and PSO-based methods that reduce the energy consumption of BSs by not only shutting down underutilized BSs but by optimizing the amounts of energy procured from different retailers (renewable energy and electricity retailers), as well. Spectrum sensing is a prominent functionality to enable dynamic spectrum access (DSA) in cognitive radio (CR) networks. It provides protection to primary users (PUs) from interference and creates opportunities of spectrum access for secondary users (SUs). It should be performed efficiently to reduce the number of false alarms and missed detections. Continuous sensing for a long time incurs cost in terms of increased energy consumption; thus, spectrum sensing ought to be energy efficient to ensure the prolonged existence of CR devices. This paper focuses on using of history to help achieve energy-efficient spectrum sensing in infrastructure-based CR networks. The scheme employs an iteratively developed history processing database that is used by CRs to make decisions about spectrum sensing, subsequently resulting in reduced spectrum scanning and improved energy efficiency. Two conventional spectrum sensing schemes, i.e., energy detection (ED) and cyclostationary feature detection (CFD), are enriched by history to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. System-level simulations are performed to investigate the sensitivity of the proposed history-based scheme by performing detailed energy consumption analysis for the aforementioned schemes. Results demonstrate that the employment of history ensued in improved energy efficiency due to reduced spectrum scanning. In this paper, we consider energy usage in a three-node, two-way relay system with stochastic data arrivals and Gaussian channels. Specifically, we allow for a set of transmission modes, assuming a multiaccess uplink transmission with the relay as an optimal multiuser receiver, and find the optimal allocation of time and energy resources to the modes. In the downlink, we introduce three transmission strategies, namely, orthogonal transmission of a digital network-coded message and the remainder of the longer source message over time, superposition coding of the digital network-coded message and the remainder of the longer message, and superposition of the two source messages. We then minimize total energy usage subject to queue stability constraints at all nodes for a given pair of average packet arrival rates. The total energy usage of these three strategies in the downlink is compared, and it is found that it is best to use superposition of the network-coded message and the remaining bits in the downlink. To study stability, we present an analysis of the queues at each node under a random scheduling protocol that closely approximates the theoretical design through a Markov chain model. This paper considers a parallel hybrid electric truck where the tractive force delivered to the wheels can be provided by a conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) and/or a motor generator (MG). This hybrid truck is equipped with a clutch system that is capable of decoupling the ICE and the MG from the drivetrain to improve the fuel reduction performance, compared with a hybrid truck without a separate clutch for the MG. In the considered hybrid truck, the energy management strategy utilizes the battery to reduce the fuel consumption and the associated emissions. As the battery life is limited, the vehicle owner will suffer from extra costs for battery replacement. Henceforth, it is necessary to guarantee sufficient battery life. This paper develops a quasi-static battery cycle-life model and formulates a model-based integrated energy management (IEM) strategy. This IEM strategy optimizes the power split (between the ICE and the MG) and the operation of the clutch system to minimize the hybrid truck fuel consumption while guaranteeing the requested battery life. The problem of fuel minimization with battery life guarantee is analytically solved using optimal control theory. Mathematical and physical arguments are used to explain the compromise between fuel reduction and battery life preservation. Simulation results demonstrate that the IEM strategy will guarantee the requested battery life for different driving cycles while allowing appropriate hybrid powertrain operations for fuel minimization. The technical challenges, e.g. the mobility management and the offloading process, hinder the conventional cellular systems to meet the huge data traffic requirements of the next generation mobile communications. The traditional system (e.g dual-connectivity (DC)) has been proposed to improve the mobility management, however, it will inherit the big trade-off in the offloading process between the energy consumption for the small cell (SC) discovery (SCD) process and the efficiency of utilizing the system resources (e.g. frequency and signaling). In this paper, we present a framework to model the potential offloading opportunities as well as the offloading loss when a typical user equipment (UE) performs the inter-frequency (IRF) scan periodically. The proposed framework also studies the impact of the SCD on the energy efficiency. To improve the system performance and reduce the power consumption at the UEs, a new scheme, trio-connectivity (TC), is proposed in this paper to tackle the aforementioned challenges. The TC includes three