Abstract

The article presents a study which examines a project of supportive breeding of Portuguese endangered cyprinids in the context of their conservation The implementation and major results of the project are described. The study found that conservation should be seen must be conducted in parallel with habitat restoration measures to use captive bred fish to stock natural populations and maximize their changes to survive extinction reproduction.