planes: control-plane (C-plane), user-plane (U-plane) and indication-plane (I-plane). The I-plane works as an indicator to help the UE to identify and discover the SCs in the system prior to offloading. The role of the I-plane is to keep the SCD on one frequency channel regardless of the number of frequency channels in the system. In the proposed offloading mechanism, some of the energy consumption is transferred from the UE to the network. By using the proposed framework, UE energy efficiency and system energy efficiency as well as the total energy consumption are derived as performance metrics to compare between the TC and the DC. This paper addresses the design of a torque vectoring architecture to control the four electrical machines in a four-wheel-drive (4WD) formula-type competition vehicle. The scheme includes a new yaw-rate controller and a novel optimal torque distribution algorithm. Two yaw-rate controllers are proposed: one based on $\mathcal {H}_\infty$ optimal control and another based on linear parameter varying (LPV) system concepts. Both controllers are designed using an extended bicycle model validated with experimental data. Simulation results shown the effectiveness of the proposed overall control scheme in terms of energy efficiency, cornering speed and stability no matter the high-demanding working conditions. Such an effectiveness is quantitatively demonstrated by means of several key performance indicators chosen to ease the comparison of the proposed approach with respect to other reported works. Disguised tailing and visual monitoring of suspicious mobile targets is a promising application of security unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). But trajectory planning is non-trivial, especially for fixed-wing UAVs with more constrained maneuverability and dynamic models. This paper proposes a new framework to optimize collectively the propulsion power and the three-dimensional (3D) trajectory of a solar-powered, fixed-wing UAV on a disguised tailing and video surveillance mission. The multi-objective optimization strikes a balance between distance keeping, elevation variance, and power efficiency. A key aspect is that we develop a new propulsion power model of the fixed-wing UAV by analyzing the forces undergone while the UAV is ascending or descending. Another important aspect is a series of non-trivial reformulations, which convexify the multi-objective problem progressively with increasingly tightening linear approximation and solve the problem with a polynomial time-complexity. Our algorithm can control the trajectory of the UAV on-the-fly. Simulations confirm that the algorithm outperforms existing schemes in terms of visual disguise and power efficiency. The problem of sensor fault estimation has been studied for Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) systems in networked environment. Assuming that the process noise is related to the measurement noise and packet loss will occur during the measurement transmission. We use an event-trigger mechanism (ETM) to save communication resources. Accordingly, an observer is proposed to estimate the state and sensor fault, and the trigger threshold is associated with the correlation coefficient. By adjusting the threshold, the observer performance and energy consumption can be balanced in an ideal situation. The observer designed in this paper reduces the effects of correlation noises effectively and good handling network packet losses, and it has been proved that the expected covariance of the estimation error is bounded. To mitigate the impact of the dramatic growth of wireless video traffic and provide users with heterogeneous video services, a collaborative caching-transmission method in cache-enabled terahertz (THz) heterogeneous networks is studied in this paper. We propose a novel scalable video coding (SVC)-based two-tier cooperative caching strategy that can provide video services with different perceptual qualities. In addition, we propose a hierarchical hybrid transmission scheme where users obtain the requested layer files through the cooperative cellular multicast-D2D and THz transmissions. A base layer-based multicast group aggregation process is presented to improve resource utilization, while an efficient multicast transmission resource scheduling scheme can make better use of the spatial reusability. We derive the expressions for the average offloading capacity gain and average energy consumption, and formulate an efficiency function optimization problem. The problem is efficiently solved by the greedy strategy-gradient descent based caching solution and long tail distribution based heuristic caching solution. Simulation results validate the two solutions and demonstrate that the proposed caching-transmission method can achieve quasi-optimal performance compared with other contrasting schemes. Explorations on the Lunar Far-side Surface (LFS) have recently developed rapidly with various landers, cruisers, and orbital space vehicles. Research on relay satellites with Earth-Moon Libration Point (EMLP) orbits has aroused widespread interest in supporting these probe missions, i.e., “Queqiao” spacecraft, due to their particular relative positions in the Earth-Lunar system. For example, a Halo orbital relay satellite at the Earth-Moon L2 point can provide more transmission opportunities for communication nodes on LFS to the destination nodes on the Earth. However, a single Halo orbital spacecraft could not provide all-time connections for the cislunar communication with its limited coverage on the LFS. In this paper, we proposed a dual-relay Halo orbit constellation for the cislunar communication network, providing high-proportion coverage on the LFS at any time using an analytical method of the grid point. Based on the proposed constellation, we designed an energy efficiency-optimal relay selection algorithm for the nodes on the LFS to return data back to the Earth by solving a MIP (Mixed-Integer-Programming) problem with collaborative considerations of source and relay node’s power allocation. This paper addresses the traction control of All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) vehicle equipped with AWD Torque Management Unit (TMU), Traction Control System (TCS) and electronic Limited Slip Differential (eLSD). In the existing schemes, they are separately designed, ineffectiveness of control coupling exists, and the integration of them is time consuming and hard to achieve at a good driving performance such as good acceleration and high driving energy efficiency. To avoid such problems, a novel, effective and robust traction control platform is proposed. A decoupling method is adopted, which is achieved by presetting slip ratio thresholds and axle differential speed difference. State machines are designed according to preset high and low thresholds to select among integral increasing control, integral decreasing control, or keeping control. It has no vehicle parameters, no variants hard to measure, and no road identification. The design only counts tire slip ratios, wheel speeds and vehicle speed. So, it's one-platform-fits-all, including the vehicle designs, the road types, and so on. This design has been shown by results of high-fidelity simulations that the proposed design improves energy-economy, driving, handling and stability. In the past several years, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) have been employed to provide enhanced coverage or relay service to mobile users in a scenario with limited or even no infrastructure since they can be deployed to almost everywhere and can be manipulated at anytime. This paper studies UAV as aerial base station (BS) enabled wireless communication system, where a UAV is dispatched to provide wireless communication service to a set of ground users with difference quality-of-experience (QoE) requirements. In real world, user requirements are randomly and unevenly distributed. In addition, UAV communication coverage and on-board energy are limited and system resources are also limited (e.g., transmission power, spectrum). In order to meet the QoE of all users with limited system resources and limited UAV energy, we jointly optimize user communication scheduling, UAV trajectory, transmit power and bandwidth allocation to maximize energy-efficiency and satisfy user QoE requirement. The formulated problem is mixes integer non-convex and non-concave so it is difficult to solve. In this paper, we solvevv the problem with two steps as follows. Firstly, we transform the objective function into a tractable form. Secondly, we divide the optimal problem into four sub-optimal problems, and then use a powerful iterative algorithm with the Dinkelbach and block coordinate descent to solve the optimal problem. That is to say, the user scheduling, UAV trajectory, transmission power and bandwidth allocation are alternately optimized in each iteration. Extensive simulation results present that our proposed method can obtain higher energy efficiency than that of baselines. The time synchronization in vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) has gained significant attention in recent times. In this paper, we focus on the time synchronization in large-scale VANETs and propose an adaptive beacon time synchronization (ABTS) algorithm to enhance timing message synchronization. ABTS algorithm selects the best time synchronization pairs to decrease the number of timing messages transmitted. To guarantee the reliability of synchronization, the clock offset of the connected vehicles periodically readjust to provide a better degree of synchronization accuracy with minimum energy consumption. Based on two-way timing message synchronization, we derive maximum likelihood (ML) estimation and its equivalent Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB) for clock offset design in the generalized sender-to-receiver system by assuming a Gaussian noise model. We propose node pair selection algorithms to improve pairwise beacon message timing synchronization. The simulation results validate that our proposed ABTS algorithm performs better than other protocols in terms of synchronization accuracy, the rate of convergence and energy efficiency. This paper presents a novel method, advisory dynamic programming (AD-DP), for power management of a fuel cell hybrid vehicle (FCHEV). The presented method embraces a new understanding of vehicle states as driver-dependent and -independent states in time domain to define a suitable state space to be used for dynamic programming. Driver-dependent states are defined in terms of multiple characteristic parameters for vehicle speed and power demand, corporately. Driver-independent states are defined in terms of discrete values for supercapacitor's state of charge $SoC_{sc}$. Transition costs between all states in the state space are calculated offline and tabulated in look-up tables for online implementation. A state predictive model is developed based on the transition statistics of driver-dependent states for a suitable number of driving cycles. Backward calculation of the total transition cost for the predicted horizon in state space is used to define optimal power split strategy for the powertrain. The formulation of optimal control problem, in terms of situation-based solutions related to vehicle states, enables a significant reduction of computational steps and hence addresses the main challenge of real-time applications. The algorithm is adapted in terms of optimization horizon and number of discrete states for DIS to suit the real-time application. Experimental application of AD-DP, using an emulation test-rig, is conducted over different driving cycles. The obtained results reveal an improvement in energy efficiency up to 29% compared to the adaptive rule-based method. The contribution of this paper can be identified as: first, development of a corporate definition for vehicle states, that can be further implemented in optimization-based power management methods. In this paper, resource allocation for a multi-carrier uplink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system is studied. Unlike the existing works on multi-carrier uplink NOMA, in which each user is assumed to access only one subcarrier, we consider a more general scenario where the number of subcarriers allocated to a single user is not constrained. We first aim to maximize the system's sum rate, which requires selecting the appropriate subcarriers for each user and distribute the transmission power. The formulated non-convex problem is transformed into a convex one, and further, an optimal and low-complexity iterative water-filling solution is proposed. Nonetheless, it is shown that maximum transmit power is employed by each user to maximize the sum rate. Motivated by the fact that the users are power constrained, the energy efficiency (EE) maximization problem is also studied. Based on fractional programming, the EE maximization problem is transformed into a series of sum rate maximization subproblems, and the proposed iterative water-filling solution is applied to each subproblem. Providing femto access points (FAPs) with computational capabilities will allow (either total or partial) offloading of highly demanding applications from smartphones to the so-called femto-cloud. Such offloading promises to be beneficial in terms of battery savings at the mobile terminal (MT) and/or in latency reduction in the execution of applications. However, for this promise to become a reality, the energy and/or the time required for the communication process must be compensated by the energy and/or the time savings that result from the remote computation at the FAPs. For this problem, we provide in this paper a framework for the joint optimization of the radio and computational resource usage exploiting the tradeoff between energy consumption and latency. Multiple antennas are assumed to be available at the MT and the serving FAP. As a result of the optimization, the optimal communication strategy (e.g., transmission power, rate, and precoder) is obtained, as well as the optimal distribution of the computational load between the handset and the serving FAP. This paper deals with the problem of efficient resource allocation in dynamic infrastructureless wireless networks. In a reactive interference-limited scenario, at each transmission trial, every transmitter selects a frequency channel from some common pool, together with a power level. As a result, for all transmitters, not only the fading gain, but the number and the power of interfering transmissions as well, vary over time. Due to the absence of a central controller and time varying network characteristics, it is highly inefficient for transmitters to acquire the global channel and network knowledge. Therefore, given no information, each transmitter selfishly intends to maximize its average reward, which is a function of the channel quality, as well as the joint selection profile of all transmitters. This scenario is modeled as an adversarial multiplayer multiarmed bandit game, where players attempt to minimize their so-called regret, while, at the network side, achieving equilibrium in some sense. Based on this model and to solve the resource allocation problem, in this paper, we develop two joint power level and channel selection strategies. We prove that the gap between the average rewards achieved by our approaches and that based on the best fixed strategy converges to zero asymptotically. This paper addresses energy-efficient power control for time-division-duplexing (TDD) multiple-input–single-output (MISO) systems. Assuming ideal channel reciprocity, the beamforming at the transmitter (TX) is based on the estimated channel state information (CSI) obtained from the pilot signal of the receiver (RX). We define the energy efficiencies of the TX and the RX separately and study their energy efficiency region. In addition, we seek a power control scheme that can achieve all the points on the Pareto boundary of the energy efficiency region. We propose to maximize the weighted system energy efficiency, which is the data rate divided by the weighted sum of the power consumption at the TX and the RX. A method based on the quasi-concavity of the weighted system energy efficiency is developed to solve the problem. The Internet of Underwater Things (IoUT) gradually becomes the future direction of ocean. Many devices, which are called the sources, are deployed in the sea to fulfill scientific, civilian, and military needs. If the locations of these sources are leaked, it will cause a serious economic and military crisis. Thus, in this context, the source location privacy protection becomes critical. In this paper, we focus on the source location privacy protection of underwater acoustic sensor networks (UASNs), where a multi-channel interference based source location privacy protection scheme (MCISLP) is proposed. The MCISLP mainly contains four steps. First, to enhance the sense of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) for nodes, a noise reduction method is proposed. Then, based on the previous step, an AUV movement prediction method for nodes is presented to ensure the success of packet transmission. After that, for the information exchange among nodes, given the interference of multiple underwater channels, this interference is then utilized to protect the source location privacy. Further, to reduce the channel interference on the source packet, the time slot control is added to weaken the influence. Last, the ant colony algorithm is adopted for the data collection of AUV. The simulation results show that the MCISLP can increase the network safety time by up to 57 $\%$ (compared with data collection algorithms), and balance the energy consumption of nodes (for about 20 $\%$ energy saving), with a minor compromise of energy consumption of AUV and delay. Massive Machine-Type Communication (mMTC) is proposed by ITU to provide a large scale of connectivity services for billions of machine-type communications devices (MTCDs) via cellular networks. However, MTCDs are generally energy-constrained, security capability limited and short-packet transmission dominated. It has great challenges for massive MTCDs to perform short-packet transmission simultaneously while guaranteeing the confidentiality and energy efficiency of the information transmission. In this paper, we investigate the energy-efficient secure short-packet transmission of Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) assisted mMTC networks, in which MTCDs aim to transmit secrecy messages to the destination base station via trusted relays with a passive eavesdropper present. To realize secure, reliable and energy-efficient transmission, we maximize the secrecy energy efficiency (SEE) by implementing joint relay and power level selection. Furthermore, we formulate a decentralized stateless Q-learning-based multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) algorithm for the dynamic and complex mMTC systems. The simulation results show that adopting the proposed decentralized MARL algorithm and relaying with NOMA can improve the performance of SEE while reducing information exchange overhead. In this paper, empirical data obtained from the literature were used to develop models that capture the impact of the vehicle position in a platoon of homogeneous vehicles and the distance gap to its lead (and following) vehicle on its drag coefficient. These models are developed for light duty vehicles (LDVs), buses, and heavy duty trucks (HDTs). The models that are fit using a constrained optimization formulation are then used to extrapolate the empirical measurements to a wide range of vehicle distance gaps. The results show a significant reduction in the vehicle fuel consumption when compared with those based on a constant drag coefficient assumption. Specifically, considering a minimum time gap between vehicles of 0.5 seconds running at a speed of $100 \; km/hr$ , the fuel reduction that is achieved is $5 \%$ , $17 \%$ , and $12 \%$ for LDV, bus, and HDT platoons, respectively. For longer time gaps (gap $\approx 2$ seconds), the bus and HDT platoons still experience fuel reductions in the order of $8 \%$ , whereas LDVs incur negligible fuel savings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Past few years have witnessed the widespread adoption of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in target tracking for regional monitor and strike. Most existing target tracking approaches rely on the target motion frames obtained by the camera equipped, or on ideally assuming a pre-set target trajectory. However, in practice, the real trajectory of the target cannot be perfectly known to the UAVs in advance, and also the target may intelligently adjust its flying strategy according to the environment. Besides, the limited flight performance, as well as information capture and processing capability, of a single UAV can hardly fulfill high tracking success rate requirements. To address aforementioned issues, this paper proposes an end-to-end cooperative multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) scheme, where UAVs are enabled to make intelligent flight decisions for cooperative target tracking, on the basis of the past and current states of the target. In order to reduce power consumption and prolong the lifetime of the UAV tracking system, the propulsion power consumption model and energy saving strategy are introduced. Moreover, to further increase the detection coverage, spatial information entropy is introduced in the tracking algorithm. Simulation results show that our proposed algorithm outperfoms the deep reinforcement learning baselines in terms of the mean episode rewards, while also yields high performances with respect to tracking success rates, power saving efficiency and detection coverage. As an attractive alternative to traditional and large satellite, small satellite cluster (SSC) with low cost and short development time will play an important role in Earth observation. Generally, SSC networks for Earth observation are energy-limited, the design of the joint data downloading and resource management scheme remains challenging. On the one hand, with the ever-increasing amount of sensing data, multiple gateway stations and relay satellites have been deployed to receive the sensing data from SSC. The problem that where to download the sensing data should be addressed. On the other hand, due to the limited communication, storage, computing and power supply capacities of small satellite, an efficient multi-dimensional resource management scheme should be adopted. In this paper, the joint data downloading scheduling and multi-dimensional resource management problem for satellite cluster networks with relay satellites is investigated, which is formulated as a long-term optimization problem to minimize the energy consumption and guarantee the data drop rate performance. Then, this problem is decomposed into a series of mixed-integer programming problems by Lyapunov optimization theory. Leveraging many-to-many matching theory with empty node and the simplex method, an online joint data downloading and resource management (OJDDRM) scheme is proposed. Simulation results validate the proposed OJDDRM scheme's performance and demonstrate that there exists a balance point for the proposed OJDDRM scheme. Air ground integrated mobile cloud computing (MCC) provides unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) the capability to act as an aerial relay with more flexibility and resilience. In the cloud computing architecture, the data generated by ground users (GUs) can be offloaded to the remote server for fast processing. However, the heterogeneity of mobile tasks makes the data size distributed among GUs unbalanced. Besides, the energy efficiency of UAVs movement should be carefully considered for sustainable flight and obstacle avoidance. In general, such a joint trajectory issue can hardly be formulated as a convex optimization in unpredictable and dynamic environments. This paper proposes a potential game combined multi-agent deep deterministic policy gradient (MADDPG) approach to optimize multiple UAVs' trajectory with the consideration of GUs' offloading delay, energy efficiency as well as obstacle avoidance system. In specific, we first model the issue as a mixed integer non-linear problem (MINP), in which the service assignment between multi-user and multi-UAV is solved by potential game. The convergence to a Nash Equilibrium (NE) can be achieved by distributive service assignment update with infinite iteration. Then, we optimize the trajectory with obstacle avoidance at each UAV by MADDPG approach, which has a great advantage of centralized-training and decentralized-execution to reduce the global synchronized communication overhead. UAVs movement can be optimized in continuity rather than other deep reinforcement learning (DRL) approaches generating discrete simple actions. In this paper, we propose a novel generalized space-code index modulation (GSCIM) scheme for spectrum-efficient and energy-saving transmission. In our proposed scheme, the input information bits are transmitted not only by modulated symbols, but also by the activated transmit antennas pattern and the selected spreading code patterns for the in-phase and quadrature components. Due to the increase of the index dimension, more information bits can be implicitly transmitted, which can improve energy efficiency and have a higher data rate compared with spatial modulation (SM), generalized SM (GSM), generalized CIM-aided SM (GCIM-SM) and CIM-aided quadrature spatial modulation (CIM-QSM). In order to further reduce the complexity of despreading-based maximum likelihood (ML) detection, we propose an enhanced low-complexity detector that can achieve near-ML error performance. An analytical upper bound on the average bit error probability associated with the optimal ML detection is derived, which is verified by simulation results. Driven by the massively growing applications in Internet of Things (IoT) and the new requirements of the six generation (6G) wireless network, the amount of terrestrial mobile devices (TMDs) and data traffic in wireless communications have increased explosively. Consequently, the integrated terrestrial-satellite relay networks (ITSRNs) have emerged to address the issue of the huge wireless traffic with limited allocated resources, which attracts extensive research attention to the field of IoT. Limited improvement of system throughput is realized by configuring terrestrial relays (TR) in the previous works. In this paper, by introducing an aerial relay (AR), we propose a novel structure of ITSRN and investigate the system throughput maximization and energy consumption minimization problems by jointly optimizing power allocation and AR altitude. Specifically, the system implementation includes two periods: satellite to relay (S-R) period and satellite to devices (S-D) period. To maximize the overall system throughput, we propose a joint optimization scheme of the power allocation and altitude of AR. Due to its non-convexity, a bilevel programming method is proposed to obtain the global optimal solution, where the closed-form expressions of power allocation and the optimal altitude of AR are derived. Subsequently, we investigate the energy consumption minimization problem during S-R period, which is formulated as a convex problem. We propose a low complexity algorithm and derive the optimal closed-form solution based on the rigorous mathematical analysis. The electric vehicle technology is one of the most promising candidates to reduce fuel consumption and $\rm CO_2$ emission. Although electric vehicles have been widely promoted by governments around the world, their development is seriously hampered due to charger unavailability and range anxiety. Based on this, this paper designs an energy interaction converter between two electric vehicles, which is controlled through disturbance observer based sliding mode control algorithm. For this converter, three main demands should be satisfied, i.e., high power density, weak source and constant power load. Therein, weak source whose minimum short circuit ratio (SCR) belongs to Jia et al., 2020 and Wang et al., 2020, is always called weak grid. Firstly, the equivalent impedance switching process is introduced to eliminate the impact of weak source. Meanwhile, the equivalent six channel interleaved floating dual boost converter is chosen to satisfy the high power density demand, whose generalized state-space function is further built to provide an indispensable preprocessing for following controller design. Moreover, in order to solve the problem regarding low frequency/sub-synchronous oscillation caused through constant power load feature regarding the energy consumption vehicle and weak source feature regarding the energy supply vehicle, a disturbance observer based sliding mode control algorithm is proposed through using generalized state-space function to provide standard DC power with both constant voltage and power. Furthermore, the proportional-resonant controller is proposed to solve the current sharing problem among six parallel channels, which reduces the heat loss and improves the service life of the device. This paper analyzes the problem of securing the transmissions of multiple mobile users against eavesdropping attacks. We propose and optimize the deployment of a single unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which serves as an aerial relay (AR) between the user cluster and the base station. The focus is on maximizing the secrecy energy efficiency by jointly optimizing the uplink transmission powers of the ground users and the position of the UAV. To alleviate possible traffic congestion during rush hours, an improved traffic rerouting strategy designed for (or interplayed with) the vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) is proposed in this paper. The proposed strategy considers not only the real-time traffic information but also the maximization of road utilization to reach an optimized solution. Furthermore, an alternative path selection is incorporated so that an efficient rerouting path is determined according to the destination of the vehicle, the density and the capacity of the road, and the speed. Via simulations, we can successfully show that our proposed strategy significantly outperforms the closely related strategies in the literature in terms of the travel time, CO $_{2}$ emission, and fuel consumption, in particular, when heavy traffic is involved. Specifically, our proposed strategy can gain up to 20% of reduction in the average travel time in a realistic scenario to be observed later. Additionally, our proposed strategy gains 19% at least of improvement in the case with different road networks and 28.6% at least of improvement in the case with different percentages of reduction of traffic lights as compared to the closely related strategies as shown in the Appendices given in the supplementary downloadable material. The stationary supercapacitor energy storage system (SCESS) is one of effective approaches for the utilization of train's regenerative braking energy in urban rail systems. In this paper, the capacity configuration of SCESSs, the no-load voltage of substation, the control of onboard braking resistors and train operation diagrams are considered comprehensively. Based on the equivalent circuit model, the effects of traction power system parameters on the energy transmission between powering trains, braking trains and SCESSs are analyzed, and the relationships between the train operating parameters and system energy consumptions are revealed. A multi-variable synthetic optimization method is proposed to optimize the SCESS capacity, train operation diagrams and traction power system parameters collaboratively. In order to reduce the search space and improve the efficiency of the optimization algorithm, a hierarchical multi-objective optimization model is established, based on which the design variables and the control variables are optimized iteratively. And as the traffic density has a great impact on the regenerative braking energy distribution of the system, the optimization objective function fully considers the frequency distribution of headways throughout the day. Combined the Elitist Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II) with the traction power flow simulator, the flowchart of the two-stage optimization algorithm is designed, and the pareto set of the multi-objective problem is obtained. Economical and environmentally friendly geocast (EEFG) uses traffic signals to communicate with approaching vehicles. The communication can be signal-to-vehicle (TLS2V) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V). Based on the information sent, the vehicle receiving the message adapts its speed to a recommended speed (SR ) , which helps the vehicle reduce fuel consumption and emissions. In delay-tolerant networks (DTNs), stable end-to-end connections do not always exist. Messages are forwarded, assisted by the mobility of nodes, in a store–carry–forward paradigm. The mobility of nodes in most DTNs has a certain statistical regularity; thus, using historical information in DTNs to compute the delivery quality of nodes can help to select good forwarding nodes. This paper aims to establish a routing scheme based on multihop delivery quality, which is designed to reduce the energy consumption of message forwarding while maintaining a high delivery rate. We characterized the multihop delivery quality of each node with an expected delay and an expected probability, parameterized by the remaining hop count. Based on these two quality metrics, we developed two algorithms, namely, the delay-inferred forwarding (DIF) algorithm and the probability-inferred forwarding (PIF) algorithm. The basic idea of DIF and PIF is to find the optimal forwarding path by minimizing the expected delay and by maximizing the expected probability, respectively, in the hop graph that is defined in this paper. We performed extensive trace-driven simulations to compare our algorithm to other representative routing algorithms using several real traces. We observed the following: 1) Compared with the delegation algorithm, which uses one-hop delivery quality, both DIF and PIF significantly improve the message delivery rate, and they yield more improvements as the mobility of nodes becomes more regular; and 2) compared with the state-of-the-art optimal opportunistic forwarding (OOF) algorithm, which also uses a multihop delivery quality, DIF and PIF have significantly smaller forwarding overhead (with the maximum reduction in the number of forwarding being over 40%), whereas they are quite close to OOF in terms of both delivery rate and average delay. In this paper, we propose a green spectrum and infrastructure leasing framework for sharing unused TV spectrum, in which the ownership of the network infrastructure and spectrum are decoupled, and each can be leased as a service on demand. An incumbent TV spectrum owner (TSO) can lease a share of the infrastructure from a network infrastructure owner (NIO) with a pay-per-use model, to provide new services to its end users. On the other hand, a TSO can rent a portion of its unused spectrum to the NIO for revenue such that the NIO can obtain access to the spectrum to serve its customers. This proposed framework achieves green communications through both resource sharing and energy saving. Our paper aims to analyze the interplay between TSO and NIO, and create a win–win situation to provide sufficient incentives for them to cooperate on this green communications. A multistage Stackelberg game is formulated, where TSO and NIO sequentially determine the total bandwidth supply for sharing, the infrastructure leasing price, the amount of infrastructure to lease, the spectrum leasing price, and the amount of spectrum to lease to maximize their utilities. The best strategies that will be taken by the TSO and NIO under various deployment scenarios are analyzed. Evaluation results show that the proposed green spectrum and infrastructure leasing framework is a promising scheme under which both TSO and NIO can benefit, and their utilities can be maximized in terms of user data throughput and revenue/payment, which provides sufficient incentives for them to cooperate. Proximate cloud computing enables computationally intensive applications on mobile devices, providing a rich user experience. However, remote resource bottlenecks limit the scalability of offloading, requiring optimization of the offloading decision and resource utilization. To this end, in this paper, we leverage the variability in capabilities of mobile devices and user preferences. Our system utility metric is a measure of quality of experience (QoE) based on task completion time and energy consumption of a mobile device. We propose a heuristic offloading decision algorithm (HODA), which is semidistributed and jointly optimizes the offloading decision, and communication and computation resources to maximize system utility. Our main contribution is to reduce the problem to a submodular maximization problem and prove its NP-hardness by decomposing it into two subproblems: 1) optimization of communication and computation resources solved by quasiconvex and convex optimization and 2) offloading decision solved by submodular set function optimization. HODA reduces the complexity of finding the local optimum to O(K^3), where $K$ is the number of mobile users. Simulation results show that HODA performs within 5% of the optimal on average.
